Do I use the Hammer on it ? I'm just changing the stock pressure plate on my 999 for an adonised one. I have removed the pushrod from the original plate and noticed that it sits in a sort of collar that appears to be pressed into the middle of the bearing Can anyone tell me how to remove this and transfer it to the new plate please, the hammer option seems a bit extreme |

put a over sized socket underneath and tap away easy |
It is an easy press fit - a few small taps with a hammer (and socket) will free the sucker. |
Thats the pressure plate release bearing. you can gently tap it out from out to in using a couple of sockets as has been said, then fit into the new plate. Oh dont forget the little cap that sits in the bearing.........that the rod sits in. Make sure you put the push rod back in the correct way round! [Edited on 23-1-2006 by andyb] |
if it wont come out, stand on some step ladders and drop it on to a hard concrete floor (pushrod side down) that usually frees it up ;) |
Thanks everyone, opted fo the oversize socket and gentle tapping option over the more exciting and more expensive ladder/concrete combination and it freed it up |
I was going to tell you about the shooting it out with a crossbow method but if your not prepared to drop it off the steps, any more interesting ways of removing it will be of no interest :saint: |
Oh boy a broken hub pillar! Is it so common a thing for us to break? I foolishly tried to give a gentle tap to one of the spring screws to loosen it as the head would not hold the allen key too well! Doh big mistake! Ah well you live and learn!:burn: |
