DD Goals.?!? We have 1 last race meeting to go in our series for this year..!! Will you .?.Have you attained...?...your goals for this year..... :ninja: |
Nope |
Yes, I now feel as though I am riding as well as I did a few years ago, stepping up to the bigger bikes on the race track was probably a mistake for me |
At the start of the season my primary goal for the year was to end the year as a better, faster rider than I started the year as. I just didn't realise how far behind my expectations I was at the start of the year!!! ;) If I can perform well at Cadwell and effectively be a better, faster rider at a circuit I know less well, then I will have achieved this objective. As for my secondary goal, championship position, I'd like to get as close as I can to top 5, but this is a relative measure and is now less important than my primary goal. Tim |
I'm not happy at all with my season. I had more pleasure riding my 600 Monster than the 620 Sport. Maybe it's too powerful for me  So I'm really looking forward the end of the season, because now I want to play with my toy in the garage... That's the big stuff I never did this year (last winter I didn't have a toy, neither a garage) :D Roll on 2006! |
from one of my postings 7-1-2005: "for me having never raced before and not being overly quick on trackdays anyway i would'nt expect to be up front with the guys with more experience but will be seriously fed up coming in the bottom 3 each time. to finish in the top 10 in any race would for me be a huge achievement. but i would guess to being in the 17/20 area." i recon i have improved throuout the season and will continue to do so. still after that elusive top 10 spot. but its getting closer. if i dont get it at cadwell it will be my primary aim initially for next year. |
Hmm, Fitness = haven't really tried, so 2/10 Preparation= patchy, so could do better 5/10 Racecraft= generally better, but still the odd silly mistake 6/10 Performance = behind Fil, Ali and Andy R on identical bikes so obviously not good enough 6/10 Fun factor = overall I've enjoyed myself loads 8/10 Buying the right bike= with hindsight, NO, so 5/10 Desmodue as a series= 11/10 :D Overall, I fancied myself for a top 5 pre-season, revised that to a top 10 when I saw the standard of the opposition and how slow the 675s were, thought that I was there at Snet, threw it away at Donny, lost it at Brands, but still have a chance of ending on a high at Cadwell. Or something. [Edited on 12-9-2005 by paynep] |
and yours Phil??? |
Phil wanted to be the first Ginger person I think. Something to do with orange anyway. Just needs to fend off that Nick bloke at Cadwell :D Ginger people eh? Next thing you know they'll have bibs to match their hair!! |
Didn't have any goals (other than to rag it senseless everywhere), got a few points and started looking at the championship, had an oily moment and its back to the rag-it-senselsss theory. :( :) :o Incidentally, it's worth saying that the standard of riding, and the level of aggression (certainly nearer the front), has gone through the roof during the season. I can't imagine there's a single rider that hasn't improved their on-track skill over the last six months, so just because someone isn't moving up the grid doesn't mean they're not improving, it's just that everyone else is too. Cheers, Ali |

for sure the standard and competitiveness is improving all the time. im sure some experienced racers have, or will have, a bit of a surprise. i was doing low 58's on my monster at brands. last year i was doing high 58's on my 999s. |
I'm gunna dye my hair... ...blonde!! :D |

and change your name to Geoff and ride a baines bike...LOL |
Dom ya ****, not even ginger dye will be able to help you! |
These 'strawberry blondes' are a touch aggressive aint they :P Never mind, you can call me Geoffski De Cannowsky ;) [Edited on 12-9-2005 by domski] |
Competing in DD with all you friendly people has ticked every box I ever hoped it would! I never dreamt I'd have the speed or agility on a bike to be competitive with anybody, just goes to show what a fat old git can do  |
Well ! I don't care what you all _think_ you achieved, or what you _wanted_ ... I was personally very impressed with you all ! I had almost the best days racing ever (a faster bike would have been nicer, cos I only took 3.5s off my fastest lap times with my old clunkers :D) The buzz in the collecting area was awesome. The buzz on the grid was even better. The racing was close and gentlemanly ;) And you were all really nice to me although I was an interloper with a big gob ! I couldnt ask for more (except a faster bike) There are many people in this series that should just throw away their novice jackets - they are good, 'safe' (in that they are smooth and predictable, so other racers trust them), oh and fast too :D:o:D:o:sniff: Now you can throw away my comments if you like cos I'm not 'fast', but I have been racing for 3 full seasons, running 2 or 3 bikes, and entering up to 5 classes in one day, doing mostly 2-day meetings. Add it up.its alot of races in a short time, and I've raced with some really fast people, some really dangerous people, and some really famous people. I think you have all graduated already, and its not the end of term yet ! Roll on cadwell :sing: |

So my decision to put my money into another road bike instead of DD looks sound then... But you've probably summed me up quite well....and I thought we were mates :frog: |
What kind words Phil, whoever you're talking about. Didn't I tell you it wouldn't be too fierce! |

wait till next season. i think alot of riders and the series as a whole will come of age then. |
Anyway, what about my DD goals? To quote myself from the pronto interview: I do hope to finish the season somewhere in the top ten, and there’s one round where I’m dreaming of some silverware It would appear that I've got my top ten place cemented, but with (so far!) two results outside top ten (12th/13th). Unless I'm a complete nob at Cadwell (keep quiet Dom!) then I'll have 5th without too much trouble. The round I was dreaming of silverware has been and gone - I have my excuses and have learned lessons from it so all was not lost. But isn't this thread a little premature?? |
Well it's been a steep learning curve I can say that. I feel I haven't really improved that much but then as everyone else has I must have a bit and given there was only 11 seconds between first and me at Brands instead of the usual 20 I guess I must be getting better. I wanted to give it a go, I wanted to stay on, I wanted to improve if I could and I didn't want to dent my bike so thus far all boxes ticked. I didn't have any big expectations, i've been riding for 4 years and done many things in that time. This was one goal - check! See you at Cadwell :) |

I'm counting on you Nick ;) I'm hoping to be there to cheer you on and hopefully if it all goes well, I'll even shake yer hand  :D |

What, even after I've been a little premature? :o |
