so what can \"You\" put into the DSC

well the "what do you want out of your club post" went down well:D

so here is the flip side post!

what can you put in /offer the DSC;)

well you all know by now that i sold my duke!

But I did not sell with it, the xtras that i aquired from this club!

"mates"

I have had some serious milage out of my membership cost, in terms of advertising:D

We never have yet managed a trip to the Ring!

http://www.thenurburgringexperience.co.uk/

although Tim's working on it;)

I dont always see eye to eye with the MT and The politics of the club!
as FFS it's meant to be a bout people and bikes;) not Generals and the like:flame:

So with the help of the MT

I propose they run a DSC competition!

I will donate the prize
;)
which will consist of A trip to The Nurburgring this summer;)

The cost of the trip will be worth to the winner £325.00

The competition will be run by the CLUB

and the winner will be sent details of when the trip will take place!

The prize will be non transferable and the only extra cost's you will have will be BEER , Petrol, and lap cost's
I might even buy your first lap! just to see the luck on ya face when you come back in from it:lol::lol:

This is a genuine offer!

why should i do it ?

because i can!

so what are you gonna do for your club?

MT, Ian, etc please get intouch you have my details if you want to do it!;)

ps MR Bushell their is no point you contacting me as you don't know who I am!;)

so lets have it guy's what are you gonna put back in the club?;)

bradders 21-Jan-2006 00:37

work in 'sales' but my skill is communication (altho some wont believe that!!!!!) I may be able to help with exorcising (spelling??) any demons which stop you going quicker/being safer/getting fitter etc

'kin' ell...your havin' a larrfff. After hearing your abuse of fellow drivers in cars the other day...I think your telling porkies:lol::P:D:o:lol::frog:

BDG 21-Jan-2006 01:05

Well i can offer stupid inane comments and much drunken drivel (at this time of night).

Unfortunately i can't give away free Moto Aventures holidays because they ain't mine to give away, wish i could.

Well after those 2 negative comments on a plus side, where possible i've done my best to help a few people out with a few small things, (certainly nowt special though) and scribbled a few write ups about different aspects of Ducati ownership which offer an alternative view to purely the track based side of things. Probably resulting in a decrease in sales of sleeping tablets.

Being realistic i think that a lot of people will not be able to offer any real "headline" type skills/products/services to the DSC, but they can in most cases offer friendship/camaraderie and support to others.

That's exactly the point shaun!
well put;)

Davieravie 21-Jan-2006 11:47

I can fix your electrical/instuments systems on your private jets or failing that if you have a clock similar to Big Ben on your country estates then I can take a spanner to these as well. Apart from that I'm not much use. :ninja:

doogalman 21-Jan-2006 15:01

I've got a grit blast cabinet . So i can offer a blasting service on wheels etc.
I'm not sure that it will take a frame. I'd need to get the tape measure out.

People like Roy and PeteB, Henners, Fordie and the like have organised regional meets for years. People like Skidlids and Senna have gone out of their way to travel to such diverse meets as BHC, Berks, Hants, Surrey, Kent and Sussex. People like AK/CK/Nelly and many more have gone out of their way to make sure that both club members and their bikes have a safe smooth journey through the miles clocked up over the years. People like the MT put themselves out to run the club to the best of their ability and put up with our moans and groans when it's not perfect. People like Eamonn, TP and Flanks spend a lot of time keeping this website going for the benefit of the 100 or so club members (and dozens of non-paying non-members) that frequent this site. People like MW, Monty and CB go to a lot of trouble ensuring that we have a race series orientated in such a way that any club member can feel safe entering racing for the first time ever. People like Mav, giving of their own free time and pocket, to people they may only hear about or get an occasional, cheeky post from on the message board.

To all of you, on behalf of all the people like me that make use of every single one of those benefits and have very little to offer or time to give anything back, I salute you!
Thank you :)

so what can "You" put into the DSC

Snails and frog legs. If needed I can even burn a car or two.

:D

I wanted to organise a DSC trip to France (country of the best snails, forg legs and burned cars), but first I must put my road bike back on the road and ride with a few DSCers, just to see if I could follow them on my roads... :)

Fordie 21-Jan-2006 23:49

At the end of the day ,"What you put in is what you take out" much like a bank account. First , You can only put in what you can afford, take too much out and not only do you upset the balance but the Missus give you a slapping, not that Im agin to a good slapping you understand. I have been down the road of raising a family and understand how difficult it can be to get "time out" some times and have a bit of fun with the lads. Often I think I would love to be out ever week end but I know that is just not fair or feasable. So "what you can do" has a limit to some degree. So long as people feel they are part of the team to me thats all that is reguired, team or regional spirit has shown to reap benefits as to the turn out at events . I think that is the one key I would confess to be trying to achieve. So far it been a uphill struggle trying to get those in the BHC to order  Ill just have to work a little harder. 4D

Monty 22-Jan-2006 00:29

What can I put in-hmmm, well with 4 trackdays to organise this year, and I seem to be helping to run DesmoDue again, and a bit of MT stuff-like the 9 hour meeting we had today-I'm not sure I have time to do a lot else................
But I do know my way round the 'Ring-well a small part of it anyway.

Don't worry Mav me old mate-the MT will be in touch.
Generous offer by the way-so no-one needs to ask what you put in.

John

webbyc 22-Jan-2006 08:28

Main thing I try to put in is giving people the opportunity to meet up,talk bikes and ride their pride and joys:cool::cool:

itexuk 22-Jan-2006 10:24

I'm not sure what the Aims and Objectives of the Club are but I think the club is about giving and receiving: (where and when you can)
Help, support, camaraderie, advice, friendship, knowledge, skill and experience.

Glyn 22-Jan-2006 10:49

but the flip side is
we pay our membership to a national club in order to get some thing
not just to say we are in the dsc
i agree that the more you put in the more you get out, but there should be no obligation to do so

Rushjob 22-Jan-2006 13:22

Sorry Glyn, I can't see why you'd be in the club if you didn't want to put something in to it... you already have done so on many occasions.
Bear in mind that by turning up for just one rideout or meeting or track day you've accomplished that task.
Putting something in can be as simple as taking part, either on the web or in person.
If no-one did either of these things I don't think that the club would remain "in business" for long.
Just my thoughts..... :)

Monty!:o

There should be no obligation to put in, perhaps just a realisation that if nobody puts in, nothing comes out; the Club goes nowhere. Given the members that we have I would say that will never happen.

I am only here for the free coffee, - thanks webby, - see you do put something in.

Henners 24-Jan-2006 01:04

I don't think what JFK said about America applies to this or any other club to be honest. I'd prefer that the MT, whoever is on it, stayed in touch with the membership in a way that meant they knew what folk wanted and found ways to ensure the club provided it.

It's no good saying that because only about 100 paying members post regularily on this messageboard that somehow it holds little value - look at the hits this site receives and you'll see what a teriffic shop-window it is for the club and for Ducati. What we need to do quickly is move back to being recognised as a club for Ducati owners offering as much as possible in terms of what that population needs. Check out the Home page which simply says:

"You're here...
homepage of the Ducati Sporting Club UK

WHY?

Because you want to ride, attend events,do some travelling and track days, get some good deals and meet up with people like yourself who want a new style of Ducati Club for the modern Ducati owner"

So on my wish list for 2006 is anything that gets the club closer to the members, that encourages positive change and ensures that everything we offer is as good as it can be.
