DP Exhausts and the ECU

Hi all

Just after a little advice. I want to upgrade my 900SSie with DP exhausts and have seen a pair on Ebay, but they dont come with the ECU. I have the same ECU that was discussed in an earlier thread a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not sure if it was decided if it was the standard or upgraded ECU.

I spoke to someone at Ducati Coventry and got a price for a new set of carbon cans from them, they told me that I didnt need a new ECU, all that was needed was for the standard ECU to be plugged in and have its bit map changed. But Ducati Aylesbury said that they would sell me a set of cans and a new ECU.

The cans on Ebay are a good price if I already have the uprated ECU or if it only needs to be plugged and reprogrammed. However If I do need a new ECU, the price of the cans + a power comander would be the same (or more) than getting the DP cans & ECU from Ducati Aylesbury.

Any advice would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Darren

When I had a 900ssie I fitted a couple of sets of aftermarket cans without changing the ECU and it ran fine. Fitted a Powercommander and it felt slightly better but I also opened the airbox and fitted a lightened flywheel at the same time so it all contributed. I'd say if you can get a set of cans at a good price don't worry too much about the ECU.

my 900SSie had DP cans, modded airbox, different airfilter and changed gearing. the cans came with the ECU and it all ran beautifully - if you want an ECU let me know i have a spare - bottle of vino would do the deal.
i have to start clearing out my basement...got all sorts of stuff that i have never thrown away.

Fancy those pipes NB, do you know if you can bodge some rear pegs on?
Doesn't matter if they are high, it's only for occasional rides with my 10year old boy.

Sitting?, you should have said lie down!
Dont think yours will fit my S2R,so I'll just work with what I have for the moment:)

900MAN 29-Mar-2006 14:20

Ok Got the Arrow race cans on just need to take her out to see how it runs.
Have a couple of options on the ecu now, the mega bucks one natty has up for grabs, or one from misterpink that seems to be the uprated item that comes with DP cans for the price of a bottle of wine.

Buy them both - try both - sell the one that doesn't suit you :)
