As I didn't last year, I'm not going to use Shell Advance VSX oil in my DD bike... that's not really some kind of racing oil is it? :sniff:

ali 03-Feb-2006 13:04

I use whatever looks best bursting into flames down the start/finish straight... Think I'll use paraffin this year:lol:

please think before posting on this, - we have series sponsors ! And the series would not exist if it were not for those sponsors!

Tonio600 03-Feb-2006 13:21

apologies... do I have to remove anything?

I didn't write we were given bad oil, just that I want to put even better oil in my bike.

I thought it was a completely fair question. There has been lots of discussion on this board about various oils ability to deal with race conditions, especially as many bikes won't be running oil coolers, so it's highly unlikely that the (very generous) men at Shell would be entriely surpised (or concerned) to learn that so-an-so is using MobilBPAgip VS1XTT Super turbo oil....

I'm sure everyone appreciates their support of the series, but I was pretty concerned when I check at snet and found my oil running at 165 degs C, more than 20 above the maximum designed for that oil. I happily used VSX all season, just made sure I changed it regularly.

Cheers,

Ali

I use this

It's working so far as the SS is slowly becoming a 999 ;)

Damn, I wondered why my wrinkles weren't receding using 20w50 :o
You'll be telling me next that the 7.5w fork oil isn't gonna work on my greying hairline :borg:

I got qualified as a sports masseur in my younger (shaven legged) cyclo-sport days so I know what you mean, but if I tried that on myself now I'd probably get arrested :o

Have we got this thread sufficiently off track to stop Ian worrying yet?

You may have just diverted his worry from being about the oil to being about you and your 'self-servicing'!!!

At least I can manage it without ending up plastered ;)

I never said the question was not fair, - I did not edit or ask tonio to edit, - I only asked for caution on replying to this thread.

PS Oil of Olay rejected the request for sponsorship but KY are interested :o
