Which Jap bike (did I just say that ??!!) I need shooting for this... !! Thumbing through More Crap News, I occasionally have a gander through the rice rocket section in the for sale bit and find an old skool jap bike which reminds me of my yoof and puts a big smile on my face..so, assuming you had a style bypass...which (if any) mint japanese example would adorn your dream garage ??!! Me..choice between - Original GSXR750 (slobbered over as a spotty yoof!) http://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/s...50_top_450.jpg - NS400R or KR1S (gotta have a stinkwheel in the collection )..those KR1S's were OFF THE HEAD quick and nimble !! Remember seeing over 140mph on a demo bike down the local bypass..quality ! http://www1.tcnet.ne.jp/tarobeat/DSC02515.JPG http://www.westcoast-salvage.com/Use...asaki/KR1S.jpg - RC30 (for obvious reasons... _..nice pic with an NS400R.. http://www.reach.net/~seven/rc&ns.JPG REMEMBER - WE NEED PICS !! FZ750...conservative red and white or in yer face blue and yellow sir..??! Werent those TZR's (and TDR's) cool..!!? |
Would have to be a KR1S (First serious off on 1 of those at my old mans house in Narborough Leicester) Christ knows how i walked away. Secondly would have to be a ZXR 400 in Blue. Never managed to get 1 of those when i was younger, after binning the KR1S the insurance quote crippled me. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...lr%3D%26sa%3DN Apologies for the long link! Only photo i could find of a blue one Regards ScottyB |

GSXR750 or ZX10 or RD350LC |
If we are going old school then RD350, new school 2006 R6. Saying that my mate is building 2 bikes based on an 1100 Katana and a Z1. Both have original engines, seats and tanks, but, have spondon frames, Ohlins rear's, USD front forks, Yoshi 4 in to 1's, new wheels - one running 16.5" marvic's and intermediates on the road. Idea is to make classic 1980's transatlantic race bikes with modern brakes, suspension and wheels. [Edited on 3-2-2006 by Carbon749] |
katana - forgot that one...white version with the tinted screen and pop up headlamp... |
I've got a Kat 1100, no pop up head light though! |

I finish call today, I was out until 04:30 this morning, got called to Newbury last night so I'm not in the mood for any work today. |
TZR250-the reverse cylinder one, they could be mental fast with a few TZ250 bits. Suzuki GT500-superb big stroker, bloody strong engine too. Kawasaki KH500/KH750-you want mental?you got mental! Honda NSR250 MC28 Suzuki RG500-with Stan Stephens stage 3 of course. Notice anything strange yet-like my choices are all strokers........... John |
Lucky Strike RGV 250 |
KH500/KH750 - widow maker |
Miss my NS400. It was a wicked bike. I was 18 at the time and could hardly affords to run the thing. Miss the RG500 as well.:( That was a cool bike too. I would like to build a RG500/RGV250 one day. DC.:burn: [Edited on 3-2-2006 by DC] [Edited on 3-2-2006 by DC] |
New Yam R6, I saw one parked alongside a Gsxr1000 K5 a couple of days ago and to be honest it made the K5 look old fashioned! Especially from looking head on. Not fancied anything Jap for a long time till I saw this. |
Old School - RGV 250 New School - GXSR 750 |

Oooh oooh a chance to show my toys Owned a NS400, sounded crap bit likea duck farting, anti dive forks siezed, tankslapped far too many times and wasnt that quick. Blue and yellow TZR250 1KT - great fun Here is my current RGV, it's a bit of a rarity being the VJ23 jap only model, 70 degree V twin, elec start, dray clutch, fully adj suspention and shown with a rather suspect pillion seat (now removed). but its full power and while still only doing around 125 flat out its got some midrange and the power kicks at 7 and 9k and sounds rather sexy if strokers get you going ![]() And here are a couple of my other babys, show is one of my NC30's (the used one - other is a restored ornament in the house same colours) and my RC30. Er the RC is a dream bike for me, nothing comes even close to the feeling i get riding this baby. ![]() ![]() |
Another FZ750 fan here. Always liked the look of the origional half faired bike.(Mine was fully faired,in silver and black) Nearly bought a FZR750R (OWO1) before buying my first Duke.Saw one recently with a FZR1000 motor grafted in,.......what a beast. [Edited on 4-2-2006 by KeefyB] |
ok, so it's not a sports bike... My Ducati is my first one... but this is my baby. A self restored and rebuilt 59 Lambretta Li series 1. I thought id share. :) This was just after the restoration in 03... ![]() Cy |

Nice bikes Paul-but where are the mini bikes?, looks a hell of a garden too-you live in a stately home by any chance?? Nice little Lambretta as well Cy Most of the strokers I have owned were old brits, loads of Bantams-got a D10 in the back garden waiting rebuild now-James, Francis Barnets, Arial Arrow etc etc. I have the TZ250D still as most know-it's my avatar-and I had a Suzuki TS125T which I bought brand new in 1972-it's the only other Japanese bike I've ever owned, I have ridden loads of others though. John |
Yes..that RGV is a cracker...but feck me...is that a seat on the back...??!! Nat |
Natty, yeah the seat, bit bad isnt it ? it currently wears the normal one which is not as bad, but still looks far better without. Monty, that is my parents place in northwales, it is quite something. He restores old ducati's and i feel is fitting to keep a bike or two over there to help my lack of space here in cheshire. The RC30 is already spoiling for a fight with some maroon old 175 elite thing. As for the gag bikes, well they dont move much and the KSR is for sale, but here they are for your amusment ![]():lol: |
Thanks Paul-see I knew something was missing. By the way, does your dad know Chris Bushell? he has 18 Ducati's currently and 17 of them are of the old single type, lots of contacts for parts etc. John |
|
Its got to be GSXR1000K6........... What about a Aprillia RS250,its Italian handling and flair with a jap engine and was the best little bike i ever owned but go for the Chesterfield one. |
