mallory test

anyone going to test afternoon at mallory next weds- any hints for start point for gearing -as compared to other circuits (rather than actual sprocket combinations due to the different final drive ratios)

skidlids 23-Sep-2013 23:43

Brands gearing

Three types of circuit

Fast, Medium and Slow
Mallory with it's two chicanes falls into the slow group as far as I'm concerned

Just change gear when you get to the chicanes kev .. going down one or two usually helps

Yeah I find 3rd a bit tall for the hairpin, as I do the wall on the inside evident by me shoulder charging it a few years ago and ending up on the floor with my bike on top of me :o

true, i'm not sure if thats a first or 2nd, I guess if you took 1st you'd have to change up for the bus stop?

I always always brake too late for the hairpin and miss the wall by about 2m.

mat2hew 25-Sep-2013 12:55

I only made half a lap in 2010 after tagging the back wheel of someone at Edwinas and doing a Superman. I only did 1 lap in 2011 before being hit by a flying Ducati at Gerrards and breaking my collar bone,,, I missed 2012 (if you were there) after hitting a tyre wall and breaking my back. so I haven't actually done many laps of Mallory...

milesaway 25-Sep-2013 17:08

anyone going to do weds then?

rather save the money at this point in the season, it's not as though one practice afternoon is going to improve my chances of wining a race

me neither but i may have bit better chance of not riding into a wall if i've seen where the corners are before a 10 min quali- looks like i may be on my own then!

bally71 26-Sep-2013 08:05

Pretty sure they've taken down the walls at the bus stop now

wilco1975 26-Sep-2013 08:49

You just have to watch out for the two senior members of team GHOST on pension day at the bus stop.:-D

bally71 26-Sep-2013 12:35

Think i might put a sneaky late entry in since it's the last race

should be spending my money on the house .. but hey!! Who needs carpets!!

Spjallen 26-Sep-2013 14:27

You would think that with the test day not going ahead on the friday and the reduction to a one day meet the Hottrax team would include a longer warm up session?

just like they didn't at donny??
to be fair be lucky to fit all in 1 day as it is

skidlids 27-Sep-2013 23:05

Yep its going to be tight to get the Endurance run full distance

mat2hew 28-Sep-2013 08:35

stop moaning, get out there and have fun, (as long as they don't call us early without warning in the rain)

bally71 28-Sep-2013 09:33

Theres only 5 corners!!!!

Shouldn't take that long to figure out where you'r going

skidlids 28-Sep-2013 11:45

usually find chicanes are made up of two corners

So long as I don't have Keith Flint and John Reynolds following me around on Red Bull Ducatis like they did in 1998 I'll be OK, at least I had a Duchams V&M CBR600 under me that day

how long did they follow you for Kev? I did a Track Day at Castle Combe with the Rizla Suzuki team a few years back with John Reynolds, Shakey, Steve Plater and James Hayden. They followed me around,,,, for 1 corner, then a couple of laps later another corner, and so on.

I then had a pillion ride with JR and I think he went faster with me on the back than I could go on my SP2.

bally71 29-Sep-2013 12:34

Scary!!!!!

Quite a while ago now but it was 3 or 4 laps, I was expecting to get a lecture afterwards, but maybe having a Novice Vest on spared me that.

milesaway 30-Sep-2013 17:25

Cancelled

got call today to say they not running this test day!!!
saved me some time and money i suppose~

mat2hew 01-Oct-2013 08:35

I don't like football, I really can't stand the noise of 1000's of neanderthals shouting at a bunch of ponces skipping around on the grass

would I buy a house next door to old trafford?

Why are bikers, and motor-sport enthusiasts discriminated against, it seems that in this country we like to applaud the success of top level motorsports men/women but on the way up your treated as scum.

as soon as you mention motorbike people think of asbo
