How much should one pay for their services?

Having read various quoted prices in magazines and across the t'internet, i would like to find out what you guys would expect to pay.

Given my bike is under warranty i would need to get it done at an official Ducati dealer (?)

So whatcha got for me minor and major services please. :D

andyb 27-Jul-2005 21:29

I think the service costs are set by Ducati. Its just the quality of the service you should be thinking about.

hmm i guess its due to location and varying labour rates then as to why ive seen the prices differ?

Im sure they will try and do their best to tear me off wherever :P

Gaz 748 27-Jul-2005 21:58

Where are you :puzzled:

fab 27-Jul-2005 22:02

Sunny west yorkshire near leeds.

Got Ducati Leeds nearby and also a couple of specialists which having had a couple of "specialist" cars i have tend to find that the small places offer a better service than a main dealer but for the sake of the warranty i guess ill have to bite the bullet with the next few services?

Gaz 748 27-Jul-2005 22:20

748R minor = £350.00 Major = £575.00

By all accounts Ducati Leeds have a very good write up, and several DSC peeps take their pride and joys there

Ducati Leeds (Shipley), is my local dealer, and I've just got my 999R back yesterday, having had it's first annual service, had a datatool system 3 fitted, fault finding with my dodgy light's (which was sorted), and sorted out my rear hugger, which I had fitted a bit wrong!!! Also asked them to check my fuelling, as I wasn't happy with it!!

Price was £592, and was well happy with the end results. Bike was transformed.

Would definatly advise anyone to use them, and I will be going back!! Top people.:sing:

Ah well thats good to hear, its not often you hear of main dealers getting good reviews but thats kinda promising.

Cheers.

Hi,

Just booked my 749s in for it's 2 year service which includes all usual service items plus belts, brake fluid swap and general check over. Italia in Lincoln Quoted £350 to £360 max including VAT. I have used these guys many times before and am happy with their work.

Would be nice to know if the price is typical, high or low compared to other dealers :puzzled:

How far into warranty?...how old is it?...Don't skimp on a service coz it's expensive. They are in need of TLC.

I (and lots off the board from around east Midlands and N/S yorkshire) go to cornerspeed. servicing is second to none and although independent servicing undercuts the main dealers.

I nullified my warranty to take it to cornerspeed... well worth it tho' IMHO:)

And some of us from London and evern further south!

It's 156 miles from my front door to Nelly's front door. And I go past a lot of dealers to get there.

Carbon749 04-Aug-2005 21:43

Have been to Cornerspeed for a coffee and chat, very impressed with what I saw.

But, at the moment my bike is still under warranty and Italia at Lincoln are a dealer. I'm not trying to skimp on the cost at all, just want to know if £350 all in for a major belt service is good value or not ?????

sye73 04-Aug-2005 22:13

I called 2 dealers yesterday for servicing quotes, and this is what I got :
Dealer A
748R annual belt change service £565 +vat
749R 600 mile first service £184 + vat

Dealer B
748R annual belt change service £570 including vat
748R as above but '+' service £775 including vat
749R 600 mile first service £229 including vat

GAZ748.....Did the £350 that you were quoted include the belts being changed,as I believe on the 'R' they need doing every 12 months

I do not think that £350 ia an all in price for a 12K service, will be intrested to know what you have to pay in the end.

Sye73

My quote for a 749s is £350 to £360 and includes VAT, Belts, brake fluid change, normal service items and general check over. This is with Italia in Lincoln who are a Ducati dealer, but, more importantly bike enthusiasts who also deal in Laverda and Beneli. The guy that owns the dealership also works in the workshop.

sye73 04-Aug-2005 22:43

Wow Carbon 749,that price sounds really good!I Just hope that they don't find some 'hidden' costs to add on your final bill !!
Sounds like a good place to take your Ducati to....You can't beat a real bike enthusiast working on your pride and joy!

Gaz 748 04-Aug-2005 22:53

£350 = minor service inc. belts ( £64.00 )
£575 = major service ie 6,000 and 12,000 inc. belts
Snells in Alton Hants.

Carbon749 04-Aug-2005 22:56

Sye73,

Just dug out my invoice for my first service at Italia which covered all normal service items, set up engine to run with RaceFit can plus an additional 2 hours labour to cover a full nut and bolt check, electrics, test ride etc over the whole bike as I had stripped it to a bare frame to "mess" around with it.

Cost for this including additional labour was £225 inc VAT.

It's the type of place were they keep you full of free coffee and let you stay in the workshop to watch them at work. They are happy to answer any questions or give free advice.

Guessing now that the quote for the belt service at £350 is looking good.

sye73 04-Aug-2005 23:45

.....sounds quite a place (I just wish it was nearer !).Looks like you've found a shop that will give you a proper, quality service......Best you hang on to them!

duck 05-Aug-2005 08:20

any idea how long it takes for a belt service?

it's a bit of a trek but sounds worth it for the price if i can hang around whilst it's being done

chris.p 05-Aug-2005 08:24

Just checked my last years invoice for a 6K service at Italia for 748 (milage 20k) £653.54, this did include one opening rocker at £75.35.
