SuperCorsa Pro\'s - Any good?
 

Anyone tried them yet?

I could have a set tomorrow if I want and I just wanted to gauge some feedback.

I LOVED the Supercorsa's I had on the 996 before and the Diablo Corsa was pretty good as well. Do I stick with the Corsa's or go Super Pro! :lol:

I've got Supercorsa Pro's (Street compound) fitted a couple of weeks ago & love 'em :D .

The other compounds available are SC0, SC1, SC2 & SC3 (qualifying, soft, medium, hard). I've not used any of them, so can't really comment.

I'd be interested to see what sort of life you get from them.

I'm concerned about tearing them on the track if I don't use tyre warmers - this was the death of my last set of Supercorsa's.

so use warmers then. pretty much essential i would say if using any of the race compounds.

I was going to get the road versions and with the money I've spent in the last week or so I'm done for now - nothing left for anything but essentials. And tyre warmers and the genie I'd need to run them at Cadwell are not essential!

The grip vs wear rate is always going to be a compromise. I guess you just have to weigh up which is more important to you.

What kind of tyre life would you be happy with? ie. How many track days + how many road miles would you expect (want?) out of a set of tyres?

i would say that the race version will be a better bet. you will be slipping on the sreet versions on a hot track with that power and torque, assuming the working temperatures are similar to the supercorsa street/race. warmers and a gennie a drop in the ocean to dropping the bike.

I'm not looking for huge amounts of mileage from my tyres - I'm more than happy to sacrifice that for grip. It was more an interest thing with seeing how long you actually would get.

I'm more concerned about tearing them quickly given I won't be using warmers. Dickie, I don't think it's a case of the cost of warmers and a genie versus binning the bike. More the cost or genies and warmers versus replacing the rear a lot more quickly because it's torn and lost it's profile.

I'm actually leaning more towards running a Diablo Corsa. Or, damning the cost and buying SC1 front and an SC2 rear and just buying more rears?

no never needed one with the tracks i've used the 999 on although cadwell is an obvious exception.

i dont think its just a matter of replacing tyres because they are torn. if they are tearing its because they are not up to temperature and you are pushng them too hard. very easy to do with 140 bhp +

for me i would always now go for an sc1/2 combo with tyre warmers.

just to contradict myself though i might use the 999 at cadders without warmers!

i'm poor too. :(

Yeah I know what you mean about pushing when cold. I just know that I'm going to do it and tear the tyre!

No warmers for me just yet. Might get some next year though, if I'm only doing track days and not racing.

I'm using SC1 front and SC2 rear - my second set after using Supercorsas - the grip is fantastic. Last about 2 full trackdays, after that the extreme grip goes - pretty much the same way as the old ones used to, but the grip from the Pros is better from the start.
