The Blackwall Tunnel...

...is the bestest place to get yer rocks off . I had the pleasure of riding Nellie thru the tunnel last nite not only to pay a visit south of the river :o but particularly to listen to the Paso's race cans reverberate...
I was not disappointed :D

Any other saddos out there
:sing: BC

Don't think I've ever ridden any of my bikes through a tunnel .. one of the downsides of living somewhere as flat as Lincolnshire I guess. I asume Blackwall Tunnel is in London somewhere is it?

Riding nelly through a tunnel eh???

At Rockingham they have a couple of tunnels under the track which are superb for some helmetless revving!

JasonBoswell 05-Jul-2005 20:45

Hyde Park Corner underpass - fantastic!

Indeed it is - links north to south - the tunnel goes under the Thames so is quite long with a couple of bends.... has been renamed the Noise Appreciation tunnel :eureka: cos it's mostly tiled :D BC

I may just have to have a go at this one :sing: BC

and when you come out of the blackwall, you are 2 minutes from the limehouse link - just watch out for the speed cameras.

Try it during rush hour with loud pipes and watch the cars part like the red sea!

JPM 05-Jul-2005 22:02

Try Italy.... tunnels that go on and on and on :D

Martini 05-Jul-2005 22:42

Dartford Tunnel's good. Especially after Brands when there are streams of bikes passing thru. I love the sound of a V twin with open pipes on the over-run. Makes all those jap 4 cylinder machines sound like a bee fartin in a tin can!

So true - my other bike's a jap V twin/scorpion and sounds awesome on the overrun... inline 4  can't hear 'em :sing: but the Duc's the best! BC

Dibble 05-Jul-2005 23:50

I live 5 minutes south of the Blackwall and have been through there on many many occasions ... its quite a narrow tunnel so the noise is close ..... went through there a couple of years ago accompanied by 6 other dukes and not a road legal termi in sight ... stunning ......

chris.p 06-Jul-2005 07:29

Try going north around the M25 after the Brands round of WSB, going through the Dartford tunnel with a hundred or so bikes even if they are Multi's, sounds just awsome, hardly hear your self think:cool:

Try Bologna to Florence! Man they are some serious tunnels, then 3 monsters with rather loud cans can booming past, class.

rcgbob44 06-Jul-2005 09:41

I used to always back fire our sherpa vans thru` the tunnel years ago and you can actually hear the sound wave travel along the tunnel, seriously loud!
Quite awsome really!

FiscusFish 06-Jul-2005 10:33

The north bound Blackwall is best, 'cos it's narrower and has more bends to accelerate towards and then slow down for (Get the open airbox sounding on the overrun BBBWWWWORRRRRRRRRRRRR.........) :bouncy::bouncy:

There's a new tunnel up near the top of the Pas de la Casa going into Andorra, its about 2 km long, i got a big smile and thumbs up from the toll booth operator after giving the bike full throttle through there last year:lol:

Redruth 06-Jul-2005 13:16

I've got standard cans but I can never resist revving it in confined spaces, even for a couple of seconds passing under a raliway bridge. Will be going as noisily as possible through Rotherhythe on Saturday. That's a really old narrow tunnel which gives a special sound too. It is such a thrill to hear that bike. I love it! Good thread BC - good to see I'm not the only noise pollutionist around :D

beancounter 06-Jul-2005 13:19

Yes, I went throght the Blackwall Tunnel on the way to Dibble's on Sunday, and through the Dartford Tunnel on the way home from Brands on Monday.

996 SPS, 50mm Termi's - yum.
