Could any SL specialists help me I wondered if any superlight specialists could U2U me to look over some pictures of a superlight V for me. I don't want to post them up at the moment. I'm fairly sure it's not a DSC member bike. Sorry for the cloak and dagger act. |
I think Edwyun might be the guy to ask as he knows just about all there is to know about the SS/SL range (but he is in the USA !!!) Having said that - just look for the 'frequent posters' in the SS forum  Good luck - Frank |
You have a U2U... I've got a SuperLight and my mum always said I was special and to ignore the other kids laughing at me... Is that the same thing...? |
Might be, might not be. I couldn't really say. |
|
cheers ali - email sent |
If ya need a second opinion then mail them to me |
Happy to take a look too M8. MKV too. Cheers Allan R |

Go on then, while we're doing standard SLs! |

It had the carbon front guard standard? I quite like these ... I think I like too many Ducati's and have too little money! |
Yummy.... As I understand it...from 1993 and the Superlight II the carbon fibre front guard was fitted as standard. F |
And one of my formally stunning example just after it got tired and laid down for a nap... |

All superb. What do you guys reckon to the 900ss at JHP at the moment? Nice 900ss at JHP. It's certainly my style. I don't think it's a true numbered superlight but it's got all the bling that I like. |
It certainly looks shiny and has had a bit of money spent on it. The higher than average price could be justified by the expensive bits on it (wheels, exhaust, seat, twin lights) and is probably a sign that it has been well looked after. It's not my cup of tea but that's my opinion of the paintjob, not the quality of the bike. If it is in good nick, I would rather have that than a tired SL. while we're posting piccies, here's mine (not technically an SL) |
Chicken, your FE looks nice but I can see why you wouldn't like the JHP 900 and why I do. I do like the FE, I like the lack of decals on it. The silver is ok (although all my gear is red and black). I think it's the black wheels which are ok but understated. Some people like to standout and some like the understated. If a good example of an FE turns up I will definately consider it and there's a few official red ones knocking about apparently. I will visit JHP first to view this one and then decide. |
There just seems to be nothing SL/FE wise for sale at the moment. Maybe I should wait rather than buy the first one I find. |
I don't think the one at JHP is very nice looking at all. this is the problem with fancy paint jobs and so on. there not everyone's cup of tea. I don't like the twin headlights or the polished rims. I think bling'd up bikes should look like they rolled out the factory that way. |

Be patient, three came up at one a few months ago, all going for around £2.5k. A good one is worth waiting (and travelling) for, but a bad one is a disaster. I missed out on a heavily modified one and was gutted, but heard later that it expired in great style.... :o |
not my other one was it? |
Ali's right though - be patient and several will be along for you to choose from. |

URGH !!!!!! Not my cup of cha but to each their own I suppose. If I were you mate I`d wait, the right one is out there, they are just like buses and normally come in three`s Deffo go for a pukka SL, you will regret it later if you buy a blinged SS then a nice SL comes up. Keep us posted Ian |

From that advert it doesn't look like the original as it has a bronze frame - so question - did they restart the numbering for each model. From memory mine was about no 259. |
Mines a MKV No242 That has a bronze frame but not a set of Terigonis. A bonus though the wife likes it. Cheers Allan R |

All SL`s after the original mk1 had bronze frames inline with the equivalent SS of the time, and yes the numbers did restart with every new mark 1 to 5 |
Saying all that it's well overpriced.... |
It is over what i'd like to pay but might be worth it for a good example. So no-one really likes the JHP one. Must be me - i still like it. |
I seem to remember its been up for sale for quite a while so maybe a deal could be done ??????? |
It'd need to come with a free 916 to make it worth 3 1/2 grand..... And the JHP one, ummm no thanks... |
£3,500 seems too much to me too - if it's a really nice one with a recent service then I'd go to £3,000 for it. Having been in a similar situation, I can only recommend that you wait for the right one to come along. Remember that the quality (or lack of) will remain long after the price is forgotten. |
According to Edwyun's register, there are a couple of FE's that look like they might be for sale. http://www.geocities.com/edwyun/registry.html #270 is in Ringwood, UK (with the update in Sept 05) - unknown seller #317 in in Edewecht, Germany (with the update in Sept 05) - seller is Henrik O. Edwyun might have contact details, or at least an email address, for both. |
I made a purchase :D see separate thread |
