Foreign Trackdays

Anyone got any recommendations for companies etc for these?

Having had a run of bad luck getting to trackdays this year I need to get some foreign days sorted as I am way down on track-time this year.

Been looking at tracksense who seem pretty good from their site, but hey... it's their site so who knows. Then there's the usual Focused Events, 100%, No Limits etc

Anyone got any booked already?

Any comments which might help decide? or anything I should be aware of before taking a leap into the unknown...

dickieducati 16-Aug-2005 16:43

did one with tracksense a while back. nothing bad at all to report. would go with them again.

Try TOFS racing:-

http://www.tofsracing.co.uk/Members/index.htm

It's run by some of the chaps at Pro-Twins. u2u KP as he's going to Jerez with them in Sept.

andyb 16-Aug-2005 17:53

JPM come to jerez with 100% in Oct 6,7,8,9,10 £599!(i bet you could still get it at that price if you persueded them hard enough.

4 days on track all flights/transfers, bike transport, 5* accomodation...............you know it makes sense!

Lily spoke to them yesterday now £699, plus bike pickup is miles away - Norfolk, so we'd need a van to drop off and collect, so the price just keeps going up and up...

Berto and a load of his scotch mates? are going too...............

still cheaper than focussed who wanted £900 for 3 days, although you got a set of £200 pirellis = £700 for 3 days......

and a mate whos done jerez twice says its a better hotel with 100%

The fact is you have to get your bike somewhere or pay for pick up for all of the operators.......... If you were serious, and as im going if you got your bikes here to Npton, we could put them all in one van to diss? And if the flights are from stanstead and you dont want to pay for the change. get here and 4 of us could go in one car, leave your car here??

PS the guy in Diss doing the transport is the same used by focus aswell.

rockhopper 16-Aug-2005 18:08

You can borrow my two bike trailer if it helps.

yeti 16-Aug-2005 19:56

Shame it's just after TA5, won;t be able to get the bike over there in time.

FWIW, JPM, myself, Rattler, Jon, Pedro and V2Pete all did Cartagena with 100% in Feb/Mar and they were pretty good although the accom was not the best I've been in. Imagine the boyz will want to do another early next year or later this year so I'll keep you posted. I'm definately up for one later in the year

andyb 16-Aug-2005 20:19

bike to transport bloke before 1/10/2005 at Diss.

Lily 16-Aug-2005 23:12

Andy

Thanks for the offer (I am assuming it includes me :D )

I am going to give them another ring tomorrow and see what I can sort out :)

Did Val de Vienne over 2 days. Bit pricey but great fun and blazing sun for 2 days. Must have spent over £1000 with bike transport and getting bike to Luton depot. Still, was a great long weekend.

By all means lily/jpm, im sure we could come to some arrangements. one car to Airport/parking, leave yours here, one van to deliver 4 bikes to Diss ( before 1/10 )

You'd stay at the 5* Hotel Sherry in jerez B and B, its got a web site.
The flights are from Stanstead, something like 17.30 hrs out on the 6th, first t/d on the 7th. Up to last night evening of the 10th fly out at 1100hrs on 11th.

:eureka:

I'm doing Focused Events to Jerez on 20th Sept. When I worked it out, costs ended up pretty much the same for me as 100% Bikes (I need the tyres). Only 3 days on track, but I reckon that will be enough for me anyway.

berto 17-Aug-2005 10:15

100% are shite!!!nuff said...Andy where did you get the info??hotel sherry is 3* 100%cant give flight times as of 16/08/05???

KP 17-Aug-2005 12:14

Like Wylie said, I am doing Jerez Sept 19/20 with TOF's.

The guys (two old farts = TOF's) do it for non profit. Apparently. Looking at the cheaper trackdays you have the hassle of bike drop off days and days before, miles away (from me) and so on. TOFs is ideal for those in the southern half of the M25. Drop your bike off at Pro Twins on the Saturday and fly out on the Sunday. Book your own flights and the rest is all included. About £650 for two full days.

It was a present for me and since I got the bike at Pro Twins it was a natural choice for my wife to go there without me knowing.

