good stuff and a well thought out way of doing it.

doogalman 31-Jan-2006 21:37

Do you normally have 5 groups on your track days?????
What is the ontrack time expected to be???

That is a question that needs answering....

£130 for Oulton is a good price, but if it's 5 groups I won't be going (usually 7 hours track time 1 hour lunch included, 20 minute sessions... you do the math)

Brands Indy £155??? :o I'd hate to see what the normal rate is for these dates

dickieducati 31-Jan-2006 22:36

there are only ever 3 groups. its done like that to make allocating people into groups better, rather than say inters filling up and people not booking because there is no room. the whole group is split evenly amonst the ability of the riders attending. brands 155 is about right its not cheap.

Not neccesarily so, remember Whele's Apex day at Brands last year, that was 4 groups to keep the price down...

Well yes but that was an Apex day, not a DSC day. Dickie is right Jon, this is how some or all of the DSC days were done last year - to make sure each group was filled appropriately and there were no sharks cruising the wrong groups as well ...

ChrisBushell 31-Jan-2006 23:42

John

I think it should be pointed out that Apex had to cease trading because they couldn't sustain the losses that they were making.

The Club has priced these days so that we have a better than even chance of ensuring that we dont make a loss. It is not here to subsidise a minority at the expense of the majority and the prices are lower than commercially available days.

If we dont get the numbers, then teh days will be cancelled, it is up to the members to commit if they want the events.

Murray Mint 31-Jan-2006 23:51

What happened to the Ducati only TD's that the club normally runs?

Day 1 at Cadwell is Ducati's only - see note 1 of the document.

:)

Monty,

I cannot print or save the forms to my PC...can you attach them in a more computer friendly manner?

Thanks,

I downloaded them fine, if you right click and select the 'Save Target As' option you can save them anywhere you like. Assuming you're a windows user.

If that doesn't work I can e-mail them to you if you like?

Ahhh ... wash that blue rinse out and you'll be fine ;)

If I read this right, Jon was merely trying to understand how many groups were being run as it was a bit confusing and some TD companies have looked at alternatives including APEX so it was worth questioning just in case. If it was to be run with more groups then price was it was not so appealing.

As for the price of Brands Indy, again I don't think he was questioning the DSC price being bad, just that if that was a good price then it must be expensive normally, not something we would know as we do not go there. Indeed for the Oulton day its a very good price.

Dickie and TP's responses asnwered the questions fine and explained the reason for the five group options. Not certain there was a need for the following comments that to me come across very aggressive.

couchcommando 01-Feb-2006 16:00

Cadwell looks appealing :)
I apologise now for the bike I will use on the 2nd day ;)

oh dear oh dear we let anyone on our track days now..:D

Monty 01-Feb-2006 19:06

Just by way of explanation-Lizzie our multi talented membership secretary came up with the grouping idea.
Novice=Novice
Novice/Inters=prefer novice but could do inters
Inters=Inters
Inters/fast=prefer inters but could do fast
Fast=fast

As to the pricing, both Oulton and Cadwell are very good value. Brands is a cheap as I can reasonably make it without the club making a loss-again. I have checked against commercial days and the club is a bit cheaper on Brands for end May. You may have noticed that we are not offering 'T' shirts this year-basically they are a pain to organise, add to the cost, and lots of people don't actually want them, so I have dropped them. We may do a special for the Cadwell 2 day event if enough people want them, but they will be for sale on the day rather than included in the price.

doogalman 02-Feb-2006 07:34

So please tell me. Is it 3 or 5 groups at brands. If it's 3 then i am sending my form off. But if it's 5 then sorry it's not for me. I don't like the idea of all the waiting around for less track time, then another company will get my money.

Ian Harris 02-Feb-2006 09:05

Three groups. Novice/inters get allocated to either novices or inters depending on space. Inters/fast get allocated to either inters or fast .

I think the intention is that there is not a situation where Inters is full to bursting, not allowing movement between groups as the day progresses. Worked very well at Brands last year.

