Lefty or righty?

Just curious really, is there a 50/50 split of left handed people and right handed people.

Also if you're left handed how do you find using a throttle?

John, you missed out the ambidextrous catagory, I am mainly right handed but used to be able to write with either hand. Can't write with either now of course since all we do nowadays is type.................

John

....That's because I couldn't spell it

'kin hell Jon, busy Friday afternoon

philthy 21-Oct-2005 15:45

Depends what I'm doing......:saint:

phillc 21-Oct-2005 15:48

Left handed.

No problems using the throttle and front brake.

Like right hand corners better.

Prefer driving manual cars in Britain, rather than Europe, because I can change gears with my left hand.

Write, throw, bowl, bat, cut, stir, **** all with my left hand.

Usually on the right hand handlebar..........:frog:
No, sorry, it's second nature.
It's just like me asking how do you use a clutch as a right hander?
Both require an amount of finesse to use effectively.

Can you tell? bit like yourself then Shaunetta! Oh hang on it's not "the weekend" yet :P

Rushjob 21-Oct-2005 15:53

The corner thing I think is more down to view into the bend than being r or l handed... when I'm on the Continent I prefer left handers....

dickieducati 21-Oct-2005 16:15

i'm right handed.

wear my watch on my right hand too

but eat left handed.

i guess that makes me a muppet!

Ducnow 21-Oct-2005 16:25

Left handed.

They say that what really matters is to check which eye you close and leave open when your aimming (like with a rifle). If you close your right eye and aim with your left eye you're a left handed, and vice versa.

Brent 21-Oct-2005 17:56

Lefty for most things, but golf/batting right handed. When I was little, teachers tried to make us "inbred left handed menaces to society" write with our right hands....

Do you lay on your left arm for a while so it goes numb and you can pretend it's someone else?

ahem ...

I'm completely right handed, like every other normal person ;)

Having said that, I did everything left handed when I broke my right wrist when I was a kid ... made me a mroe complete basketball player and helped me go on to play A grade ... I still couldn't write with my left hand though ...

Im right handed but I always use my left eye to aim a gun.

chief 21-Oct-2005 18:46

Strewth JPM you looking for a witch hunt to get rid off all us lefties or something?
Were not all Freaks you know :P

but just for the record I have no problems with any of the controls on my bike.
However I appear to suffer from an incredible lack of abillity, which I put down to having a left handed Uncle.

Yes. What's your point?

And on the aiming a rifle point above, I want to say that yes I aim with my left eye.

I also pull the trigger with my left index finger. This actually makes bolt action rifles a complete and utter pain, unless they had been set up especially for a left hander. Otherwise one has to reach up and over the barrel to work the bolt. Makes it almost impossible to stop spent cartridges flying off into the bush, which is no good if you're doing your own reloads.

I've seen plenty of people shooting rifles as a right hander would but aiming with their left eye. And left handers getting sprayed with hot empty cases because the ejection port of the rifle is still on the right hand side.

Which is expecially funny when using the F88 Steyr and they don't realise that the second trigger pressure is actually for automatic fire!!

Oh how we laughed ....

Ditto for me, born left handed, teachers changed all of that. They say that the practice of getting kids to change from left to right handed can have psychological implications later in life.

I DON'T SEE IT HAS EVER AFFECTED ME - AWROIT? :flame: ;)

Left handed, just like McCartney, Hendrix, Einstein, Dylan, Da Vinci and Beethooven.

Only 10% of the globes population is left handed, but 70% of Mensa members are. So, if you're a lefty, you're likely to have a higher than average IQ too.

AK 21-Oct-2005 22:14

am left hander:) - and for some reason, a mensa member too:o:puzzled:

AK is right handed.... and definately NOT a mensa member;)

philthy 21-Oct-2005 22:31

Wot's all this malarkey about closing eyes while shooting? How do you ever hit anything if your eyes are shut?

If you close one eye you would need to make sure that you kept the same tension on that eye for each shot otherwise you alter your sight picture.

If you keep both eyes open you are not upsetting the equilibrium in your facial muscles surrounding your eyes, and you will therefore have a more accurate and constant sight picture.

This will enable you to hit the tin can and claim your goldfish.

rcgbob44 21-Oct-2005 23:04

I`m right handed but one of my sons is a lefty!

Best I put him down methinks!

Flood lit American Skeet Shooting at Lakenheath US Base

I find the use of Two Eyes Is best.

My good shooting friend Mr Duso is available for coaching and gun fitting over the winter

Any one Fancy busting some clays u2u me.

We have the guns and are well known on the clay shooting circuit In Essex

Good fun and very addictive.

Left handed and left master eye, Me

Both eyes open but master left looks at the target up the barrel.
that way where you look the gun points.

Aiming is a big No No with a Shot Gun because if you look at the gun you miss.

I used to shoot with a Remington alto with a right hand eject,
only with glasses on mind.

:)

Monty 22-Oct-2005 01:23

I had a Remington 5 shot gas eject years ago-now that was FUN, expensive on cartridges though............. I used to shoot clays in Essex, lived in Navestock, friends were farmers and we used to set up our own shoots.

I guess not given the tone of the posts!
