Riding posistion and seat heights

Managed a wobble out on my new 600ss [1995] at the weekend for 5 minutes.First thing that got me is the huge difference in riding posistion compared to my 2001 900ssie.The seat height is 770mm on the 600[correct to factory info] and 820mm on my 900! 2 inch different but feels like a foot.The footpegs could well be about the same but because your lower they are more cramped and im sure rearsets will sort that out. The handlebars are so flat and high i think they are of a Harley[okay slightly over the top].Finally the scallop in the seay hump pins me in to much to move around on the bike as much as i would like.

Question is do i raise the seat height up which will make most of the problems go away and increase the weight on the front or stop moaning ,get used to it and be happy that the centre of gravity is lower and its not my 900.

Bike is as bought at the moment with no race bodywork etc so flexability won,t be problem.I do like my 900,s riding posistion though and a familiar riding posistion would help me .

Other than that goes pretty well if you rev the tits of it...

Your thoughts please

Is it just me or does the riders seat look as though its been cut away/lowered

skidlids 12-Dec-2005 20:00

Looks thinner at the front than my original seat

Rattler 12-Dec-2005 20:28

No worries - all you need to do is go via the "properties" of the image (by right-clicking) then put the address (URL) between img coding;

As follows;

let me no if it works please someone.

Just been out to the garage and remeasured the seat height.Typical bloke ,the seat height is not as big as i thought[sounds familiar].It looks more like 750mm,so 3 inch lower.ooops

Thanks for your kind offer Scooter.I hope to use a race seat unit but won,t no for certain until i start work on it in the new year.Probably in the last week in March:lol:

Your seat does look lower at the front Griff.
The padding normally comes much higher up the tank, more like the ie.
Also, have you checked the sag on your rear shock ?
It could be wound down to the minimum, or the spring could be softer (or knackered)
What about the forks too ?
They could be another sign that the previous owner was 'vertically challenged' if the tops were/are adjusted to stick a long way through the top yoke.

That won't work as your pic isn't hosted anywhere - you're basically pointing the link to your C: drive.

You either need to get someone to host it - there are a few free sites you can use - or just attach the file to your reply - but there won't be a picture displayed this way, just a link to it.

If you do go the "reply" way, don't go via the "quick reply" route, but use the "resply" button at the bottom right of the last message in the thread. Then attach your picture.
