No Limits have got a day at Brands Indy on August 1st - bank holiday monday. Long way from cornwall but NL are good and the Indy track is a nice circuit fo starters. Otherwise, add this link to your shortcut menu: http://www.uktrackdays.co.uk |
cheers nick i forgot about the bank holidays, isnt there a bank holiday at the end of august too is anyone on here doing brands that day or any other bank holidays |
hmmmm August 1st eh .... may well do now that I know its on ... I'll give WJB a call as if he's instructing then I'm deffo in ..... spare room at mine if you need it Deej, Brands 20 minutes away ... |
cheers dibble, thanks for the offer i should imagine i'd stay in london as the missus best mate is at uni there so she'll probably go visit her for the weekend, gives me extra room to barter with her for new bits then, hee hee let me know if your going and if wjb is instructing as that could come in really handy, would there be a noise limit on the day ??? |

You are correct Darren, 10% discount. I've been toying with this one on Aug 1st... since I'm at Donny on 2nd it might be a tough day at work on 3rd! but I reckon I'm in... will book it on monday if there's space left! |

cheers nick so is that going to be 3 dsc'ers going then, would be great to meet you 2 guys as ive shared a bit of banter with you of the last few months and it would be good to have some freindly help nick dont worry about work, i'll have to get back to cornwall and then work on the tuesday. its got to be worth it for a trackday |
with no limits search for Johnny or Lawsey - both instructors - they will be friendly and helpful. Try to get their help on your first session, as they will show you the right lines that you can practice during your day. No limits is good.. Brogins |
:puzzled: err.......Aug 1st isnt a bank hol! There is just the one in England in August - on the last Mon of that month. Deej - if its any help, we are less than an hour (or lots more if M25 is horrid) from Brands. Close to M3 jct 3, or A3 - should you need a bed for the night going one way or the other. Dont know where in Cornwall you are, but it usually takes us 3 & a half hours (at speed limts) to hit the border - via the A303/M5/North Devon link/Atlantic Highway to Bude. C:) |
Wot? Not a bank hol??? Bugger, sorry deej. Oh well, looks like 2 days off sick for me then. |
CK's right again, UK Bank Holidays http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/bankhol.htm BTW, I'm thinking of doing Oulton Park 26th July, the day after TA4... |
Having got the TD bug at RAF Benson, I'm thinking about doing Brands before TA5..... This could be it. |
ah bugger its a bank holiday in scotland on the 1st. looks like it could be silverstone gp on the 29th which is definetly a bank holiday and also a bit easier for me to get to and fro... .... anyone else fancy it ??? if it comes to taking time off work to do what days do you guys have booked up so far, if you dont mind me tagging along that is |
I will be at Brands on August 1st with No Limits. It's a day AND evening session, so why not do both??? If you're going, come along for a a free cuppa tea and a chat, (please bring biccies) and we can get you some instruction early on. Book soon - there are spaces at the moment, but it will no doubt be full. WeeJohnyB |
1 space in the inters will be booked tomorrow wjb... I'd like to bag some instruction from your good self early on if poss, if you think you can keep up! Not evening session for me tho... got to get up to donny. |
er, Nick, should be interesting, having followed you at Cadwell last year I think it was, I know I was a bit quicker, but I reckon you'll have gained a few seconds with your race experience, should be about the same now, (if my confidence is back by then)....shall I take the 600RR or the CB5, not a whole lot of difference in my laptimes, but the CB5 would be a lot closer to your power, assuming you're on the DD bike - my CB5 has 49.5bhp, how big is yours darling:lol: WeeJohnyB |
Sound like the race is on then... I'll have a fiver on JohnyB!! No chappie, I'm not there to go fast, I'm there to potter round and learn the lines one corner at a time (if that's the right approach). I'll be on the monnie so you can keep the cbr wrapped up! Who else is going on this one? Deej, are you avin' a day off work or chosing another date? n |
nick i'll probably be choosing to got to silverstone on the 29th as i doubt i'll be able to get the monday off work, think 2 guys are off to egypt that week which has caused a few problems, i was well up for it and really looking forward to finally being able to meet a few dscer's but thats life maybe next time or maybe silverstone |
Fairy nuff. Won't be doing silverstone... circuit doesn't inspire me and I'm skint! Might wander up there for a social tho, we'll see. It's a nice easy track to go very quick without getting into trouble cos it's very VERY wide so you'll come out of every bend thinking you could have gone twice as quick! You'll enjoy it. Keep the throttle pinned through the left kink at Abbey and you'll have the biggest grin ever! I'll be doing a day at castle combe but that won't be 'til next season. |
p.s. Have a look at WeeJohnyB's silverstone guide here: http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm...=9614#pid78117 |
In answer to the first quesion on the thread... 1. Check your bike over; get it serviced before you venture towards the twisty track Tarmac and then check it again. 2. When you get there take your time. Leave to arrive early and then you are not rushing around. Being frantic in the morning sets the wrong tone for the day. 3. Adjust your tyre pressures for track use, 32psi front and 30psi rear is a good starting place for nearly all bikes. 4. Make sure you keep it in your pants and SLOWLY build up speed as the day goes on. You do have all day you know! 5. Let others pass. Your ego will want you to go too fast too soon and this will end up in tears. When others are going mental stay calm and do your own thing. There’s no prize money at the end of the day… Put it another way… Would you prefer the first track day to be slow and steady and still ride more all year or lob it at the hedges break yourself and the bike and not ride again until the winter?:eureka: |
Deej...If that is the 29th Aug then I could be tempted. Did silverstone GP earlier in the year for an afternoon session with FE and loved it. Whose that with and is it all day or an evening thing :D |
harv its a all day thing i beleive, only noticed it after realising that the 1st wasnt a bank holiday, willl be looking it up after tea to get my booking in and will post on here/u2u with it. andy thanks for your good tips and advice, 4 and 5 are very wise words. im sure i'd be fine in a novice group but would like to be able to ride again after silverstone and i would definetly be leaving early as its along way with a trailer on the back. can you camp at silverstone the night before ??? cheers for your help, offers and encouragement so far guys :frog::frog: |
harv its with focused events according to nicks useful link, will look up the f.e. site and get more info will i be able to run the bike with the 50mm's fitted at a f.e. event ??? |
harv im all booked up for silverstone on the 29th so if your going i'll see you there cheers deej |
Yeah...no problem at silverstone...as loud as you want mate:devil: As for going, I'll keep that date in mind as I will be due another TD around the end of August. |
well make sure that date is the 29th august, you cant get much closer to the end of august than that and its not far from your place is it mate !!!! im glad about the noise thing, i was so unimpressed when taking her for her mot, those standard cans are just so quiet and dare i say it deisilish after rideing around with termi's fitted. will keep an eye on this thread closer to the date to see if youve booked up . |
Just 40 mins up the road...nice! I'll drop U a U2U if I book up. I'll see how the finances are closer to the day. |
yep thats why i booked up now, give me chance to pay for the fuel to get there 4.5 hours for me in car with trailer can you camp at silverstone the night before ???? |
Camping...I don't think so, but you can stay in a kind of 'holding area' which is basically a car park just by the main gate I think. Its a gravel area if I remember? If you get stuck mate, let me know. Your more than welcome to stop over at mine. Loads of spare rooms...and if I do the day as well...even better! |
cheers harv, will see what the score is closer to the day, i may be bringing a mate up but only as a spectator so he may drive us up in the morning. i havent planned that far in front yet |
