Cambelts? Should I change my cambelts for next season although I've only done one race weekend, a trackday and a test day? |
Quote:
how long since the last change? it's probably a good idea to remove the covers and inspect them for any kind of damage or wear, and check the tension, but they should be good for a couple of years. |
Only £20 and worth doing if you're not sure. It's not worth the worry or the risk. |

Providing they have been tensioned correctly and not been run to tight I would leave them on and just check them between meetings and readjust if they become slack. Every so often it is wort removing them to check the condition of the bearings in the tensioner and idle roller. but remember to refit the belts so they are not only matched to the same cylinder but also run in the same original direction |

£20 :o Where do you shop ? |

could probably do this by just slackening and not have to remove them- done 2 seasons on mine just checked tension once or twice- change every 2yrs is ducati line on it- also belts have been improved since these bikes first made and now have kevlar in |
simon only runs 1 belt and does 1 season on front cyl next on rear to save wearing them both out at once:lol: |
Thanks for the advice. I will keep them on and keep my eye on them |
£20 each. Sorry forgot that bit! ebay of course pieman! |

   Your getting a reputation Simon. :) |
I tend to wear out engines quicker than cam belts... I wouldn't re-use old ones, so I've never actually change a set.... apart from after my Mallory crash, I removed the cam covers and found half the gerrards kitty litter in there. |

just to say- beware sometimes on ebay- especially of breakers who seem to make up prices based exotica italian reputation not fact- have often found new ducati new parts prices are less than some breakers want for 2nd hand!!! eg- clutch slave cyl- breaker=£55+£5p&p ducati=£41inc vat +p&p |

each? or a pair? that sounds cheeep! I still don't need to buy any though. |
Mine were about £35 a pair for the square tooth belts but think the round tooth belts on the 620's are more expensive |
