I once choked Linda Lovelace!:o:D |
I once sold a push-bike to Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees...its pretty thin, but when you come from Biggin Hill, you tend to impress easily :o |
I got Mr Pastrys autograph once:D |
I had my photograph in a local paper with John Inman when I was 6 yrs! |
I shared a race paddock with Barry Sheen-we were next to him actually-both in Transit Vans-his was old and battered, ours was hired. This would have been 1971 at Croft, he was riding his 125cc Suzuki twin GP bike-he won of course-and we crashed................. John |
In the late 70's i got caught climbing over the back wall of number 10 Downing Street. I was drunk and the police didn't believe i was trying to visit my Uncle Jim Callaghan. This was in the days when you could actually walk up Downing Street before big security measures. In my days as a football holigan (in the mid 70's) i was on TV being dragged out of the crowd by the police after a big fight. Big close up view on TV. My family were less than impressed. This is not a claim to fame i am proud of, bit of a stupid knob when i was young. Better claim to fame was myself & partner winning Business of the Decade in the Greater Manchester area, as we were originally sponsored by the Princes Youth Business Trust, and meeting Prince Charles. Then being able to act as an advisor to a few other new starters. |
A few years ago OK many years ago I was in a Security Team that was hired to guard the contents within the largest Tent in Europe. It held all the Major Companies of Britain's top brands and products, this was to celebrate the Queens Silver Jubilee. It was held in Hyde Park, London. After my shift had finished I went for my usual morning run of about 5/6 miles . I found that I was closing in on a group of runners, although only one looked like he had any fitness. As I passed them one of the guys asked if I new where I was and did I now this place, I replied I did and could I help. He wanted to find the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane so I told him to get across to the other side of the Park and turn left down Potten Row that will lead you onto Park Lane the hotel being just across the road, still not sure of this imfo he asks me if I could lead his team there, looking at these guys I thought I could do them a favour as they all looked knacked. I led of at my normal pace only to be asked fairly soon if I could drop the pace a bit as this guy was wearing "leaded" shoes and the other lot throwing up along the way:lol: The one condition I agreed to do this was to get this guys autograph when we arrived at the Dorchester for I did immedietly realise who this guy was, much to my surprise. The out rider's that were running with him were his BG boys(bodyguards) When we finally arrived at the hotel sure enough he got pen and paper and gave me his autograph and I was chuffed as a chuffer's chuffer. it was Mohamed Ali Other events have been two entries into the Guiness Book of Records. 4D [Edited on 22-10-2005 by Fordie] |
err, mostly 'equestrian'... Judged in front of the Queen (class was held up, whilst we waited for her to come down from the castle) at Royal Windsor Horse show, in the main ring. Got instructed to visit Royal Box after, for coffee to discuss merits of exhibits! - nice lady to chat to:) Trod on Prince Phillips foot:o in the 80's, when coming out of a marquee, at same show. Also, pushed Peter Gabriel off his pony during a gymkhana race, when at pony club in the early 70's:lol::lol: Non horsey: Cadged a lift with our service engineer (when I worked in the glazing trade) to see a mega huge conservatory we had done 2 years previously, where he was going to fix a door handle. Couldnt believe my luck, as the owner was home, along with his brothers, who were visiting:o - managed to get ALL the Bee-Gees autographs, and a photo of moi with them too!!! C, now leading a sedentary life..... |
I had the pleasure of being present at the original announcement of the ceasefire of Northern Ireland in 1995. We were responsible for flying the then Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Patrick Mayhew over the provence to visit all the patrol bases and outlying police stations and meetings with Sein Fein representatives and government officials, doing all the leg work to make the ceasefire a success. I had an excellent photo taken with him at the border near a village called Kiltirk with Clones the Southern Ireland village where Barry McGuigan is from in the background. The 2 of us are shaking hands over a border crossing point which was later destroyed as a gesture of goodwill in the steps towards the ceasefire. The photo takes pride of place beside my medals. |

