number of rounds for next year?

what would be your ideal number of rounds for next year?

AK 17-Aug-2005 09:39

Status Quo for us - as more races - more costs

All rounds of the 6 to count - but lets have 12 races not the 11.

C:)

NBs996 17-Aug-2005 09:54

6 rounds, all count.
A couple of different (UK) tracks would be nice.

phoenix n max 17-Aug-2005 10:59

I voted 8 rounds best 7 to count.

If it stays at New Era they race at Mallory Donington Oulton Brands Cadwell Pembrey Snet and Castle.
Good mix I thought.

Same number of rounds, or maybe one more. Most same circuits would be nice, less need to learn other tracks.

AK 17-Aug-2005 11:06

so - who voted 10+ rounds?:puzzled:

and rather rich too - cos that'll cost them approx £1000 in entry fees alone, without the travelling, fuel etc:o

dickieducati 17-Aug-2005 11:20

yeah but they might normally do 8 trackdays a year.

if they dont do them they are flat.

skidlids 17-Aug-2005 11:30

I've gone for 7 rounds 6 to count,
that should give one a month from April to October inclusive and as I wish I could drop my Cadwell result from this year he makes sense for me to opt for the dropping one from the results next year.

Tonio600 17-Aug-2005 11:51

I don't understand why you all speak about keeping the X best results out of Y meetings... Is that done in other series as well?

A good racer must be as fast as regular. I'm a good exemple of a bad racer: I'm slow and I crash once every 2 meetings. But look Geoff, he's fast, he rides clean and he's regular (ok, it may be easier when you're the fastest...).

Anyway, I really can't see why the worst result must be forgotten, I think it's not racing in the reality.

dickieducati 17-Aug-2005 11:58

tonio, i think the idea is that it allows for someone who may have to miss a race due to holiday or family commitments, bearing in mind we are not proffesional racers. i actally think it is quite a good idea and voted for it. it also allows someone to miss a race that may be a long way for them to get to or if they are short of cash for a while. all good reason in my book.

fair enough Dickie, I didn't think about this. I think the reason "we forget I couldn't do this meeting" is a lot better than "we forget I was crap at this one". Cheers for the explanation :D

ok ok... I didn't know (and I won't tell you I have no idea of what is Bemsee).

phoenix n max 17-Aug-2005 12:23

A big uk racing club Antoine. We have a few. We race with New Era but there is North Glos. Bemsee. Derby Phoenix and a couple of others. I think Bemsee are the biggest club though.

skidlids 17-Aug-2005 12:24

BMCRC fondly known as Bemsee they run races at club level and the MRO racing you see on TV.
Also in the R6 cup rounds are dropped

Tonio600 17-Aug-2005 12:37

Cheers Lin and Skid for the information. Last question and then I stop hijacking Dickie's post: are professionnal riders (like Toseland) coming from club series (like Bemsee or New Era)? Because in France we don't have this kind of series, most of the time race classes are managed by the FFM (the French ACU).

psychlist 17-Aug-2005 13:21

Toseland who?

You may well have done your qualifying with some up and coming "Toselands" on their CB500's Antoine ;)

skidlids 17-Aug-2005 14:12

first I remember of JT was the CB500 series at national level, especially the Thruxton round when he had a good battle with my mate Chris Hook, incidently Chris Sherring of the CSS won the Novice class that year.
Shakey I remember from the Bemsee club days where he was usually on the front row along with Danny Beaumont (BSB privateer) and Steve Wallaston (retired due to serious injuries)

butch890 17-Aug-2005 14:33

I voted for 7 rounds ,6 to count which i think would be enough especially as one round may be a 3 day affair.

Does he eat Bran?

Have you been collecting stool samples again Antoine? You've been warned once for hanging around the mens toilets ....

:D

I voted for 8 rounds with 7 to count.

Maybe thinking of the European round a day to get there a day of racing and a day to return, especially as Butch can sort out getting almost half the field there.

It's alright mate, it was a cheap joke ...

I blame the mind-numbing incompetence and blinding ignorance I'm battling in workshops today. It's sapping my will to live and my pathetic joke above got me through another hour.

I owe you a debt of gratitude!

I'm off to kill myself ....
