Ducati 1 squirrel 0 Out for a blast this afternoon along the A6 heading in to Matlock. Over took a car and dropped in to a left corner doing about 55, spotted a squirrel dart across the road from the right. Looked like we were on a collision course and decided it was best to keep my line and hope for the best. Quick “bump” as it went under the front wheel. The bike kept it’s line and all was ok, well for me it was, not so good for the squirrel. Must admit shook me up and I had to have a strong bottle of water in Matlock to calm down. |
could have been worse a bullock or an eleflump:roll: |
Should have added that I was on a borrowed bike .... 999r Just added to the after effects :o |
Hows this then. Was doing about 140 odd on a friend's CBR 600 with him following me on my Blackbird. A pheasant flew out from the hedge right in front of me and - smack - into the front of the bike. The impact was so hard I felt the bike physically slow down! Anyway there was absolutely nothing left of the headlamp, the fairing was pretty smashed and it came into the fairing so far I could see bits of it under the clocks, it had come back as far as the forks. Needless to say my friend was a but un-chuffed. |
scary stuff:o when i was 17 i ran over a squirrel at 50mph on a yam sr125. very nearly binned it front end just slid to one side. didn't quite kill it so i went back to finish it off but the car behind me got to it first and flattened it. also a bit of a deer magnet. managed 2 deers in same car in 2 months |
check this out from a blast in 2004!!! www.khushy.com/phes.htm Out with the guys from Nth Bucks Ducati - a Phesant hit the faring of the leader (Andy in the pic) then his chest and landed in the dashboard - we came to an abrupt halt and had a good giggle. Needless to say that the Phesant didnt look very happy!!!! :D [Edited on 5-9-2005 by khushy] |
I was coming down from Andorra towards Barcelona - leading 3 other riders, in the dark - when we hit an already deceased Labrador that was lying in the road halfway round a corner. We all suffered a reasonable wobble, went off line and filled our underwear (I felt bones breaking as I went over it) but were just grateful that someone got there first and it wasn't upright when we hit it - poor thing... Anyone hit any foxes? I just missed one doing about a ton. Dont know who left the bigger trail of pooh.............me or the fox:( |
:( I ran over a badger, went back to make sure it was dead and the bugger tried to bite me :rodent: it was quite badly injured so i had to do the decent thing and ...............:( |
I just remembered a squirrel incident on a mountain bike ! Rather like carbon's - a sudden flash from the side towards the front wheel - no time to do anything :o Then there was this god-awful screeching from the front wheel, so I looked down ... and the squirrel was holding onto the spokes going round with the wheel :lol::o:o:lol::lol: I slowed down - as you do when this happens - and he jumped out and continued across the road :lol: Sue riding behind missed it all and I still dont think she believes me ! |
i was doin 70 down a farmiliar B road, As i turned the bend i was greeted by a sheep in the middle of the road standing there frozen. So happy with my Brembos that night as i stopped about half a foot off the sheep, quick blip of the Termi's and it bolted. Had visions of goin over the handle bars and everything. /ian |

FRiend of mine swerved in his M3 to avoid a rabbit and did £13000 worth of damage after losing control and binning it in a field - Ive never laughed so much in my life. 13 grand coz of a bleedin bunny! Plus the guy is a total d**khead, arrgh there is a god!:lol::lol: |
ahhh the true fate of BMW's who would of thought that their drivers had a heart. Almost totalled a bunny last week in the dark, thought he was staring right at me, and hoping he wasnt going to move, just kept my line. I then realised it was looking ar the looming volvo that I had just squirted in front of as I joined the dual carraigeway. I am sure it would have taken it out Isnt Spring the worst time for roadkill? |

Well I should have said that the only reason he swerved was coz his wife was in the car and would have 'killed him' if he'd run it over! So nah they're all heartless and as a mate of mine said to me the other day - what the difference between a beemer driver and a hedgehog? A: The hedgehog has its pricks on the outside! |
couple off years ago. on a blade. mate 1 on fj mate 2 on blade. comes belting down to this tricky corner mate 2 comes past ,waving. were braking. his still waviing. we know his not going to get round corner. he binned it arsed in to this blokes garden. lying there makeing. horrble noises. this bloke comes out off house ,says ave seen a lot worse. he happened to be a ex club racer, i coulnt stop laughing. anyway back to animals, how come them sheep. just .wander strait into your path, they allways scare me .i poo before the sheep. there good at chicken.:lol::lol: |
