I am considering having the swinging arm of my S4R powder coated satin black.

If I provide the pic could someone please show what it would look like ???

Ta in anticipation.

Feel free to send it to ali@bisson.com and I'll see what I can do. My web connection's really dodgy though so if you don't hear back inside 30 mins then that's why....

Cheers,

Ali

Why black? won't You not be able to see it so well, or is that the idea?

Best thing I have done today is to take of the pillion hangers off looks much neater and, you can the swingarm much better to:)

No one never wants to go on the back :lol when i had 748s mono eveyone wanted a go :lol

Guess im best of putting bolts back in holes left after removing hangers?

Broadband has decided to play ball for a little bit, so I thought it post up the result.

Clever stuff. Can you give us novices a quick guide how you did this?

Nothing too clever I'm afraid....

Copy the chunk of image which has the swingarm in it onto a new layer.
Delete everything that isn't swingarm (eraser tool).
Ctrl-click the little layer preview window (gives an exact cutout marquee).
Create a new layer and use the paint can tool to fill the marquee with black.
Run the opacity slider down until you see the highlights come through.
Merge the two layers (still looks murky).
Use "Image/Adjustments/Brightness & Contrast" to tweak the highlights up.
Use "Save for web" so you can leave the layers open.

In this case it was easy because the require finish (satin) was the same as the alloy finish, so the highlights look the same.

You can use the same process to colour objects, just use a coloured fill not black. See attached nastiness....

And I'm definitely no expert! I learnt how to use ps many years back, and have kept all my bad habits since!

Cheers,

Ali
