IT help please - SORTED
 

At work, have suddenly got no email service, tho internet is ok.

Am ever so baffled, as is our outsourced IT support.

Have tried to get into my work mail box via internet, but am getting: HTTP/1.(numbers) Service Unavailable

any ideas chaps?:puzzled:

Firstly what do you use for email? Exchange, Lotus notes etc? Do you have a server based at your offices, or is it a remotely run email service?

MS Exchange.

easynet provide the internet - not had probs, and think its down to server...

sounds like a firewall problem!!!!

Exchange on-site eh? are you getting internal mails, or non at all?

added info, I had one member of staff unable to access her mails today - cos she had sent mails too big, that came back - all took too long.

none at all - all frozen, unable to expand....:(

I just moved a bundle of files to another server, and all fine now:D

God, how hard is it for your support people to realise there's a disk space issue!!!! Bloody hell!!!

Have a word to them and mention - MONITORING! Ask them if they know what an event log is!

Probably outsourced to India mate...

Saying that Exchange IS won't compact in that sense, unless the server is running other apps etc, or used for general storage also, no doubt it will happen again as space must be an issue.

Monitoring/Mailbox limits/mailbox management/IS Defrag?? all spring to mind..

but you are totally right JPM, it is down to a lack of space.

Unfortunately, we are 'caught' at the moment - needing to put a lot of work in with year end and finalising due diligence (again), but on the other hand as the transaction of our company now looks like it is going ahead, our hands are tied in making any decisions whatsoever in the next 6 weeks, untill completion:(
Think I'll be doing a lot of juggling on Monday (hell, I might even go in tomorrow) to free up space on the 1 & 2 servers.
