Project 888 Day 1. Came home with this today, the stripdown will reveal if its a good buy or a major error :o |
Nattyboy you should have been in the police ,you were correct, the guy did own an SP4.Actually for all I know you might be in the police, but a good spot anyway!. |
:lol: I dont know wether to be chuffed..or go and have a word with myself in the corner for being such a 888 anorak.. Looks lovely bud...how much did you get her for in the end ?? Any plans..!? Welcome to the special world of 888 ownership anyway ! Ill have a bottle of Corona Extra if were wetting her head..!! Cheers Nat |
Welcome to the gang man;) |
Came down from £3700 to £3300.There is only one invoice from non Ducati dealer, thats for an oil change with the Mot,all the rest are Woods,Abergele.Thats the good bit,the not so good is the bodywork, photos look better than reality-stone chips mainly.Plans-simple,strip it down completely and build a Nattyboy/Sparkin clone, sounds easy doesnt it,(especially as Haynes dont do a manual)but looking at frame re-painted,bodywork,single seat, high level pipes,footrests.S--t need a lottery win:o |

Eric, U2U me your address and I'll send you a works manual on CD. Welcome to the better part of the board:D |
Rob, does your manual cover sp4's? if so, could i please have a copy as well?:D |
Eric, It's in the post. Chris, Strada, SP0 and SP5. In other words, all variants of the Std'ish engine. That said, there's a bunch on Ohlins damper and Showa forks rebuilds. Rgds, Rob |
Cheers Rob, but I think I've got that one. Sorry for the hijack Eric, but I think I might be heading down this slippery slope of an 888 rebuild as well. Actually, it's already started.:o:burn: |
Lovely - you lucky man. AN 888 is the only Duke I think that could seduce me away from my 900ss. Good luck !!! Frank |
Trying to figure out the best way to remove the motor:puzzled:.No horror stories so far, just a bit of dodgy wiring. |
Looking good :D Keep us posted... |
Keep unbolting bits and eventually it drops on you toe! |
Seriously, one of these helps so you can take the swingarm off and keep the whole show balanced. |
Quote: (Came home with this today, the stripdown will reveal if its a good buy or a major error ) ...Came home with this??? What like, I was going round Sainsbury's, and saw these on offer, so I popped it in the trolley??!! :D:D:D Nice one mate, looks lovely. :bouncy: |
Nice one! Definately keep us posted with pics. I'll be doing the same to mine shortly (more to check things over properly than tart up). Keith |
Wont be long now then:puzzled:.,only one bolt head knackered, cant be bad.Parts that will need replacing so far, left(clutch) handlebar, speedo drive, rear mudguard. |
Anybody got a mobile number for these lads, see if they want a weekend job for cash:eureka: |
:lol:Fair play mate..youve got more confidence than me..id be bloody hopeless at taking my bike apart to that degree..!! Nat |
