desmoDue...........onward and upwards with Motorcycle Racer now guesting on the Ducati uk bike and hopefully another complimentary article in the pipeline, DD really does seem to be gathering pace and getting its fair share of plaudits. when you have the likes of Tim Maccabee singing its praises you know you have done something right. i first heard about a 'prospective ducati racing series' less than a year ago and am quite frankly amazed just how far it has come in that time. it really is a testament to all those involved in the management and running of the series, the racers themselves and all the DSC support there has been, that is has come so far. i know there will be some people leaving the series but no doubt there will be plenty more new ones to replace them. im sure it will be bigger and better next year. its great to be part of it and i think its a superb addition the activities of the DSC. well done to all invovled. |
I totally agree dickie....good post............ Phil |
I agree 100% Well said Dickie, it's a great series and has really taken off. Excellent!!! |
Well said that man. :) I wholeheartedly agree, I just wish the guest riders would bloody slow down! My only concern is that the elevated status of the series may put off some of the more nervous possible entrants, exactly the people it was created to attract. Please take note race committee, as it's these people that bring the most to the series. Ali |
Agreed - I think the series is fantastic. As for the more nervous entrants - have to say they only gotta look at me to see it 'can' be done. I'm a 42 yr old mum of 3 using my road bike- if I can do it anyone can :) |
Boys, I can confirm that with the revisions for 2006 due allowence is being made for novices to be safely brought into the series. I have had two people off the MCN article already and talked through how the series is structured and both have responded by signing on! Whilst there is no doubt that the last 12 months has involved a massive amount of work by a number of people, the series has been a tribute to the Club as a whole. We are now well ahead of the game for 2006 and as long as we can get the rules ratified by Cadwell you will have 6 months to prepare for next years racing. The race commitee is also looking forward to a quiet winter! |
Quiet winter, with this lot, ya havin a larf Chris!! Wise good words Dickie, makes a change eh! |
I agree, series is going real well. One tiny query, I noticed in the mcn article that entrants have to have not raced for 5 years before they can do DD. Is that correct, cos if so I can stop thinking about it right now! :) |

Not quite true Desmojen... The rules allow for current dsc members to join in regardless of experience, hence geoff and skids being welcomed into the series, whilst those coming in from outside the club must be novice riders or not raced in 5 years. |
i think that clause was put in to stop trophy hunters jumping aboard. but there is a certain amount of leeway depending on circumstances. if you are a novice still you're ok anyway but other than that its up to the race comittee. |
Totally agree Dickie, although i think year 3 is going to be atough one (i know the race committee have that one in mind) . The series has delivered EVERYTHING that was promissed and with carefull vetting of combatents for 2006 looks like going from strenth to strenth. And im REALLY looking forward to Brands! Butch |

Cool, I am a club member, and am still a novice in race terms anyway :D No need to worry about me nabbing too many trophies either methinks  Just got to beg/borrow/steal* a bike then........ * Delete as appropriate. |
You coming out to play then Jen?? John |
I'd like to Monty, I'd really like to. Problem is I don't have money to buy a bike right now, so it's a bit of time wasting/daydreaming I suppose. :D If I bumped into a bike at the right price or something then it would certainly be on the cards :burn: |
i recon there will be a few available between 2k and 5k ready to run for next year from people selling/changing up to newer bikes. if you are interested it might be worth just posting up saying i want to pay..........£xxxx then if people are considering selling they can give you a heads up first. |
I can confirm that I am already aware of bikes that are going to be available shortly within Dickie's price guidelines. There is also a cunning multi layer swap deal that might well throw one out even cheaper! |
Really pleased to hear all the positive comments about DD including MCN (who were very impressed by the professionalism of the club!). For info Rob Hoyles from Motorcycle Racer has been very enthusiastic about the series from the word go and has promised 3 pages of coverage - so be nice to him at Brands everyone!;) [Edited on 26-8-2005 by Luke Plummer] |
can we get some picture of the tail enders too please? especially if its a wet race :lol::lol: |

But dickie, a carefully chosen moment, probably on lap 3, and it'll look like you're just a tiny bit in front of Geoff! |
Meaow Nick! |
Yes, it's a fantastic series. The racing is brilliant - especially when you know the guys on the bikes and the cameraderie round the paddock is wonderful. |
