I have to agree..........:(

Mark 18-Aug-2005 11:27

I have to say, I prefer that seat unit to the standard unit.

khu996 18-Aug-2005 11:30

Not as nice as a standard mono set-up, but its not THAT bad! Kind of in proportion? :puzzled::o

AK 18-Aug-2005 11:33

Looks better in the 'flesh'.

Nice bike Brogins:)

True and as a race seat numbers can be added that you can actually read from the grandstands.

You probably enjoy accordian music too eh ?? :puzzled:

The true definition of a gentleman is someone who knows how to play the accordian but chooses not to !

Mark 18-Aug-2005 11:45

I fear not sir, I just think your comment could have been phrased better, if not a bit strong, i.e have a bit of consideration to the owner maybe!

why ? he chose to have no consideration for aesthetics when he bolted that abomination onto his bike :(

it looks like it has fallen out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down :sing:

andyb 18-Aug-2005 11:49

looks like an early gisxr rear...............:borg:

Nevermind. Can't help folk who can't be respectful to others.

And the owner is?

Another DSC member who has worked just as hard as you have to own his ideal bike. So, his ideal is not your ideal - but each to their own, you don't really need to be insulting about other peoples preferences do you?

To play devils advocate, there are plenty of 748/916/996/998 owners on this board who would (and regularly do) apply your comments about "aesthetics and the ugly stick" to your 749R - are they right to do that? Would you be offended if they took a personal approach to letting you know that you had no consideration for auesthetics?

Perhaps the definition of a true gentleman is someone who has a strong opinion of their own but who chooses not to publicly berate somebody with differing views or taste?

Exactly...can you post a piccie of your bike up Egg so we can **** it off (in our own minds of course...never on a public forum)?

Having seen Broggins bike in the flesh...it looks sweet.

yellowisfriedegg 18-Aug-2005 12:59

I didn't design my bike , nor have I altered it , you can't blame me..........

...................brogins however , thats all his doing , and it's still ugly.

If I wanted to post a picture of an ugly bike I would post a picture of my 1150GSA not my R

:sing:

Dibble 18-Aug-2005 13:08

I have to say the picture on the homepage really does Fabios bike no justice but in the flesh its one of the classiest 749/999 bikes out there ..... I like it ....

JPM 18-Aug-2005 13:19

Brogins top fella, he's a funny funny guy, and his bike is his pride and joy, whether you like it or not you're not doing yourself any favour's YIFE with the statement you made.

Subtle and PC spring to my mind..... :rolleye:

dickieducati 18-Aug-2005 13:21

im not fussed either way but i dont know what being PC has to do with this thread.

Speaking as someone who thinks nothing of driving his car into his bird what would you know about subtle ?

The original statement was meant as half **** take / half opinion (I take it I'm allowed an opinion am I ? ) but some of you here are taking yourselves far too seriously , lighten up , the sense of humour bypass seems to have been a complete success :burn:

andyb 18-Aug-2005 13:54

I think we on this site spend the majority of our time commenting on one thing or another. So and so does one thing, so and so does another........thats the way it is.

Am i bothered if i dont get the site Polices' seal of approval, No thats what makes me different.

It is difficult to portray humour and it be taken as critisism.
The classic red v yellow, **9 v **6/8. all spring to mind as regular topics.

Would yife be better of saying, well its painted as a xerox rep. Why that seat, JT's bike hasnt got a seat like that?

Twinfan 18-Aug-2005 14:15

To me, it does look like a SRAD GSX-R rear and I'm not keen but hey - whatever floats your boat!

ttstu 18-Aug-2005 16:22

I agree there appears to be a bit of over reaction. I took the initial thread as a combo of humour and opinion. If I were the owner I probably would too. Afterall we do what we do for our own gratification not others. Or we should.

When I looked at the pic for the first time my immediate reaction was the same. Not sure about the rear tail piece. Looks out of proportion. It ain't ugly but not to my taste. Then again I have a 999 which from some angles is totally ugly ie rear three quarter view but looks stunning from the front three quarter view.

Lighten up everyone.

TP 18-Aug-2005 16:27

Are we done yet ladies?

Step away from your handbags and enjoy your day - anyone wanna come and help me swap wheels around this afternoon?

No? Bugger ...

chris999 18-Aug-2005 17:32

in MY opinion its a lovely looking bike !!

;)

doogalman 18-Aug-2005 18:04

Peoples opinions aside, its his bike and if he likes it then good for him. We all have preferances , so what if some don't like.
Makes for good discussion thou.

doogalman 18-Aug-2005 18:07

I'd be interested to see it from other angles.

jobr 18-Aug-2005 20:21

Looking at the picture doesn't do it justice. having seen it in the flesh a couple of times it does look very nice indeed.

Opinions are great, it would be a sad place if we were all the same but a bit of consideration for the owner would not go a miss. When typing / reading a board it is very hard to define serious or mickey take and as such a bit of respect goes a long way.

Carbon749 18-Aug-2005 20:36

Just thought I'd add my comments. As someone who has modified my own bike, I have received mxed reactions. My stock answer is "It's not everyone's cup of tea, but, it puts a smile on my face".

I think Brogins bike looks good, not sure about all the mods, but if it works for him then nothing more to be said.

Let's get another slanging match going :D

Brogins 19-Aug-2005 01:07

I really do not care if you like it or not.. and PEACE everyone!!!

YOOOOOO..I am back from vacation!!!!..
What a mixed reaction...
Thanks guys..to everyone.. the ones that like it and the ones that don't... I really don't give a t... if you don't like it.... I do....!!!!!
I sent the picture in May to the webteam, now the bikes are two... here for your orrible - and nice - comments!! the seat units are different, one is the race one (the GSX style..really, in the flesh, is not that bad..) and the other is the desmosedici replica....

By the way I see that Scots do not like my bike.. bummer.. that's typical... my wife ( another Aberdeen native..) is the same..she doesn't like anything I do!! she should (or I..) thought about before marrying an Italian!!!:roll::roll:

See you guys in Popham this WE.. and yes, I will ride the "bike with no consideration for aesthetics and with a bolted abomination tail unit"... ..

..I think is still better than YELLOW.....

COL595 22-Aug-2005 14:52

Met Brogins and bike at Popham yesterday. It (the bike) looks great in the flesh - shame about the weird paint effect tho.

Brogins - I didn't get the chance to ask yesterday, where did you get your screen from? I need to get one the same - slightly raised but not a double-bubble.
