DD Next Year

Seriously considering entering next year as a 1st foray into bike racing, and was after a some advice on what I need to do and what to expect
Not expecting to turn into Rossi, but would love to do it for the experience.
All comments gratefully recieved regarding licences, costs etc. etc.

cheers

Nige

hi m8 and welcome.......Hope you do get on the grid next year its an awesome experience and worth the effort.

cost is dependant on the type of bike you want to run and the state of set up...i guess it can be said as a guide...

600ss standard 1200- 1500
675 (600 with Big bore kit fitted ) 1500- 2000
620ie circa 4k -5k

license easy to obtain an in house training day at Rugby ( ACU House)
Eye test ..simpy done at any opticians

and thats about it ..simple huh....

Race prepping bike ie ..lock wiring etc is fairly easy as is most of the work for scrut.

As a note the rules may change next year..so before making a decision on what bike it may be prudent to wait for the outcome........

Other than that its a great series..the DD lads support each other and the comradre at the meetings is the best.

if i can help further just ask.....

Phil

If you're coming along to CMW's on Wednesday for the Paul Smart Preview it'll be nice to have a chat :biaggi: otherwise maybe we can meet for a coffee sometime

Tonio600 22-Aug-2005 23:41

A summary of my costs, if it can help:

dickieducati 23-Aug-2005 09:33

nige,

if you are thinking about it now i would say definitely do it. its great. i really think it will be very competitive next year. but in a very good way as in there will be plenty of people in the middle order so if you are not up at the sharp end you will have plenty of opportunity to race against others and improve your riding.

as other have said, when you are definitely up for it have a word with any of us and we will be more than happy to help on anything we can.

it may be worth 'registering' your interest with chris bushell as i recon it will be very popular and there may even be a cut off on entries. you never know?

ChrisBushell 23-Aug-2005 11:25

Dont worry I have already been on the U2U, as there are a number of people who are showing interest in joining in the fun for next year. I need to keep an eye on numbers.

dickieducati 23-Aug-2005 11:34

chris, when can we officially put our names down for next year as i dare there are some already wanting to committ to it?

phil_h 23-Aug-2005 11:36

1) Come round and have a look at my recent purchase.
2) Make sure you come to brands on the 11th !

Boys & Girls

I will take provisional entries for next year from now onwards and build up a spread sheet.

As already stated preferance will be given to those that have raced this year in at least one round.

The proposed rules for 2006 will be issued towards the end of next week, discussed at Brands and we hope ratified at Cadwell.

Tonio600 23-Aug-2005 11:58

I'm in :D

TP 23-Aug-2005 12:06

I'm not :(

Is this a pertinent time to remind everyone that my Desmo Due monster is for sale and the lucky new owner can take it off me as I ride into the paddock after the last DD race at Cadwell if they like - as is?

Go on ;)

Tonio600 23-Aug-2005 12:07

Bad news. You moving in another series? Or into another project?

dickieducati 23-Aug-2005 12:12

The train of your silly thing runs on the rails of my indifference

I don't know yet is the easiest answer. There's a few things I'd like to do but I need help to do it because I can't afford it myself.

Worst case scenario is that I end up buying a ridiculously expensive house and not race at all.

:(

ainsi, voulez-vous avoir un pari sur qui finit plus haut dans la ligue peut-être une bouteille de champagne ?

It's here Phil, I've bumped it so you can see it in Today's Posts now as well.

Does this mean yours is also for sale Phil?

Mark 23-Aug-2005 12:38

Sod the expensive house, ya young, RACE!

Mark 23-Aug-2005 12:39

There's to many Phil's in this thread, my heads gonna explode!

That's a REALLY TERRIBLE-case scenario TP....you'd be very sorely missed. Who needs bricks and mortar when there's racing to do?

Andy #99

Mark 23-Aug-2005 12:43

Missed, like a big hole in the back of ones head!

Go on, sod off TP and race mopeds :P

TP 23-Aug-2005 12:47

:D

Thanks guys - if I don't race at all I'll still pop along to the rounds and support you. Even if I end up racing something else I'll still try and make as many DD rounds as I can. DD is a great series.

It just meant "Dickie I do ignore you". I never said I was faster than you :D

So please stop pressuring me Dickie. I don't need anybody to crash when just riding my bike, so I don't even want to try racing it properly. It wouldn't last one bend

dickieducati 23-Aug-2005 12:54

oh i dont know, im sure you'll make it to druids. ;)

i have no doubt you will start moving up the grid and getting faster soon.

Tonio600 23-Aug-2005 14:17

I definitely hope to move up in the grid (just like everybody I think) but this may not happen before DD 2006 or even DD 2007 :)

Learning is not a problem, it just takes time.

diveguide 23-Aug-2005 22:30

Thanks for all the replies, see you all at Brands on the 11th :)

I can't afford for you to leave the DD series - not now you're sponsoring my racing!!!! ;)

Is £10 going that far? I didn't think it would even cover the clip-on you snapped at Redgate!

Should I just hang onto it for now, so you only have to give me £20 at Brands?

;)

Rattler 24-Aug-2005 14:00

I'll even put TP stickers on my bike if you like!! ;)

Tonio600 24-Aug-2005 14:32

do you know where I could find some?? :D

LOL!

You're going to need to get an alias for this message board setup now so it doesn't look bad when you do it after the races! You'll be too ashamed to show your face around here again after the pasting I'm going to give you at Brands!

I mean ... if you can't hold me off for a measly 6 laps starting from 5th on the grid when I was 23rd .... sheesh!

;)

I must be missing something here, I kicked your arse twice at Donny, then gifted you the second race and now you're saying that I should be the one needing an alias????

Think on big fella !!!

You might want to put his bike back together properly first Phil ;)

Oh yeah ... I didn't get on with brand new tyres in the wet for qualifying ... rookie mistake ... :(

fil2 24-Aug-2005 15:03

Gifted!!! HA!!! You didn't even know I was there until you were wondering why there was all this extra spray in front of you all of a sudden!!!

And in the first race you only just got across the line in front of me - and that's an ass kicking? If I'm ever going to get an ass kicking I want them all to be as bad as that!

You know I'm going to give you a hiding at Brands!
