1 Year service/ How happy am I

Well, My 749R went in monday night 3.30pm for its 1 year service and it was supposed to be ready this afternoon but come 5.00pm no phone call to say it was ready so I rang the dealer who said that it would be better to leave it until wednesday as the technician did not want to rush it to get it back to me tonight.

Got me wondering what the f**k is the bill going to be like if they have had it all this time with apparently no major problems to deal with, what the hell have they been doing all day ?

I asked if there was anything to report and the only suggestion was that I could do with a new rear tyre which I told them to leave as for one the bill would be bad enough and for two the tyre looked good for another 1000 miles or so to me, so it can wait until over the winter for this.

Whats the guessing on my bill tomorrow then ??

£705 inc VAT. And that's without the new belts, which the dealer had replaced a couple months before.

They had to find me a chair.

iang 20-Sep-2005 20:20

I think that I had better take the oxygen cylinder and mask with me then !!!!!

moto748 20-Sep-2005 20:21

Anything else fitted except normal service items?

Carbon749 20-Sep-2005 20:39

guess based on basic 1 year service, no belts £265.

That's about £40 more than I paid for my 749s service

pedro 20-Sep-2005 21:08

£250

bradders 20-Sep-2005 21:13

£400

GsxrAge 20-Sep-2005 21:26

£600 + your kidney and your house deeds :P

philthy 20-Sep-2005 21:46

£700 for a service??????

Did they itemise the bill?

How did they justify the price?

Wylie1 20-Sep-2005 22:01

My 1st year service (on 749s) cost approx £180 from an official ducati dealer :D

Bill was fully itemised and the labour charged was exactly the time specified for the 12k service. Maybe some dealers knock something off. I suspect they just don't like me!

The Big Red One 20-Sep-2005 22:04

I think £360 including the vat. Do we win a prize for the right amount?

Loz 20-Sep-2005 22:11

Is it a cash prize?

The Big Red One 20-Sep-2005 22:43

I don't think it would be a cash prize as he will need it all to get his bike back:lol:

bradders 20-Sep-2005 23:58

Loz - dont know where you got it serviced mate, but that sounds WAY expensive if just a normal service!!

Pah! That's nuffing! I collected my 999S on Saturday and the bill was well into four figures... though it was for more than just a service :rolleye:

duck 21-Sep-2005 07:45

£600

Is it in for a 6K service or a 12K service???

Chris.:burn:

iang 21-Sep-2005 09:51

6000 mile service but I have only done about 2300 miles with no problems to report apart from the occasional cutting out when cold and sometimes at junctions, I usually just ride around this by blipping the throttle to keeep the revs up.

I listed a few items that I had read about on the site, recalls, known faults etc, but I presumed that these would be looked at under the warranty part of the service and the labour involved in checking these not billed to me.

I also put in a claim for a new slipper clutch as I believe there is a recall to replace the original clutch with a modified or Bucci one but as I have already bought a new one myself I wanted some compensation in return.
I am not holding my breath on this !

You'll get multiple applications from TP for this prize:lol:

I'll say £412.69p inc vat

misterpink 21-Sep-2005 12:44

so..they didn't quite push it up to the £749 then, i guess a 999 is close to a £1,000 to service - bring back the lira !

iang 21-Sep-2005 13:50

And the winner is,

Wylie1

I am so happy I need to go and buy something new to celibrate, ordered the new bar risers, time for some rearsets I think.

Total cost of my 1 year ( 6000 mile ) sevice with all my quierys seen to, cam timing done, mixture set, brakes bled, oil, filter, sump washer, fuel filter, spark plugs, etc etc was an incredible £189.00 all in

Oh I am so happy :sing::sing::sing::sing::sing::sing:
