Hi, new guy with a ? hi!, i'm new to the forum and not too sure what i'm doin' yet! Had a good look round and had a good chuckle at some of the postings, have to say i'm very impressed! Anyway, i have an '03 900ss(bloody love the thing) and have been looking for some decent end cans to beef the sound up a bit more... Don't really want to go the high level route as i like the way they are.....plus my wife comes out with me and likes to keep her feet toasty.. Can any of you guys help me..? |
Welcome, Always nice to have more SS owners on the board - there is a wealth of information here. Make good use of the search function :) Ebay might be your friend for the end cans - I'm actually looking to go the other way on my carby SS - I have Hi-level, but wifey was to be able to come out for the 'odd' ride and does not want her knees on her chin - (LOL - NO comments pls). Depends if you want to remain road legal or not - I guess one way to go would be to get another set of standard cans and have them 'cored' - eg - packing and internals removed. I'm not sure if the '03 models are fuel inj or not but if so - you would need to be looking for either another ECU or a power commander I imagine. Good luck - Frank |
Hello and welcome mate mines a dry blackthorn  Age |
I find it soothing..... |
Cheers Frank Spoke to a guy with some Ducati Performance cans (unfortunately Hi-level) and says the ecu should cope fine, tho it does come with a wider airbox cover. I'll have a mooch on E-bay... Thanks guys |
hi m8 you have found the best CLUB around enjoy i'll have a pint with a double chaser |
Micron Carbon Cans I've got a 750ss and got Micron cans direct from the manufacturer. Bought on Ebay for £200! They are high level but you could modify the brack to take a set of pegs. I have a set of low level link pipes if they are of any use to you. The 750 and 900 use the same exhausts. Oh btw i have not needed to change the ecu. I do have a bit of a stutter though at 4000rpm but not enough to warrant spending any more money. Welcome to the club as well!!! |
My 900SS has Ducati Performance hi level Titanium cans.Ducati do pillion pegs to go with these in the catalogue but never looked.Came with modded airbox but no ECU and run fine.No fuelling problems at all.Transform the bike i must say. Also consider altering the gearing, abig improvement to.Shop around for genuine cans there are some good deals if you ask.Have fun and get it on a trackas soon as possible! |
Like to stick with ducati stuff if poss. anyone know if it would be possible to fit hi-level Performance end cans into the standard link pipes without too much modification or would i lose the pillion pegs/bracket..? Seems a bit of a shame to spoil the lines coz i love em where they are..! Want to do some trackdays in the new year but never done one before so really excited but brickin' it !! Not long got married so not enough cash..! :D:D Cheers for the info and welcome lads (didn't think it would cost me so much at the bar tho!) ;) [Edited on 14-11-2005 by Chief R.B.] |

You just missed a set of Bora cans for an SS on eBay. These are standard cans that have had the catalytic converters and all the restrictive gubbins removed to make them into straight through pipes. You could get this done to your own cans, or try and get a secondhand set off eBay and get it done to them. It should be relatively cheap to do and will keep the standard looks. I've got a set of Bora cans on my 888 and it sounds luverly |
I have a set of standard level carbon SIL cans on my 2002 900ssie. Pics here: http://flickr.com/photos/phillc/51907417/ http://flickr.com/photos/phillc/51907419/ I also used these on my previous 750ssie. They swap across no problem. Originally bought them from Nelly at Cornerspeed for a good price. I haven't changed ECU and have a bad "cough" at 4,000 rpm. This should be fixable with correct tuning. I would like high level cans, and believe that the hangers can be modded to keep the footpegs, but it raises the hight of the pegs and probably wouldn't be so comfortable for your passenger. I've also taken the trumpets off the airbox and changed to a 14t front sprocket. |
Just had a look at your pics Phil. Nice bike, but are you sure that the fully adjustable shock is made by Brembo? |

No, no I'm not. Which is why I've just changed that information so I look like I know what I'm talking about! :-P Thanks for picking me up on that. |
Both sets look good, like the redracing cans.. Thanks for the pics. At least i know i can get them, none of the big manufacturers seem to make them, i'll have a look around and see in the new year - FAT chance anyone will buy me some for xmas !! Gorgeous weather at the weekend and missed both days..then the first salt went down sun evening...D'oh !! [Edited on 15-11-2005 by Chief R.B.] |
