Must get one of those go faster stripes down the middle of my lid |
I didn't realise that Dom got lapped ?:o |
For me, they were some of the best laps of the season. Losing ground through the esses, flat out through bomb-hole, hold it flat into Coram, crunch up behind the lightweights, and try yet another lunge up the inside into Russell. :D |
Ali Not wanting to sound rude, but in most of the pictures that I’ve seen of you, you are presenting a large area of upper body in to the oncoming wind. It’s a kind of trademark riding style I’ve just noticed about you. I’ll get me coat now and hide behind this wall over here. |

dont stop him flying though does it.............:P Riding style is what makes u comfortable and yields the best results.............. And Ali is a BIG ole unit aint ya laddie....;) [Edited on 2-12-2005 by fil2] |
Please don’t get me wrong Ali is a flier and style is a personal thing and in his pictures he always looks bloody fast. |

Yer not wrong, it's something I noticed very early on, but as Fil points out it doesn't stop me getting past those of a more slippery nature! One of the key points is that most photographers shoot at braking points to get sharper shots. I like to pop out the top of the fairing to get some air braking (one of the few advantages of being 'chunky'), so I always look monstrous. The other issue is that I ride the front end pretty hard (hence two lowsides), and I like to keep my shoulders over the top of the forks. If I'm doing that then there's nowhere for the top half of me to go.... I can diet, but I'm not going to get any shorter! Lastly, this is not MotoGP, so if I loose a few seconds by hurling myself around the bike, but make some spectators laugh then all's well. :D Cheers, Ali |
Did you used to ride strokers Ali?? Second picture you have one finger on the clutch lever-used to be a sure fire way of recognising a stroker rider. When an air cooled 2 stroke seizes it does it VERY fast-they used to call it the 'wispering death' if the engine suddenly goes quiet(not the exhaust) it is in the process of seizing. Now you know why I always have 2 fingers on the clutch-old habits die hard. John |
Love the second photo particularly. The Spirit of Desmo Due.Who took them and are there any more. [ you got to admit that does look like a life preserver on the red bike rider!!!! I,ll get my c...........] |
cant see any sign of a third bike in those picks i think ali is on the back of fils bike |

Kelly aka Firefly, Fil2's better half took them......there are more and even about 15 video clippings |
Kelly did a great job, they are very good shots. I could just see those three from the other end of the straight, I wish I was closer to them because it would have been a great battle to watch. |
Great pics!Well done Kelly. I was a little disapointed to find they where pics of DD racing,......I thought it was a BHC rideout! |
