camera phone recommendations - help???

Does anyone know about camera phones? I hardly ever use a mobile myself, so I'm struggling to know what to get?

This is for my daughter, she wants a camera (thought in a phone would be a good idea), needs to be PAYG, and cannot cost the earth.

Thing is ... my wife came home with a Nokia 3220 that she got from Tesco. It's the cheapest camera phone there as about £50. Trouble is, I read the blurb on it and you can't seem to get the pictures off the phone other than by sending to another phone? THat is not going to be much use to her, as she wants to use it as a camera I beleive.

I don't expect bluetooth or infrared connectivity, but as the very least I'd want her to be able to pop a memory card out and get them printed up at Asda or put it in a card reader and get them onto the PC.

Any useful ideas, anyone????

Henry,

Nokia 6310i has a memory card along with blue tooth and infra red. The camera is a 1 megapixel so good quality images as well.

Depending on how much credit she uses a month it may be worth while looking for a cheap 12 month contract that includes some calls and text's ... should include the phone for free.

Ive got the Sony Ericsson K750i. Its a 2 megapixel thingy. The photos it takes are superb, even when put on the PC. I probably think that to get it as a pay as you go would cost you the GDP of Botswana though.

Are you sure the 6310i has a camera? I just read the Nokia web blurb and it doesn't specifically mention it at all. :puzzled:

Hmmm, and therein lies my problem I think. I can't blow the budget on this unfortunately, and getting a contract is not an option because she's supposed to pay for the calls herself. She is one of 3 offspring you see, so what I do for one I have to do for all.

One of the best Camera Phones made was the Sharp K100 has a very good zoom lens. You can e-mail your photos to your computer. Bearing in mind you are still not going to get a picture that will blow up to 6 + 4 that will look as good as from a mid range camera . Like most things in life you pay for what you get. 4D

Don't know Fordie 7 Megapixel ain't bad for a phone

Any mobile phone with that kind of capability aint gonna come cheap.
Why not just buy a cheap digi camera off Fleabay?
I bought one with all the leads and software for £9.99.

Thanks for the opions guys. I am confused as to waht she really wants and may just give her the money.

A good option I've been recommended is the Sharp GX25 which is a flip type camera phone that has USB, bluetooth and IR. At £94 for PAYG it's not bad.

I saw something on TV a while back about camera phones - Gadget Show I think. The only thing I remember in detail from it is that downloading the pictures retains a lot better quality than sending them to another phone (or emailing them?)

Hi Henry,

My daughter (14yrs) has got the Samsung D500 and all of her swimming mates have the same... As this phone has been updated in the D600 you can pick them up for around £150 on pay as you go, which is the only way my daughter has it too. It has loads of kids stuff on it and bluetooth for sharing the pictures/ringtones. Get a bluetooth dongle for your pc (mine was £10) and you can store/print the pics.

Couple of my mates have this phone and the pictures from it are brilliant. It also has the sony memory stick card.
