Any idea\'s what causes this Rear slick after WeeJohnnyB has been at it. |
That\'ll be those invisible corner monsters with a file!!! ....it doesn't matter how far you lean over, you'll never see them!! |
A lack of respect for other peoples belongings!!! You're the man WJB |
To much spining the rear up when cranked over on a very hot track. I saw several sets of Super Corsas looking like that |
They hide in the gravel you know!!!!! |
That doesn't mean you have to keep going to look for them Tim. |
But they jump out at you when you least expect it..... ......and Jamie I know you've been looking for them too!!! - Muppet!! |
Ok guys so the concensus is that it's caused by the track being too hot?? I have too say that it was DAM hot on Saturday and WJB was complaining about the rear spinning up very easily, especially on the right hander leading onto club straight-powerful things these 250's. John |
Its the monsters I tell ya!!!! |
Now Tim, don't you go telling WJB that-I don't want him spending his time in the gravel traps looking for them like you.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: John |
I had a road tyre do this ( BT56s) on my ZX6r about two years ago (on a track day), again the concensous was that the track was hot /tyres pressures wrong ! Spoke to my tyre dealer & he said the pressure was prob wrong on the day ! :( [Edited on 13-8-2003 by Totto] |
My rear 208GP* looks worse :o Caused by to much heat from the engine, heating up the rear shock so losing all the damping. The extra heat from the engine was caused by the crank shells deciding to have a look around the inside of the crank cases  |
Ouch.... Sounds expensive Scuffy. |
Did you use tyre warmers???, as it looks like cold tear, happens with warm tyres on a cold track & cold tyres on a hot track, if I am wrong I am sure some one of wiser knowlege will correct me:) Chris. |
Old Yella You take your duke to Nelly's dont you ? Mines the 748 spread all over the workshop in a thousand pieces :o |
i saw that one with the buggered engine, the tyres did look quite bubbled..... ouch on the wallet stew |
Not so much ouch! But an end to trackdays for rest of the year:( |
Try these for size! LS |
Donington the day after the MOTOGP - hot, hot day and SC1 front. |
Tim, I think your tyres are sh@gged. Welll I found out what the problem was on the TZ-the rebound damping was 5, yes 5 (out of 20) clicks off the recommended setting, too dam soft. John |
I had the same thing with my rear 208gp at Almeria. The tyre which was a soft compound I took to my local tyre dealer, Wheelhouse, He commented that the 208gp's are prone to tearing, the reason being that, if they are not allowed to heat up right through to the carcass, the surface keeps peeling back. Other than that get your rear suspenders set up right. |
Seen this many times on my race bike (and can be much worse), caused by : a) Riding too hard on cold tyres - use tyre warmers or do a couple of gentle laps to start with. b) Rear suspension not set up properly and as a result, the tyres are having to work too hard. c) Wrong tyre pressures. |
I'd say B above. This is tear not wear My 748 developed the same pattern at donington after a session where i had upped the compression damping 2 clicks front and back. Changed it back and the pattern returned to the nice chewing gum at the edge look, and smoother across the middle. |
It was suspension Keith. I have got it set up nicely now and the tyres are a smooth as a baby's bum.;) John |
Basically Monty, you hairy old scrotum, your rear suspension isn't working. Cheers. Lee. |
