front stand Guys, what's the best FRONT stand for the 999?? I have the (cheap) motrax one, but is a pain to set it right and most of the times, the supports slide behind the fork, touching the brake calipers support (which are integrated part of the lower fork piece).. Thanks Brogins |
Ive got the DP one. Its not fell off yet! Bit expensive mind. |
I've got the Harris stainless one. Not a bad price and it works for me. |
I use this one, solid as a rock, fits under the headstock, you do not need to remove any fairing panels, one man operation and allows you to turn the headstock if you need to. Purchased from Techmoto (before change of ownership) and cost about £150 ish I seem to remember. |
Thanks guys, this is what I have... which it works..but is a pain... |
and this is what I was thinking of.. just I am not sure if is going to work fine.. it looks like uncle dunnie type, is about 100 quid at demon on line.. not sure if works with the 999... |
Ive got one like this; ![]() Cost £25 from the NEC bike show last year. |

In use at Pembrey on my DD bike |
Ciao Kev, I don't understand how it works... I can see the one that Keefy is using, it will go in the holes at the bottom of the lower forks - but the one you have how can support the lower fork allowing wheel disassemble? ? |
mine also locates in the holes in the lower forks, just that the stand is wider and has adustable arms with locating pegs on. http://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/upl...nt_paddock.jpg |

..I like it, I guess mine is gone on fleabay and I get a new one like yours. Thxs PS. Kev, if tomorrow you fancy some MX dirt riding, I am starting my winter training at Zracing on the M40 Highwycombe... from 10ish up to later afternoon.. |
I would have liked to have come along and joined you Fabio but after working from 6am to 8am tomorrow its back to Oxford and join Senna3 for a trip up to coventry to visit JHP. Who was generous enough to put up a prize of a full engine rebuild for the winner of the best prep'd bike in Desmo Due which turned out to be Senna3s bike. Then when we get back I have my mate Simon who will be racing his 748RS next season coming over to take some bits away and pick my brains. As for the Scorpion front stand as well as using it on my DD bike I have also used it on my 748, 916, 996, 998, R6 GSXR600, ZXR400, Fireblade and a couple of others and never had any problems. Quite often the bike has been sat on it for a while with out a wheel in at race meetings when the weather keeps changing, just ask any of the guys that turned up at the Thruxton meeting in 2004 when I had both a wet and intermediate ready to go in. |
Next time mate!!! |
i've welded some 12mm bar onto my standard cheapy to make it "safe" will post a pic if anybody is interested ps i have just put a new front tyre on and it was ok! |
