dickieducati 31-Jan-2006 23:34

yeah meant to post about this last night. i think its brilliant. i think all the 'shock' adds work really well. if it saves one life its worth it.

Duke2BSteve 01-Feb-2006 00:08

Yeah, know wot you mean!!!!

When that bike hit the car I thought, DONT WANNA BE THERE!!!!:(

Martinp 01-Feb-2006 00:50

The look on the car drivers face say it all.

SMIDSY happened to me broke my foot.

So yes if it does save one life then it worth it.

Good add, hope it makes more car drivers aware. Only point I did notice was that the first sequence, ie the car pulling out on the biker, was that the biker looked like he was riding only about 3 feet away from the kerb, but was more like 2 feet from the centre of the road in the second sequence, just an obsevation.

I thought it was a very good public info ad.
If it saves motorcyclists or anybody on pushbikes. It's worth every penny.

Still makes me shudder when i watch it.

Clint.

It brought back bad memories for me that noise especially.

For what my opinions worth, i think it was a bit one sided, against the car...............

1 the positioning of the bike is considerably poor!
2 Why in all black?
3 i take it was a 30 limit, what speed was he doing? looking at the closing speed, and the distance the car moved?

Yes i know they are looking to make a point, but the point is its not allways as one sided!!

So what's the point of this? These comments serve no useful purpose in this literal context!

The key is observation and the advert is pushing home the point ... quite succesfully in my view ... shock tactics often work.

The advert, looking at its core message, does not try to warn motorcyclists of the dangers of inappropriate speed, dark clothing or road positioning. However, most intelligent motorcyclist's will subliminally pick up these messages

Anything that makes motorists think/look twice for bikes has to do just that ... including looking out for motorcyclists who are riding at an inappropriate speed, wear dark clothing or exercise poor road positioning.

Perhaps the advert makers were advised by bikers who suggested that many motorcyclists ride at an inappropriate speed, wear dark clothing or exercise poor road positioning.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into an excellent advert :frog:

Bloody good advert.. it shocked me and that what its suppose to do, Did bring back bad memories though.

R Steve 01-Feb-2006 18:24

ditto above . needed a large drink after seing it ,It happend to me last year, one day old 998r wrote off . I hope it makes car drivers think.

philthy 01-Feb-2006 20:48

These adverts do work. When the old adverts were screened ages ago, nearly all of my customers commented that they didn't realise how vunerable motorcyclists were and that they took more care in looking out for us as a result.

Andy I take your point and think you were brave to put it forward, but I know of several bike cops who have been killed or seriously injured when in full dayglo gear and blue lights and headlights on. If drivers aren't looking for us then they won't see us no matter how carefully we ride. And some drivers don't care anyway.

The adverts can only do us good in my view.

"So what's the point of this? These comments serve no useful purpose in this literal context!"

Because its just about scare tactics and i disagree! because of.......

"hope it makes more car drivers aware."

"yea its good theyre raising awareness for bikes again, well needed!"

There is a tendancy to see it all one way and it aint! thats my point!
