This is 15MB exe file - a cockpit view video (continuous) loop of Cadwell circuit as ridden by BSB rider. Originally sent to me by Rockhopper (ta mate). It's worth a look - sorry if you're on dial-up.

In the video there is a little map in the corner that indicates where you are and also the gear/speed at the time. He gets up to 165mph on the Park Straight whereas I usually manage a bit less than that! ;)

Or just go out and buy the latest edition of Motorcycle Racer, as they have a walk-through of the track by Leon Haslam.

Mr_S 08-Jul-2005 10:58

Can't find a copy down here though....

HW 08-Jul-2005 11:15

No me neither ... I looked for it when it was mentioned before. Anyone up for doing a scan for us peasants who live in the boonies? Pretty please?

I was about to mention that, got it on my desk here :D

Pity as I have no intention of ever doing Cadwell

Back Issues / Subscriptions Hotline: 01353 616112

Issue # 73, July 2005, has the Cadwell guide.

I think Issue # 70 is the one with Brands indy in it, if you need that.

JPM 08-Jul-2005 11:27

I can scan it for you tonight guys if that's any help and email it over?

Why not? Brilliant circuit, don't knock it til you try it. :)

antonye 08-Jul-2005 11:35

I'll be able to scan it when I get home, as I managed to drag my ass into work today.

Will post it later if somebody else doesn't oblige in the mean time!

No run off, very narrow, dire facilities to name but three reasons Henry, when you've been spoilt with Silverstone, Brands, Donny, Oulton, Rockingham etc etc...

TP 08-Jul-2005 11:53

But it's a great track to ride Freak!!

That's what it's all about - riding!

JPM 08-Jul-2005 11:58

So are plenty of others Tony!

Wait until you do Donny... between that and Oulton is a hard call, by far the best tracks I've been round

beancounter 08-Jul-2005 12:05

Cadwell looks a lot scarier to me than was Brands GP on Monday.

Is that the case, or am I being a girl ?

(no offence meant to the girls)

TP 08-Jul-2005 12:10

Well, I've done both and I think Paddock Hill is the scariest corner I've done so far.

Oooh, no. What a great corner that is. I was seriously intimidated by that before I went around it, by the end of the day I was destroying sliders round there quite happily :)

The mountain section is a more challenging / intimidating section, and the hairpin at cadwell has naff all runoff which I find far scarier.

But, then again, Tony's a lot quicker than me.....

Lily 08-Jul-2005 12:27

I think its how narrow the track is at Cadwell and how little run off there is. Basically means if you get it wrong its likely to hurt alot and do more damage.

Knowing my riding ability i like to balance the fun of the track with the dangers of getting it wrong and for me that means tracks with a bit of space before you hit something.

fil2 08-Jul-2005 12:46

IMHO if you have not done Cads you are missing out..it is an awesome ciruit with so many features..the only place with no run off is the woodland section......

Oulton is Fantastic and Cads is very close...Cads is so much better than Rocky Silverstone etc........

Phil

Steve M 08-Jul-2005 12:51

from the article in Racer

"if you don't love riding around Cadwell then maybe you're not functioning fully upstairs".

;)

antonye 08-Jul-2005 13:15

Don't forget that a load of improvements were made over the off season to increase run-off in lots of areas, especially woodlands.

I tested the run off at the bottom of the mountain and can certainly say it worked a treat :D

I forgot to say thanks for that.

Oh and thanks for testing the runoff out of Camp corner at Castle Combe too.

Interesting that you went down at Camp corner ....

antonye 08-Jul-2005 13:26

Yes, very funny.

It wasn't my fault that Dickie didn't know which way the throttle went...

ericthered40 08-Jul-2005 13:28

Narrow, challenging, technical, scary and nice scenery to look at as you go round.

Up to it I hope so role on the 25th

:lol::lol::lol:

Ray 08-Jul-2005 13:50

I have spoken to a few others who won't ride cadwell for various reasons.

So what, thats their choice.

There are more important things in life than riding round and round in circles.

Are you saying that the challenge of riding Cadwell is too much for you then? Or that conditions have to be spot on before you'll ride a circuit? :puzzled::puzzled::puzzled:

You're missing out JPM, Cadwell is superb.

I'd hate to have seen it last year then.

I was there at the end of June, and my driveway's bigger than the runoff around the hairpin etc...

yeti 08-Jul-2005 14:38

Cadwell is one of those circuits that sound scary before you have ever been there, but once you have ridden there, it can be a very satisfying experience. Granted the facilities are poor compared to a lot of circuits, but they are improving all the time. The track IS narrow - but then a racing line is really only a tyre's width in any case! There is run-off now - just not much.

IMHO Cadwell should be on everyone's "must do" list. If after having been there you still don't like it, fair enough at least you tried. I personally can't get my head round Donington, but at least I tried.

Go on, gerrit booked. You know it makes sense........
