2005/06 999/999s Reliability ? Planning to get back into Ducati after a few years away(last was 998bip) Big Question, what is 05 model 999/999s reliability like? simple question? who knows! thanks all, good to be back! |
'05 999S,just over 3000 miles,no problems at all.:D |
05 999s . . . 5200 miles - no problems! Khushy |
'06 999S, 2000 miles. Only one major problem - my amber light hasn't come on at all (am I tempting fate?). Am I pleased? - damn right I am:sing: |

Whahey, top news Alan, velly pleased for you. Amber light on my Multi comes on all the time but its the fuel light, yours must be very economical to do 2000 miles to the tankfull:lol: |
'06 999S :puzzled: When did they make an appearance then? |

Jools you should know that the north/south divide works in our favour sometimes:lol: and Alan's one of the favoured few...he has had it for about 5 or 6 weeks now, its the Italian calender, different to ours. |
Got a '05 999 (mono). Now just over 3000 miles and no problems at all. Got a 2500 mile/10 day run to the sun in just over a weeks time and have every confidence it will not give me any trouble ! Gareth |
Just got back this evening from Assen weekend. Came back through Holland, Belgium and France. My 05 999s did run a bit hot at times in built up areas. But this was more to do with the weather. I did have one breakdown this year and had to be recovered from Brands WSB. When the starter relay went. Apart from that i have had 3000 miles of good riding. Clint.:) |
Thanks all! What can I say, today I was loaned a 05 999(the manager of the shops own machine, not a DucatiUK demo) with 600 miles on the clock, all was going well until 30miles up the road and it started spluttering at 6000rpm and would not pull cleanly, like it was running out of fuel, but it had a full tank, the "spanner" sign then appeared on the LCD dash, it continued like this until I returned to the shop, at one point it just cut out in traffic, Not sure what to think now? Had bad experiance with 996, don,t want the same again, 998 I had laterwas very very good tho,:( |
They have fixed it, going out again wed! |
So what was the problem? |
Wednesday - just in time for the petrol blockades and trucker go slows. Looks like the weather will stay nice though, so have a nice day:) |
They did,nt say what the problem was "we just gave it its 1st service and "reset"? everything" ? Yep looking forward to it, I also understand it has more miles on it, it only had 600 last time and of course I did not want to rev it to hard, |
05 999 Bip. No problems at all. S'perfect. |
March 05 999 - 1500 miles... 7 track days (4 evenings) Lunatic battery (sometimes works, sometimes not..) and "grabby brakes" (that now are working a little bit better.. I guess the pads are getting "thinner") For the rest..great... !!! |
The spanner sign comes on at 600 miles to tell you that first service is due, should have been flashing. At about 660 miles it stays on to tell you services is over due. The 999S and 749S both have a problem that is well know of stalling / engine cutting out. Mine has been in twice and I think they have now sorted it. |

My bike has never cut out once. |
Well went out today, same problem! Dohh, its back in the garage again 750 miles on clock, Apart from not revving cleanly and cutting out 10 times it felt strong, not a complete deal breaker ! Fingers crossed for next ride |
Not a good advert for this dealer then is it? twice in how many days..... |

There's plenty of reliable ones to try. |
JPM, that what I thought, If they can,t fix they own managers bike...... guest1 I agree but that ones not for sale , see above, Liked the bike tho, felt stronger (mechanical) than my prevoius 998 Bip, thanks all, |
LATEST! Going out again wed(work permitting) Problem given was "fuel pump relay" was loose apperently? Arr Ducati ownership, its all flooding back! ;) We will see what wed brings! ta again all, |
O dear, went out yesterday, same problem occured again, THEN it started leaking oil over my boot on brake side! what to do? felt great if I forget the break downs!4th ride is being sorted, |
Me thinks you should go and try a different dealer, someone who knows how a Ducati is bolted together :rolleye: |
