749s fila on ebay does anyone know the bike that is being sold on ebay? Its from peterborough. The guy says that it had been damaged and he repaired it. what does everyone think? is it safe to buy a bike that has been damaged? |
My first bike was an accident damaged ZX6 that I bought damaged and I repaired. It was purely cosmetic damage and ideal for a DIY repair. I would buy an accident damaged bike if it was cosmetic only and I knew the exact damage. One way would be to speak to the owner of the bike at the time of the accident to confirm what type off accident it had been in and how badly damaged it was. I've seen cosmetic damaged bikes for sale that when you look deaper have had major mechanical repairs done before they are sold as cosmetic only damaged bikes. One thing to remember is that you will buy the bike cheap and it will always be a cheap bike .... and possibly difficult to sell in time to come. |
still looking then !!! i wouldn't go for it ..- but thats just me.. you could get alot of bike for the money... if it makes your budget its got to be worth a look. ;);) |
Just had a quick look at the Ad. Mentions front end damage. I'd leave it alone, you can bet it has been repaired using 2nd hand parts that have been removed from other crashed bikes. Like I said, I'd be happy to buy a cheap bike that has been repaired with 2nd hand panels, tank etc .... but, not 2nd hand forks, wheels, brakes etc etc. Also would expect the bike to be cheaper than that if it is a recorded write off. I think there was an ad on here this morning for a 2004 749BP at £5,000 .... may make a better buy. £150 decal kit (fitted) and a few 2nd hand carbon goodies and you have a good straight Fila rep. Even better wait a few weeks and copy the latest 2006 WSB decals .... Fila is soooo last year :D [Edited on 2-1-2006 by Carbon749] |

Strange that as Gbyte666 (Craig)was looking to buy it off Ebay just before Xmas but somebody placed a bid at the last minute so he didn't get it now tyhe same guy is selling it again. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I saw it the day I p[icked up my 750SS in its damaged state with the flattened Ohlins fork leg when Jim at Bike Enders was selling it, here is the original auction link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=45906627 95 |
Reading through all that ebay shite etc etc ! what has the guy gained? looks to me like he blew his brains on that deal and i'ts still on the register! NOT worth all the agro:( |
yeah after seeing it in the damaged state i think i am gonna leave it alone, dont want to deal with any unexpected crap. although what really attracts me is the termis! to fit them new will cost looads! and without them its just not as great. and i wouldnt be able to sell it on in a year or 2 |
