Yup, and I love em. I'd sell all my friends for one of them, and then sell all my family to pay for the servicing :D Will a 620 Monster fit in the boot though?? ;) |
bit juicy on fuel but NEVER break down!! and hold their value well...dont think the DD bike will go in the back tho ;) |
The DD bike might go in the boot on the way back from races! But don't tell pete I said that! Thanks do Dibbs for al the info, now where can I find a big wad of cash? |
I'd echo all of the above points mate. Though, I'd also add I was never so happy to sell a car as I was that one. I owned an IS200 sport for about 7 months a couple of years back. Go get a test drive and see what you think! Cheers Scott |
Nick, we had one as a pool car for 2 years here, after it had been used for 10 months by a senior manager. Did just over 110,000 miles in that time, had a dent on every panel:lol: dinked wheel rims - but still started on the button, and no mech probs at all in its history when it went, just the routine servicing that it had. C:) ps: wot you going to take the bike in?:puzzled: |
Alan Partridge drives one :rolleye: |
I've got one. Bought new 12 months ago. If you want to try one out, pop around and try mine. It's an IS200 SE though, not the sport. No less economical than the Cooper S I had before, can comfortably knock out the miles. Dealer servicing's not too expensive, and the service is exemplary. As an example of their customer service standards, I took mine in for it's 10K service back in may. It took exactly the length of time they stated (unlike BMW / Merc and others I've dealt with :flame: ). They also apologised that they were going to have to replace ALL the wheels as they'd spotted some paint flaking from the alloys. A few weeks later I got a call to say the wheels were in, and they swapped them over. None of this was prompted by me, and I've never experienced service like it elsewhere in the car industry. In 2 years time, I'll be buying another. Oh, and turning the traction control off is fun this time of year :D |
Ta for all the replies guys and girls, and thanks MrS for the offer but probably pop out at lunch and take the one I've got an eye on for a drive... may be in touch tho! If I may indulge the kindness of the honourable members a little further - does anyone have a CAP guide to hand and can tell me what I should be paying? It's a year 2000 IS Sport, 34k miles, showroom condition... I hope my family aren't expecting pressies this christmas!! |
The new 230 I think was reviewed either on 5th gear or Top gear the other week, turbo diesel version had over 400ft/lb torque :o |
Yep, that's the 220D |

tut, tut, tut! I blame myself entirely :pig: |
Hi Nick, A customer of mine had an IS200 on lease about 2000 and it was serviced regularly and carefully looked after and not drived hard. The big end went on it at 20k miles? Toyota (Lexus) repaired it all free, but why? He now drives an S-type jag which has been faultless (told he not the hard driving type). Andy |
Ran an IS200 sport and then moved onto an A4 Avant, in my mind I can't knock either car. I clocked up 72,000 miles in 3 years and the car never once missed a beat - thirsty though - it averaged 28.7mpg over that total distance. The current A4 is a 1.9 Diesel and clocks up 42mpg (average after 52,000 miles) and is a better drive than the IS200, much more relaxing when you need it to go, and it's a lot better finished and definitely more practical. just my 2 penneth worth cheers Neil |
Hmmm... not sure about the S Type, I'm not really old enough! Audi's are nice tho, but I'm just too impressed with the customer service I hear of Lexus and like the look of them (who says I'm image concious???) Went to have a closer look at the IS200 at lunch... not going to buy that one. Don't like the colour much and its been reversed into something which has made many ugly cracks on the bumber, also the nearside wheels are scraped to buggery! Not in as good condition as I first thought (it was getting dark when I first saw it!). So my conclusion... Think I'll wait 'til the new year and go to a Lexus dealer. |
Nick, You should get a good deal from a main dealer on the old shape car, and they'll sort out wheels etc for you too. It's worht knowing that some items have a longer warranty than others too (e.g. the stereo) For a particularly biased view, you could try www.lexusownersclub.co.uk Forgot to mention that earlier. |

I like Audi's, and I also like the Lexus, it may be a Toyota, but what's wrong with that? The loveliest most glorified toyota I've ever seen for sure... the lovely dark blue one they do is best :) |
Heated seats are great for keeping chips warm too.. |
...and not bad for roasting your nuts for christmas! |
