Rider reps on the race committee

This is a great idea, so WELL DONE race committee!!!

Who's gunna be brave enough to step forward then?

NBs996 24-Jan-2006 21:04

I think you should step up to the plate Dom

AK 24-Jan-2006 21:04

Lin for 583:ninja:

antonye 24-Jan-2006 21:08

So we have 2 people with interest in the race series (the DD riders) voting against 2 people with no interest in the race series (the MT side), but if it's a draw then the MT decide anyway?

Doesn't sound very democratic to me...

Would have made more sense for 2 reps from each class, to ensure non-bias voting for the class from that rep and also so that those who partake in the series would be able to out-vote those who have no interest in it whatsoever.

But what do I know...

couchcommando 24-Jan-2006 21:29

OH my GOD , a rep from the 583 classes, what next a vote for the working class people since when have the proles been allowed a say ?

??

This assumption that MT has “no interest” in a DSC event/series is somewhat insulting to the hours upon hours that has been put into the series already buy the MT. This series would not exist if it were not for the MT (or the riders taking part). Yes the MT has no VESTED interest in making decisions that could be seen as improving their own positions in a race of series, - and that is exactly why the series HAS to have MT input. If the MT had no interest the series would have been passed to New Era (or the like) a month ago.

And if it is a plan to vote in riders reps who are to oppose every decision or question the RC will find itself once again ham strung; there will then be no 2007 DSC DD (IMO).

A big thank you to all of the riders who replied to recent questions/ e-mails.

ian
surely the riders reps will be there because they are to represent the riders (they will be elected by the riders after all and therefore be accountable to them) so if they have an issue on the race committee it shouldn't be seen as just a personal rider rep issue but an issue that the riders want !! .... lets not forget that this is a riders series for dsc members ... and the riders therefore have an input as to how it is run.
this whole idea that the riders rep will make decisions on the race committee for personal gain is total rubbish in my opinion ... if ever a rider rep was found to be doing something along these lines (and i don't think it would happen) then surely the riders could vote that rep off at any point in the season and not just at the end/start of next !

U musta cracked the 4 zone stage 9 level encrypted biorythmic linked, retena scanned pass system to post in here......

Its about the DD Race commitee thats all....and how its formed .....and how it arrives at decisions.

Paul James 25-Jan-2006 11:43

It was all discussed openly and agreed as a workable compromise, I'm still at a loss to understand why some riders feel that the MT will want to oppose their interests ? I've NEVER said this and defy anyone to say where I have if they think it to be the case.

There are also club liability issues to consider as far as how we run things .

Lets try and take Michaels lead and lighten things up a bit, great avatar mate !!!, didn't realise you were around when "Citizen Smith" was on the box, (or is it back on UK Gold?)

Wolfie of the "Tooting Popular Front". I take my hat off to you for trying to defuse the situation :lol::lol:

AK 25-Jan-2006 11:45

I used to luv Wolfie:rolleye:... er... when I was at nursrey school, that is.....;)

Paul James 25-Jan-2006 11:53

Its the spirit of the thing that counts CK, lets get away from all the arguing and start having fun !!!.

But back to the question Paul - the riders do need to look after their own fellow riders - after all - they are the ones who are experiencing things at the sharp (or gravelly) end.
I notice that the reps dont have to be riders - bit of an anomaly that isnt it tho? - better to have the guys (n'gels) elect peeps from their group I would have thought.
Voted in, they can be just as easily removed by theri fellow riders, if they dont represent them all fairly.

ps: melted;)

Precisely but we've not precluded any other eligible member from putting themselves forward have we ?

For all I know there may be some very appropriate person with a balanced viewpoint who you (riders) may prefer, I can't see how this compromises you or anybody else ?. The riders still get to choose in what will be a fairly run ballot.

You are right in saying that if they don't come up to the mark you can ask for them to be replaced but wouldn't it be better for ALL concerned to start 2006 as fairly and democratically as possible ?.

Maybe I'm missing something here, I thought we'd made some positive steps during the 9 hour long Management Team meeting held at my house last Saturday ?

I'm not sure how spending so much of our own free time trying to get a workable compromise on a number of issues can lead to us being accused of not being interested ?

dickieducati 25-Jan-2006 12:59

fwiw i think its a very good step forward.

Paul James 25-Jan-2006 13:00

Is the question "who am I to have the right to an opinion ?" or "who am I ?"

Yes I do still love sidecars, amongst other things, having spent many years racing them at all the circuits you guys are now competing on ;);)

Didn't mention, the piccy is of the F2 outfit I built and ran with various independently obtained sponsorship. I'm still looking for the F2 outfit that had an 888 engine as if I could find it I'd rebuild it and convert it for the road in my well appointed engineering workshop.

:eureka:

Perhaps there should be a vote open to the wider membership about the number votes we should have votes about in the future.

I'd vote for that if it came to a vote!

If the vote doesn't go the way any one individual wants then have another vote about accepting the previous vote.

All voting decisions should be final and binding until the next vote.......................or maybe the vote after.

Anyone vote for that?

Maybe there should be separate votes for reg'd DD paticipants, DSC members who are DD spectators, and not forgetting DSC members who still think DD is something to do with the driver car 00!

Suppose the racers decide something that the spectators don't like, e.g. maybe a no overtaking rule unless there is a vote??

What if the spectators set up a vote for new rule e.g. everyone to wear yellow and pink gloves??

Votes for everything and everyone it's only fair.

Got to go and find some railings to chain meself to!!

Ray.

far too simple Ray, first you need to decide whether is a simple winner, approval winner or multiple winner, how else would we know who's won?? then approval run off or ballot system then how's the vote weighted?? I don't think we need to get into condorcet, minimax or Coombs voting unless we have a vote that says we do:) :) Can I join you on that railing please?? a simple yes or no will suffice :D :D

Ray 25-Jan-2006 13:40

er............maybe?!:D

is that an abstention?

psychlist 25-Jan-2006 16:30

Skids would get my vote for 583 rep.

If MW doesn't want to stand up and represent the riders again I'd vote for Domski as the 620/handbag rep :P

Rules out anyone that posts on this forum......

Thanks Antonye!
I wasn't aware that Paul James and myself (for it is us who represent the MT on DD) had "no interest in the race series"-that would explain the hundreds of hours I have spent working on it in the last 16months I suppose, and the fact that I was at every round last year apart from when I was out of the country, and all the bloody oil and stuff I lugged around in my motorhome at 22mpg...........
Sometimes all this b0ll0x on the messageboard just hacks me off-if you don't all like what we are doing come and do it yourselves............
And before someone ask's me-yes I am having a crap day!
