Bar risers

I am thinking of buying a set of Bar risers, I have heard of Cycle cat are there others . AND is it a good modification? Do they make a difference on the wrists?

Hi

I have the cycle cat ones onmy 748 and they transformed the bike for me.

I have looked at their site and they do not list a 749/999 item.

Drop them an email, they answered all of my questions quickly and were really helpful.

You need to get hold of a guy called Alfred Kobacher as they may be about to be released.

Can you let me know what cycle cat say please?
They do look the biz, and I am going to New York in November so I can get them delivered to a friend over there and bring them back.
Thanks.

SpeedyMoto now offer their top yokes for the 749/999. Upto 20mm lift with upto 15 degree of rake adjustment.
Same result from a different approach, but adjustable to some degree.
SpeedyMoto Top Yoke

Look nice to

That SpeedyMoto yoke looks lovely, but at a price! :(

More bike porn from Speedymoto.......:D

Fitted heli-bars to my 749 this evening, haven't had time for a ride, let alone a 200 mile venture, but just sitting on it, feels much better with more leverage through the bars, and it was pretty simple to do! :D

I have been looking at the options:

a) Helibars are $229, are 3/4"wider and can be 1 1/2" taller and cannot have their verticle angle adjusted.

b) Speedymoto top yoke is $349.95, no wider, can be 3/4" taller and cannot adjust the vertice angle of the bars.

c) Oncycles (Cyle cats sister company) are $345. They are no wider, can be 1 1/2" taller and verticle adjustment angle of 8degrees. They are listed on www.oncycles.com under item DBR21. There is no picture but the kit looks exactly
like the DBR1 which can be seen on http://www.cyclecat.com/dbr1-1.htm. The DBR21 kit includes replacement Brembo brake and clutch reservoirs and fittings to replace the notoriously leaky stock units hence the difference in price to the regular bar raisers.

So a) does the job, its the most reasonable but not fully adjustable. b) also does the job, to a lesser extent and its the most expensive. c) Almost as expensive, fully adjustable.

I would be interested in khu996's feedback. Would you normally need to adjust the verticle angle anyway?

BTW Some nice bits on the oncycles site too!!!

KP, been busy at work all day, will hopefully get time for a ride tomorrow, will give a fuller update as soon as I can.

Thanks - look forward to the feedback.

Anyone else used bar raisers??

Everyone that has fitted bar risers, do they make much of a difference ?, I am finding my 749R very tiring to ride with too much weight on my wrists and arms and am even seriously considering selling it.

I have seen 'Fast by Ferraci' risers on US ebay but the firm will not ship to uk, these lift the bars 8 degrees and lift them 1 - 1 1/2 ins.

I have also been informed that 'Gilles' make them but have not found out any info yet.

Are they a pig to fit or fairly straightforward, just dropping the forks through the yokes and do they hit the fairing or anything else when on full lock ?

Thanks

I spoke to the guys at Cyclecat and they are supposed to make a good difference in comfort riding postition and are relativley easy to fit. I can appreciate that I should drop my elbows more, relax my shoulders and so on but if anatomically you dont fit - you dont fit.

Plus I ride on the road - the track relieves pressure on the wrists for me thru the correct riding position and the wind speed helping to take some of my weight but on the road, in slower traffic - I get numb fingers. Not good.

I am picking up a set of the Cyclecat risers from the States in November when I go over. If you can wait that long I will let you know how I get along.
Dont sell it !!! Wish you all the best.

i get the same problem. anything over 100 miles and i find myself traveling a bit swifter just to take the weight on my wrists, must be murder with a bubble screen.

speedy yoke looks nice shame about the price:(

KP, sorry I haven't been back with an update any sooner, still haven't been able to get out on the bike for as long as I'd like.

Initial reactions are good though, I find that together with a concious improvement in body position, the bars allow for more leverage, and a longer range before the dreaded wrist ache sets in.

I think they're a worthy addition.

Red racing sell Ferracci stuff, or at least they did, they're based in Italy and will ship to the UK

iang 07-Sep-2005 14:22

I like the look of the cycle cat ones, they are $355 and do come with replacement reservoirs ? ( I think )

They have a uk distributor ( spareshack ) who is getting me a uk price which will save postage but I was also wondering if anyone else was interested and if so I will see what deal he will do for multiple/bulk/group purchase ?

I put helibars on a 996 and transformed it for me, very happy with the result.
