Carbon Exhaust Hangers

I have recently acquired these hangers, but as you can see, they have been modified (extra mounting holes drilled) by the previous owner. In this state, they are nigh on unusable for a standard application. I am going to look into getting some replacements manufactured, both in ally and carbon. As there seems to be a flurry of interest in exhaust hangers at the moment, and this type don't seem to be available anywhere else, I thought I'd ask if anyone else might be interested in a set. If so, what would you be prepared to pay so I know if it's possible (or how many sets I'd need to make) to recover the tooling cost for the carbon versions? Ping me off list if you don't want to discuss price on-line.

Rgds, Rob

Interested

Rob

I'd be interested in a carbon pair to suit a '91 SP (I think that the earlier bikes had a slightly different exhaust hanger).

When these were officially available, I think they were £60-80 each.

I've seen some poor reproductions on the market that have been cheap, thin and poorly finished.

Regards
charles

Charles,

I am not sure what you are asking for re: a 91 SP. If I make any, they'll be as pictured less the extra holes.

Was that £60 to £80 per side? Ouch!

o.k rob, i'll DEFINITELY have a pair of those. your sp4 pictured?
if they are on a sp4 they will fit sp4, sps, sp5. (just for clarification) and of course, corsa models from 93/94.
i'm in oz so if you're willing to post them to me when done i'm as keen as mustard!!:burn:

I think the SP5 has wider hole spacing... my carbon buddy is still skiing in Finland so I haven't made much (any) progress assesing the pricing/viability of manufacture as yet.

Watch this space.

P.S. No SP4 - Just a humble Strada

loony888 04-Feb-2006 11:47

no, the sp3 is definitely different, but the sp4 and 5 are the same.

Jools 04-Feb-2006 14:54

I'll have some, but I hope they're not £60-80 a side :o:o:o

Then all I'll need are the high level cans to hang on them...and then the rearsets...and then...DOH...this is getting expensive again !!!

Am pretty sure the hanger holes on the SP5 alloy sub frame are spaced further apart?

further apart from the SP3? yes, probably. the SP4 and SP5 however are the same subframe.

These carbon hangers, the subject of the original post, are not going to be cost effective to make for the low quantity that people have requested.

I'll get on and do my own thing.
