Anybody got Sky+? Hi guys, With Sky+, can you record one channel as you watch another channel? Thanks, Neil. |
Yes you can |
Yep, you can record both the channel you are watching and another channel. And watch a play back of a previously recorded program (I think) It does in fact record the program you are presently watching without you specifically asking it to. So if you have been watching a program from the start and wish that you had been recording it, you press record and it will have saved the program from the point where you started watching it, not from the point you pressed record. The marketing says that you can pause live TV which is true, but you can in fact rewind live TV provided that you have either been recording it or watching it. Its the greatest thing since the last greatest thing!!! ;) Tim |
Woo-hoo!!!! Goodbye Telewest, hello Sky+!!!! Thanks fellas!!! Neil. |
wot he said. plus 5.1 surround sound if you have the right amp. It's the daddy. |
It just gets better and better!:D:roll: |
I'm guessing telewest and NTL etc will catch up though, it's only the STB I guess |
or get a hard drive recorder. not as good but not bad |
You can do any 2 things on Sky +. Record whilst watching comething else, record 2 things at once or watch and "live pause". But you cannot pause live TV if you are recording another channel because that would be 3 things (it uses the 2nd channel to do the save for the live pause). You can also "series link" which is really useful feature. Set a program to record and hit the green button to "series link". It then records every episode with no further attention. Brilliant. |
I've been wanting to change from Telewest to sky+ because of these features. Telewest aren't marketing any changes to their packages so ... could be time to make the jump. Been waiting for a good special to come in from Sky ... oh and a bit of motivation. |
I'm on NTL and been running a TiVo for a couple of years (bought for peanuts from ebay and seriously upgraded :) ). When Sky+ becomes as flexible as TiVo, or the Hi Def Sky+ box appears, I'll make the switch. Unless I can get a Hi Def TiVo of course :) |
TW & ntl will be launching PVRs later this year............... |
hey at least with Sky you'll get to watch BSB sponsored by Rizla Suzuki.......................John Reynolds this JR that Rizla Suzuki this Rizla that...................bloody hell it's great he's back but there are other riders not in his position who still merit a mention. Huewen and Mackenzie though are they getting it large from the Suzuki camp? In my honest opinion, give it a rest:) |

I looked into tivo a while back. I think the only things it offers over sky+ is the ability to rate programs so it will record stuff it thinks you will like. Not having tried this I can't really say whether I would rely on it. I've heard that Telewest will bring out a pvr set-top box by the end of the year, but those plans might get shelved if they merge with NTL. Once you have pvr, there's no going back! |
Yes but no matter which way you slice it, Telewest don't have motors TV. Clowns!! |
You lot should get out more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sing: |

Does that come with Motors TV? |
Well, now done the deal with Sky, install in 2 weeks! Oh yeah, and what the FCUK are all the acronyms being bandied about? Expand and explain please! :frog: Cheers, Neil |

VOD = Video On Demand TLA = Three Letter Acronyms BSB = British Super Bikes ;) |
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Very good!!!! |
Sky are launching hi def in 2006 apparently. http://www.sky.com/skycom/article/0,...186332,00.html Wonder what they'll charge to upgrade when the time comes? |
Sky HiDef package will require you to have a display that is capable of handling HDCP inputs (via HDMI only at present) as they can't use VideoCrypt on the HD transmissions. There's rumour that their Hi Def Sky + box will start appearing very soon with HDMI outputs Btw over Sky+ TiVo give you quite a bit... Full and frank comparison of the two here http://www.tivoportal.co.uk/stb.htm |
