996SPS on ebay?

Anyone no this one? No ohlins?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEBI%3AIT&rd=1

Easy now.

webbyc 19-Jan-2006 16:58

Ohlins on the front are only on the 2000 996SPS, before that it was Showa.

bradders 19-Jan-2006 17:47

and who needs ohlins when you can get them rebuilt 'just for you'...have a look at the one up for sale on here, original 916sps proper classic!!

Pah...;)

Its going at a good price, so IF you really want or need the OHLINS just keep an eye on ebay as they do come up, so u can buy them:D

RCA 19-Jan-2006 18:21

is this the only difference between the early and the late SPS, just the addition of the Ohlins on the later models, or did the engine get any tweaks?

bradders 19-Jan-2006 18:31

I 'thought' the early ones are more specced internally?? titanium, sand cats thingies?? not sure but certainly no worse!! oh and they make the MOST POWER (more than those SP crates!!) mine is std and makes couple bhp less and more torque than 996r at the last dyno day and only bested in both by a 999r

:lol::lol::burn::burn::burn:

keefer 19-Jan-2006 18:34

I looked at this one and test rode it before buying mine privately - it is at V&J in Bridgwater, Somerset.

It is a '99 model (same as mine) so it has Showa front end rather than Ohlin's (and looks better for it IMHO). It runs well enough (though I'm no expert) but it isn't very tidy I'm afraid.

The asking price for it on MCN is £7999. Go and havre a look and a test ride and haggle hard with them if you are interested - they have had it for well over a year and are desparate to sell it. Back in November I negotiated with them and got them down to £7499 with a free full service from Riders (Ducati dealer just up the road).

On balance though, I would say if you ARE after a 996 SPS then there are better ones to be had at better prices if you are patient.

Just noticed that it has finished - does anyone know if it sold and, if so, how much for?

david.hicks 20-Jan-2006 16:08

I've looked again and lo-and-behold it didn't meet its reserve price - what a surprise :smug:

butch890 20-Jan-2006 17:23

interesting that it has a "john Jacket chip" fitted!
Butch

david.hicks 20-Jan-2006 19:08

Just shows how much V&J know about Ducati's!

RCA 21-Jan-2006 01:09

I know what the reserve was, and let me tell you, it was way way below the £7999 they are asking on MCN. They clearly are desperate, but Iam not!

bradders 21-Jan-2006 19:39

like I said, if you want an sps you could do no better than this

http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=28628

lovingly looked after and I reckon that price is a steal! Most are still over (some way!) over the 6k mark and, from what I have seen, this is a minter;)
