I had a crash..

last Thursday night, in pouring rain, i lost control of my bike while trying to brake..

looks like its going to be a write off..
my helmet is - a friend of my friend works for Arai, they done the test, sort of x-ray.. he said i was lucky to have that thing on my head and not any other helmet..

my right arm didnt work at all first 2 days, hit the shoulder badly. my head was dizzy and i wanted to throw up all night.. when was taken to hospital that night - they done x-rays, nothing broken. so thats a good thing..

the bad thing - no biking this year for me..:(

TP 04-Oct-2005 23:10

Nooooo!!!!

That sucks! You must be a bit tender and sore at the moment I imagine.

Wow, you poor thing. You'll get your insurance payout and get yourself a new bike soon enough. Good luck with everything and I hope you heal quickly!

:(

Twinfan 04-Oct-2005 23:11

Look on the bright side - new bike shopping beckons!

Redruth 04-Oct-2005 23:13

Sorry to hear about this SW. Obviously you had concussion. Glad nothing was broken but I know it's painful even without breaking any bones.

Don't let it put you off biking though. Everyone has accidents. Good excuse to start shopping for a new Ducati. You'll be fine.

:bouncy::bouncy:

Glade your ok SW, first rule of bike crashes is never ever tell you’re mum about it if you are in
a good enough condition to keep it from her.

Hope your not to sore and get your money though soon.

:saint:

madmav 05-Oct-2005 00:49

Let me know if you need anything rubbing beter;)

Loz 05-Oct-2005 00:55

Sorry to hear about this SW.
Get better soon and don't tell your mum!

BDG 05-Oct-2005 01:10

:( Sorry to hear, main thing is you're all right but still hope you get the insurance job sorted with minimum ag.

Mad Dog Bianchi 05-Oct-2005 07:10

Very sorry to hear of the crash, happy to know you had a good helmet and no broken bones. How did it happen. Maybe you can give us some more details so that we can all learn from the experience.
Moms worry and rightly so, about their kids all the time. i hide stuff from mine all the time, but she deserves more credit for being open minded about my follies. Non-bikers don't understand the drive behind us nuts who get back on two wheels the first chance we get. Good luck and again, good to hear that you came out pretty unscathed.

bradders 05-Oct-2005 08:40

GWS:(

Crunchy 05-Oct-2005 09:23

Sorry to hear about your accident. We all have one sooner or late. I had a big one this year, also cracked me helm. The biggest problem I have found after the accident (apart from the pain:sniff: ) is psychological. Getting back on a bike as soon as possible is the only cure.

The next Duc should be a red one though.....there better in the rain;) Everyone knows you can easily "tie a yellow Duc around an old oak tree":D

dickieducati 05-Oct-2005 10:40

SW, sorry to hear the news hopefully you'll be feeling yourself again soon (no pun intended) and be back on a bike again soon. GWS.

Half man half mole 05-Oct-2005 10:59

Sorry to hear the news - get well soon.

After over twenty years with two wheels as my only transport, I have decided to ride just for the pleasure of it now. I used to ride in rain, sleat, snow, ice - the lot and binned my bikes at least once a year due to the conditions. I no longer ride in poor conditions as it gives me no pleasure. Thats why cars were invented. Just my personal oppinion.

Glad it hasn't damaged your enthusiasm. Feel better soon.

Moley :rodent:

Gaz 748 05-Oct-2005 12:07

Glad you are ok, don`t let it put you off.
Get your car fixed and use that in the rain.
Hope to see you soon.
pop up to boxhill on the 4th sunday, if you have your car back :D

SupraWoman 05-Oct-2005 13:00

thanks everyone for warm words

still waiting for an engineer to call mee - they are never quick with this sort of response lol

next time I'm going to get a yellow - yes, again. :P everything have to be colour co-ordinated LOL and white helmet - again.. LOL

If I'll get my car back b4 Xmas - I'll be very lucky

I cant believe how much I miss my bike already :sniff:

keefer 05-Oct-2005 13:16

hope you get it all sorted SW

Hope all is going well :)
I once had a spill with my girfriend on the back, she didnt go home to her mums for 3 days till her limp had gone :)

Mums just dont like bikes, I think there faces are great when you pop in and tell em you've just bought a new one, and what follows.........

Just you be careful.

I think we all must have heard that one.

GetWellSoon Supra.

Brent 05-Oct-2005 20:08

Thats ashame, i know how you feel as ive had 2 crashes on the bike this year alone, most important thing if your going to continue biking is what did you learn from it???
1 of my biking rules is dont ride in the rain, too much can go wrong, especially when your running the wrong tires for the rain.

At least your ok !! GWS.

/ian

P.S heres my new Helmet i got today, its the best money can buy !!Arai RX-7 Corsair, worth every penny.

Only Just seen this SW...Sorry to hear your news. Get back on the bike straight away. The longer you leave it the more your self confidence diminishes.
A friend on this board told me that there are two types of rider, one that crashed and one that's gonna crash. It happens to us all at some time or another (Me, alot!)
Get well soon!:)

yorkshire pud 15-Oct-2005 15:01

:o;)

philthy 29-Oct-2005 20:58

Now you know why you should always wear your best clean knickers when you are out on the bike.

You could have ended up in A & E having your jeans cut off. Just imagine if you had the old pair on with the holes in. How embarrasing would that have been?

I ALWAYS wear my best black lace ones under my long johns, just in case;)

Glad you'r O.K.:D

sye73 29-Oct-2005 23:22

Sorry to hear of your accident SW......get well soon :bouncy:
