Revised Calendar

Anyone else seen the proposed first points scoring meeting may now be Brands on 23rd April and not Cadwell Park on March 26th? :(

I was looking forward to March, now I might have to wait till end of April to get out there ...

Its a shame ... what do others think?

antonye 01-Dec-2005 17:19

It'll still be a race, just not a points scoring one. Trust me that this will make it even worse than a points scoring race!

fil2 01-Dec-2005 17:24

it can be points scoring if WE the dd riders want it ..email the race committe your thoughts......................

Phil

GlennG 01-Dec-2005 17:26

Maybe .. but will everyone enter Cadwell incurring all the costs for no points, knowing that any mistakes/crashes could jepordize being ready for Brands?

antonye 01-Dec-2005 17:27

Lol, like that stopped anyone this season!

If you're thinking of riding like that, then there's no point in racing, imho...

TP 01-Dec-2005 17:27

I'd prefer to start in April honestly, it will cold, windy and miserable in March!

couchcommando 01-Dec-2005 17:29

I would prefer points scoring at all the UK rounds, it wouldn't bother me if Assen was none points scoring as not all the competitors can make that one and for me Assen is a pure fun thing, also we don't get a lot of practice there which will penalise slow learners like me LOL ;) ;)

But the dates look very very good, I am excited :)

ChrisBushell 01-Dec-2005 17:29

TP dont tell me you are missing the warm sunny sands of Bondi?:sing:

Nup, the warm sunny sands of the Gold Coast I am though!

That's why I'm going back there in January!!

:D

GlennG 01-Dec-2005 17:42

"Lol, like that stopped anyone this season!"
But this season weren't all rounds points scoring?

"I would prefer points scoring at all the UK rounds, it wouldn't bother me if Assen was none points scoring as not all the competitors can make that one "
Agreed

"But the dates look very very good, I am excited"
I'll second that :)

us too.

However we did put that idea to the RC early last month, and have been told it isnt up for discussion.

We are still going tho, just have the feeling it could be hard on anyone who doesnt get onto the grid for whatever means - either cost, or oversubscription of riders..........

Am still happy to donate cash for this to be a 'prize' race - and am sure other members would donate too:) and this could alleviate the need for it to then be points - but cash instead.

C:)

antonye 01-Dec-2005 17:50

So what happens if a rider doesn't get onto the grid at Assen because it's full/over subscribed, and they'd already planned to use their "joker" to drop two races by missing a different round due to other commitments?

:puzzled:

AK 01-Dec-2005 17:53

exactly the point we were trying to make Antony:)

the idea of Assen being a 'prize' event I really like. I would put £10 into a prize fund and if the other 44 riders did likewise we would have a nice fund for the winners, anyone else agree ?

psychlist 01-Dec-2005 18:07

I don't know if I will be able to afford to go to Assen, especially as we're told it would cost £150 to get the bike "transported", and does that include getting the bike to the transporter? Never mind the cost of getting me and my 25 pit crew there!! But then again, if it's a points scoring round maybe I couldn't afford NOT to do it ;)

GlennG 01-Dec-2005 18:18

I emailed Chris regarding wishing Cadwell to be points scoring, incorrectly it appears, rather than reword his comments I thought I'd just copy his reply here, which he wished for (I hope I understood you right Chris):

"You should post your comments back to Desmodue@ducatisportingclub.com please.

You are not the only person who has already been in touch about this, making the same point and I assume that it was you who started the thread on the message board.

Please point out on the thread that comments should go back to the above address and we will review feedback say on Monday and come back to the riders."

So lets get emailing and fingers crossed for Monday then :)

Rattler 01-Dec-2005 18:34

I'll vote for Cadwell to be points scoring - makes sense.

I'd rather start in April, but if there's a race in March it must be points scoring and I'll be there!!! ;)

Tim

Rattler 01-Dec-2005 18:36

Just sent an email to Desmodue@ducatisportingclub.com to let them know my thoughts - if you agree, you'd best do likewise.

Tim

Done, by your command, m'lud ;)

Rattler 01-Dec-2005 19:20

Seems that if Cadwell is scoring then we might keep Snett to a single long race and not the proposed 3 races (over the weekend).

I'd be happy to do 3 races at Snett, but for anyone who can't make that weekend or falls off in Sat practice, they'd be forced to drop points. Seems a bit unfair.

Tim

NBs996 01-Dec-2005 19:21

Have done likewise, cos Tim said so!

But to share my thoughts...
All UK rounds - points
Assen - Prizes - I'll volunteer a tenner for the prize pot too.

Tonio600 01-Dec-2005 20:02

I don't know between what and what I must choose... What's sure is that I would prefer not to start at Cadwell in March. I'd be happy with Brands as a first round.

AK 01-Dec-2005 20:07

Wasnt there a vote in October about when the series was to start?:puzzled:

and to echo NBs:

UK = points scoring

Assen = cash prizes

also to add:
Snetterton: 2 usual races on one day, lose the long race.

Have just emailed DD to indicate thoughts about points (again) and also about Snett

A & C:)

lizzie 01-Dec-2005 20:24

Yes Charlotte - there was a vote as to when the series should start - and a very significant majority of riders didn't want to start until Brands Hatch in April. However, the opportunity arose to have a round at Cadwell and there was a view that, particularly given there will be a mixture of new novices and those that competed last year, it may be useful for those that wanted to to go out and play at Cadwell (bear in mind that the same event at Cadwell last year was abandoned due to the weather conditions). By making it non-scoring, there is no 'compulsion' for the majority that voted against racing there that early in the year.

As to Assen and a long race - again, both of these have already been voted on and again the majority of riders wanted both to go ahead (and the reason for the race discard was purely for Assen (there would be no reason for a discard for the UK races in the same way that there was no reason for a discard this year)).

What is the point of revisiting these things again and again - the riders (including the majority that are not regular board visitors) have already voted on all these subjects.

ALL RACES CASH PRIZES AND POINTS SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.I will be happy to put my tenner in each race

[Edited on 1-12-2005 by boggy 8]

AK 01-Dec-2005 20:32

Hi Lizzie, I hear what you are saying - we did vote on the start for racing - hence why I mentioned it in my earlier post:)

Got no records here of any vote for a long race tho - and have been asking about removing points from Assen, since I heard there was a limit for the numbers on the grid.

As Alan & I dont ride (but own both bikes), we go on the information we & our 2 riders feel is best at the time.

Happy with the whole lot as is. Love the idea of a 3 race weekend, don't really want a points scoring race when there's a bloody good chance of ice, and I think the Assen round should be points scoring (both because it'll ensure a decent grid, and it'll keep the race agressive). After all we'd hate to look like a bunch of limp-wristed british woofters...

Spot on Ali!
I can remember this years riders moaning that they wanted everything sorted by the last cadwell and to a large extent it was,we had the final rules sorted for october, which everbody agreed with-now we have all this crap!
Maybe its time to ditch the race committee as they are clearly not looking after individual riders interests!
We could ask ew Era to take over the running of theseries,im sure thet would do a much better job!
(that'l be the end of novice status for a start!)
