HOW MUCH ?????

Ive been following a 999S exhaust system that been on e bay for a week. It finishes at 19:15 tonight. The price has jumped from £360 to £1020 in the last five minutes.
Are people really that desperate for one that they'll pay over the odds for them?
I'm loathed to pay £1000 for an exhaust system (but probably will) but at least if I get it from a dealer it will have a warranty.
Terrible thing -------Envy!

There aren't that many used exhausts for the newer bikes on fleabay, its probably the old demand vs supply thingie kicking in...but you're right about idiots though, some of them think its gotta be cheaper just because its on eBay

hello gents, hope your both well.
the auction finishes in a couple of minutes so i will watch and see if the bidding goes any higher.
Im now torn between £1000 for a new exhuast or keeping the cash and saving for a new bike next year - DOH

Dont forget that the system should come with the matching ECU.

Which is no use unless yours is the first bike it is being fitted to :rolleye:

Race ECU's supplies with exhaust systems become "programmed" to the first bike they are fitted to , they will not work on any other bike afterwards.

If the "system" which started this thread off was a full sysytem and not assymetric £1020 is not that bad a price , a 54mm full system new would be almost £2K and a 57mm full system £2.5K

Supply and demand I think it's called :burn:

Does anybody else think that £2.5K is just taking the **** for a bit of bent tubing and a box stuffed with wadding?

I believe Moto Rapido were making their own 999/749 exhaust systems - the one I saw in there a few months ago was stunning

Personally? No !

But I used to work at a CAA/AQD approved metal stockholder and sold lots of exotic metal alloys to the aerospace industry. High heat nickel alloys, aerospace grade aluminium and titanium, that sort of stuff. We sold it in every type of form as well such as sheet, bar, tube, hexagonal section etc.

During this time I had a load of contacts with small engineering businesses, fabricators of all manner of aircraft parts and even one man outfits who specialised in milling or welding or some such trade. The sort of 'lifetimes experience' blokes who could probably knock something like that up in their sleep.

I still say that £2.5K is a silly amount of money for an exhaust.

Posdn,

Cough up and join the DSC and you get 10% off bits at some dealers. If you are thinking of Blowing £1k at a dealers on a drainpipe you'll be well ahead on the deal.

It never ceases to amaze me what some will pay for stuff on e-bay.

Ray
