Abba Stand - Front Wheel Removal I have got the bike on the stand and on the 748 I would put a car jack under the front cylinder head to lift up the front of the bike. On the 999 the oil cooler gets in the way. I tried jacking under the crankcase but this area is to close to the Abba stand and just starts lifting the Abba stand off the floor! Can it be done without removing the oil cooler:puzzled: |
For the cost mate, id get a front stand as well. |
For front wheel removal, I think you'll have to get a front stand of some sort. I wanted to disassemble the forks/yokes using my Abba stand, but there is nowhere tidy to support the front of the bike. I did try using a bit of wood and a car jack under the front pipe, but as soon as I heard the noises it made, I knew it wasn't gonna work. |
get some fat git to sit on pillion seat thus lifting the front wheel of the ground allowing you to remove wheel.. to ensure they do not get off and thus trashing your front forks have a pack of 10 donuts placed on the tank- that should buy you some time :lol::lol::lol: or do what most other people do and get a front stand :puzzled::puzzled::burn: |

Right - just tried this using tin of quality street but 15 stone wouldn't budge it. Is the weight of the tin of sweets compared to the 10 donuts the problem:puzzled: |

I don't even own the Abba. Borrowed it 3 years ago. My mate keeps on buying new front and rear stands every time he changes his bike  |
with the money you saved free loading of the mate why don't you treat yourself to a front stand !!:puzzled::puzzled: |

For the amount of times I would use it, it's not worth buying. Just more clutter to find a space for. Anyway the problem is sorted now:) I removed the V plate and just 2 screws to release the oil cooler. Pulled it to one side and suspended it with a bungee. This left plenty of room for the jack under the head to lift the fornt end:) |
Hi Glenn, Why you removing the front wheel mate? Just being nosy? |

Hi Colin. Had to get the mudguard out to fit a 'Ducati Corse Stripe' decal. Got it fitted this evening with Danielle and Amys' help. Definitely easier to do with 3 pairs of hands:bouncy: Looks pretty good except over stretched the vinyl and the white layer is just starting to break up towards the front of the guard:sniff: I will see if I can post some pics. |