Had a chat with Mick Doohan in the 1st class lounge at heathrow. Had a p*ss with Michal Douglass in the concorde lounge, and met his wife. Get to see a lot of famous at Heathrow :biaggi: |
Hmmmmm.... I used to bump into Ducan Bannatyne regularly when he was just a multi-millionaire and not famous before 'dragons lair' etc.... but more importantly - been mountain biking in the past with Chris Walker - totally top bloke. Not bad for a scally from Hartlepool :lol::lol: Frank |

MONKEY HANGER. Frank I used to work on Powlett Rd in Hartlepool. Lived in Peterlee, went to Hartlepool for a batchelor night. One of the lads took a toy monkey on a piece of washing line  Not a good move. :flame: Interesting night. |
HRH Princess Anne used my bedroom as a powder room when she was visiting the Shetland Islands. And I was allowed to keep all my posters from MSN up on the walls. |

My name is in the credits of about 3 million arcade video game machines, as I helped out with one back in the mid nineties. I've got quite a few "famous" friends too, one from a boy-band who had their own TV show and another who is the drummer in a quite well known band you may have heard of. |
Once made the Radio 2 afternoon Traffic Report " Police are undertaking rolling roadblocks on the M1 in Nottinghamshire whilst dealing with an incident" Pursuit Training can be fun! |
I made local TV and press when I presented Princess Ann with a bird box i'd made when she opened the new OT department at Harlow Wood Orthapaedic hospital. I was the longest serving patient, so got collared for the job........... Following last weeks jaunt to Belgium i've made an apearence on Broc Parkes webite, the superbiker website (just) and troy Corser bought me a drink :) Oh yeah, and Lord Rattler lets me look after his bike ;) |

My sister used to work for Radio 1 years ago (and sang backing vocals for U2 when they recorded one of the Radio 1 sessions). She then moved to work as a label manager for Warner Bros (I think) and got me a gig playing bass on Top Of The Pops for Fairground Attraction (playing 'it ASDA be-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee perfect') when they needed a session bass player in a big hurry. Got down there and couldn't play 'cos I needed an equity card - there goes my 15 minutes  Another claim to fame is that I once threw Black Lace out of the rehearsal studio my band was rehearsing in - we were double booked but we got there first and of course they tried the "do you know who we are" routine...I ask you? Trying to pull rank just cos you've had a crappy Eurovision song...resulted in a bit of 'Agadoo that ya bastid' and 'push pineapple up yer a...' Oh and my other sister is a freelance TV director and just about to start directing the new series of 'Two pints....' |

Nice. My cousin worked as a producer/director of adverts for many years, working with Walkers, Ford, Vauxhall, Rowntrees and lots of other companies to film their adverts. He also did the odd pop video, and used to employ my missus in them when they needed extras. He's now moved into television and is working on the Paul O'Grady (Lily Savage) Show at the mo - you'll spot the surname in the credits if you're at home when it's on... |

Been in RiDE magazine and got asked for an autograph off the back of that  Used to work at MCN and had a small piece published on the website and in the paper :) Did a test feature on a Fazer V Hornet V Bandit a while after I left there. Still know a few of them at Emap towers, so you may see myself or Couch appearing now and then to help out with features. I get to do more now then I did working at the place :rolleye: [Edited on 24-10-2005 by Grib] |
Ended up on the end of Look North one winter. I ignored a road closed sign up on the moors (bet that doesn't surprise RushJ!) to have thrash along a snow covered road, they filmed me driving along without me knowing, set it to music and played the result at the end of local news!! Ray |

 Not quite! Although Matt Goss used to live in the same apartment block as me, next to Tower Bridge, so I used to bump into him quite a lot in the shop across the road or down in the underground parking. My friend who was in a boyband in still only 22, even though they got ditched by the record company five years ago. Hard to believe they had a top 5 single, won numerous "Smash Hits" awards and toured Europe and Japan. Now he's a network manager for a media company! My mate's brother has sold around 20 million albums to date and they've just announced a(nother) tour of Australia next year. It's quite handy cos his brother moved out to Aus last month, so I'm going to try an coincide a work trip to our Hong Kong / Tokyo / Singapore offices so I can go visit, and maybe go see them play as well.