Re: price at Brands, still WAY cheaper for us South Londoners than travelling to any other track. Brands Indy may not be the largest track in the country, but Its great for knocking out the same corner time and time again to try and get it right, and when one of the corners is Paddock Hill, I'm not complaining....entry form on its way.

lizzie 02-Feb-2006 10:12

One thing - just had a quick look at the Cadwell form so apologies if I've not read it right - can you make sure you specify which Cadwell day you want if you are not planning on doing both of them.....

Just to be absolutely clear - there will only be three groups on the day.

Hmmm, this bit technically isn't true Focused for example have a date in May for £149 and a date in June for £149

Focused 15/5 Brands Indy

Focused 14/6

Not trying to be pedantic and be a sh*t stirrer Monty, just stating fact :)

dickieducati 02-Feb-2006 11:28

i noticed that too.

although at the end of the day we may well have less bike on track; not sure; and they will all be members so hoefully more civilised.

at the end of the day we can either do it or not.

doogalman 02-Feb-2006 13:00

Form on way for Brands

kwikbitch 02-Feb-2006 23:50

Why's Brands open to owt...??? But Caddie is Dukes on First day and owt on 2nd?...
Is that because of the loss made last time?:puzzled:

Absolutely darling, and because I get moaned at continually to let club members ride whatever bikes they want. So, to allow for this Brands and Oulton-which are more expensive and so harder to fill are open to members riding whatever bike. Cadwell is one Ducati only day and one open day-seemed fair to me, and the rest of the MT agreed.

I stand corrected JP-mind you they have the same days on the UK Trackdays listing at £159-which is where I checked since all days are there not just focused.
All I can assume is that they have a special deal with Brands MSV-(which I have been assured they don't) since they will need to fill it to make anything at all-without allowing for their cost's. What they may be doing is booking the track and providing their own medical and marshall cover-in which case they are not bound by MSV's operating procedures and can put more people out on track.

Its probably got something to do with Focused running evening sessions. Evenings get light fairly early in the year, so Focused will probably have a three group full day event, plus a two group evening session at £69 or similar ... got to be some savings there somewhere, crafty so and so's.

Loz 03-Feb-2006 23:52

Forms downloaded and printed. All I need is a money-making scheme now.

Ah to hell with that, it grows on trees or something.

Now, B&Bs near Oulton Park ... some research required.

Ray 07-Feb-2006 00:22

Only a wild guess but I reckon peeps will moan that the days should be Ducati only!! You can't please all of the peeps all of the time and various other cliche.

The Ducati only days are always something spesh, unique now in the UK???

Ray.

The monster club have run a TD for Monsters only for at least a few years, i get the impression they are running one this year too.

dickieducati 07-Feb-2006 09:09

imho DSC trackdays should be ducati only. only my view but thats what its all about afaic.

wavydavy 07-Feb-2006 09:12

Forms filled in and sent off for Brands & Cadwell, looking forward to it, missed out on some track action last year so need to make up for it.

All I need now is some cheap plastic bodywork.........?:rolleye:

nice in the ideal world but people like Jon, Firefly, Skids etc etc all miss out then.

dickieducati 07-Feb-2006 09:27

sure and its a shame but i think the allure of ducati only days is strong for current/potential new members. if there are 3 or more then yes make the others open to any bike.

wavydavy 07-Feb-2006 10:05

Just the opinion of a new member but I'd like to say that a club run one make trackday does appeal to me. I've tried various trackdays in the past some good some bad but I'm hoping the DSC will be a more gentlemanly affair. Not that I'm not up for a some fast riding or a bit of laugh, but would hope to enjoy it with some like minded people with a mutual respect for each others enjoyment and safety.

Jon has a 996R and Skids has about 7 gazillion ducati's! So the only person on that list that is valid is Firefly. I'm sure that someone would help her out getting on track on a Ducati given that she is a lovely person and is the daughter of the BHC massive RO. You also need to bear in mind that of the 4 TD's organised by Monty this year only one of them is Ducati only.

We do need to keep a little perspective here.
