Gearbox Sprocket Output Ratio Does anyone know if the output ration at the gear box sprocket is the same on the Monster 620 as it is on the Multi 620 I know the 600's are different. The standard sprockets are 15-48 on the multi but I think they are 15-45 on the Monster. |
they are 15/45 std on our monster Mike:) |
15/48 on my2005 monster |
I thought the rear was 46 as standard on the Monnie? |
So what are you running at Brands Dickie |

i havnt been fannying about with gearing this year. too much to sort out from a rider point of view. all i have done is change to a 14t front |
Hi, This is my first real post here, only had the Ducati about 2 months. Does a 14t front sprocket make that much difference. I have a 2001 750 Monster Dark. I have read a few posts about it but was just wondering if it really made that much difference to smoothness etc. :puzzled: Thanks Colin |
nothing to do with smoothness just improved acceleration. you will lose a bit of top end but most people dont worry about it. i would say its the cheapest and most common mod that people do. |
Smoothness Hi Colin, what you WILL find is that the 14t front sprocket means you'll be running slightly higher revs for any given road speed. That means it'll feel less snatchy around town at 30 mph, hence the way some of us (me included) described the 14t front making the bike "feel" smoother. As Dickie quite rightly says, you'll feel as if your bikes been given a new lease of life as the acceleration is improved throughout the rev range, most noticeably at traffic lights  |
Thanks guys, Getting rid of the snatchiness (is that a word) was what I was on about. Guess I'll have to get myself one then. |
Hi, you can figure out the consequences of changing sprockets, gears, wheels or revs on: http://www.xs4all.nl/~ator0437/grssc.htm Regards, Jean Quote:

Great chart but this brings me back to my original post on out put ratio:puzzled: |
Mike, My 04 monster has 15/48 as standard. Thats what mine has and thats what the user manual says it is. I think I read somewhere that the gearbox internal ratios are different between the multi and he monnie. cheers BTW hello everyone I'm new here. Dunc |

I'm not exactly shure this is what you are looking for but at the Ducati site , when yuo compare the Mon620 to the MTS 620, all ratio are exactly the same.... Look at the transmission part: http://www.ducati.com/bikes/my2005/c...rison&x=73&y=7 Regards, Jean [Edited on 16-9-2005 by DUCMANs] |
As Jean says above, they are the same at a primary output ratio of 1.85 |
At last :D thanks for that |