I dont have any experience of other foreign track days - I have only just done my first UK track day. So I guess its 'horses for courses' - you pay your money and take your choices - but i will certainly let you know what it was like when i come back.

If TOF's do it for about £650 for two days in Jerez without profit perhaps it could be something that DSC might want to organise? A spell of sunshine in the darker months is always attractive and could get the other halves along - just a thought.:D

I have found with them thast you need to speak to the right person. My first contact with them was presumably the office numpty.

When i rang a second time i got the boss. He gave all the info
I know that spanish star ratings can be a little poetic......
If it helps, the bloke im going with has been with 100% to jerez last year. Hes stayed at this hotel. It clean, tidy, and well located for your evening meal...........drink...er!

My mate also confirmed they used those flights before aswell. In fact Focus use the same flights, look at ryan airs' site, the flights are there.

berto 17-Aug-2005 13:28

:puzzled: Well they are now telling me they will have all the info at the end of this week!!Obviously the earlier I know this helps me with arranging flights down south and bike transport....Feckin english!!(no offence)

andyb 17-Aug-2005 13:46

you could always do a scottish track day at...................er..............em........... .oh yeah, great!

JPM 17-Aug-2005 13:50

How much have 100% insured your bike for???

That's another concern some quote £6K but obviously most Duke's are going to be above this value

andyb 17-Aug-2005 14:17

The company 100% use is the same bloke that does focussed. its simon at motofreight.

His phone number is 07841 376980

or simon@motofreight.wannadoo.co.uk

It is a difficult one, i know it will be insured but obviously a gsxr is cheaper than a duke. I suspect your own insurance would also cover.

Its not as if he a chancer though, he does this for a living for all the companies. The bikes sit in proper made crates and dont move. You also get a pallet space for your kit and bits, tyres etc........although you take your helmet on the plane with you.

JPM 17-Aug-2005 14:27

How mcuh space is there around the bike etc in a crate, I'm guessing you could quite easily get some tyres in there, spares, tools etc? maybe even leathers...

berto 17-Aug-2005 17:53

 Andy I still cant get confirmation on the flight times!!!!Only seems to be booking clerks there.............

There is quite a bit of space. If your clever you can strap wheels and tyres to the bike, along with a box of bits etc.....

I understand there is also space for your kit leathers etc.

madmav 18-Aug-2005 00:49

ride your bloody bike lol

Here is an extract from my testimonials from a guy who came a few weeks ago to the ring !

What a brilliant weekend,The ring is well worth a visit. It has everything from slow to fast bends, uphill downhill, a biker,s dream. I have been doing trackdays for the last 8 years and this was the best yet.I normally do a trackday at JereZ every year but will now change to the Nurburgring.Keith does a good job of leading you there and generally looking after you leaving you to concentrate on the track. The Hotel is very quiet but has good food.Cochem is well worth a visit and has some good roads en route. We can,t wait to get back and have another GO! peter cocks

just do it!

Crunchy 19-Aug-2005 00:51

I live in Germany so all the tracks I go on are foreign.
We have some good, well organised track days here and one of the best is Prospeed. http://www.prospeed.de/ . I am at Hockenheim on Wednesday with Prospeed (sponsored by Michellin-free tyres) and will ask if they can translate their website. At the end of the month we're off Mugello, costs for 3 days track time is €419 thats about 284 quid

If your interested I could translate the site for you. Termin means calendar for instance

Brogins 19-Aug-2005 01:21

Hi Guys..and NathanHu..the days at Mugello can be booked with Rossocorsa.. http://www.rossocorsaonline.com/prov...l#LISTNOPREZZI
..of course the site is in italian but if you want I can help with translation... you need to book at least 20 days in advance as these days are going really fast. They are expensive also..even mostly are open pitlane....
Daily pricing: 300,00 €
Half day (9am to 1PM and 2PM to 6PM) 200,00 €
I don't know if they have still free spaces..as they allow onlt a closed number of bikes..
dates are 26 september and 14 of October....

berto 19-Aug-2005 10:09

Crunchy, can you translate ****,****,******* for me....

Crunchy 19-Aug-2005 10:31

JA - !!!!,!!!!,!!!!!!! will that do
