What\'s happened to Picman ??

Not sure where to post this, but does anyone know what's happened to Gary Bailey aka Picman??

He took photos at a number of trackday and DD rounds last year, and I've been trying to buy some of the pics off him. I have emailed and left phone messages for the last month but have had no reply?

I'm desperate to get the pics as he managed to make me look fast!!

Cheers, Paul

Yeah, I think it is a rare combination of skill and "cojones", at one cornering "school" I remember him lying with his head very close to the apex kerbing...he reckoned that the instructors were too good to hit him, and the pupils not good enough :(

Hopefully, its just the "off" season for action photography...maybe he's on holiday or something... I guess a lot of his and his teams work is seasonal

Well, their phones arent working now, including a private mobile number I was given by the lady there after she promised to send a refund cheque.
I have also never got a reply to any emails I sent them.
They owe me money, cos they took double what I had agreed over the phone from my creditcard, didnt send any paperwork or email, (which I think is against the terms of their card agreement)
I did get a cd at least, but it was bloody expensive, cos half the pics are not worth bothering with.
I think they've gone under, th!"£$% b!"£$%^.
If I see Gary Bailey at a circuit I'll give him a piece of my mind.

That sort of behaviour gives honest photographers a bad name, and I know a couple myself, so I'll be asking their opinions.

Chill Phil

They've provided me with some pretty good pics before and I think most people who had stuff off them are pretty satisfied.

If they have gone under, I think that we can safely assume that like any other small business they probably fought tooth and nail against the odds to stay afloat. I know I've been there, doesn't make them thieves or *******s.

What makes them a thieving ******* in your books anyway? How much does somebody have to overcharge you before you become judge and jury and pronounce sentence? £5, £10, £15? Double what they should have?

If you're really miffed and paid with a credit card, take it up with the credit card company as a disputed payment.

Ya see if you call somebody a 'theiving *******' on a publicly accesible website without cast iron proof that somebody is indeed a thief and a *******, the next thing you might get is a solicitors letter for libel or defamation if they haven't gone under

NBs996 01-Mar-2006 19:35

That's a pretty serious statement there phill!!!
Overcharged me too, but only by 2 quid and I've always been happy with the pics so I don't feel the need to even mention it to them.

It'd be a shame if they've gone under, they had a good setup.

Hope all is okay for picman, he’s a good laugh and always keen to get you that special shot, I see the website is still up un running.
I have heard a few comments about the 2 quid thing and if I remember that's the online credit payment charge.

I wouldn't worry too much, how very own Cope Images can take over:eureka:

Actually Jools the owners of this site are the ones who get sued, current laws hold the publisher responsible for the content and the club could lend up paying damages.

Which is why we have to censor posts occasionally-and then get pilloried for doing it. There will be new terms and conditions soon for posting on this site which will sort this kind of problem out-hopefully.

Got two of his CDs sitting in front of me. Good pics, quick service, no problems. Sad if he's gone under.

Guido 02-Mar-2006 23:21

Just to add my 2 penneth,

If Gary has gone under then it is both a crying shame and indeed a major worry (for someone like me trying to get established in the photo game).

If someone who takes the calibre of pics that Gary did, then he should be rakign it in on trackdays, which I think was his main arena.

Admittedly, his artic rig and employee costs will have been high, but if he's doing Mon-Fri trackday events (Both bikes and Cars) and getting the orders, which he obviously was judging by the customers on here, then I would have thought he'd be covering costs nicely.

Someone not answering their phone in a business points to trouble in my book...The website will be up and running until his paid-up domain fees run out. It is if it gets updated regularly you need to watch out for...when was his last trackday update on there????????

Hope all's ok...

Gc

phil_h 02-Mar-2006 23:43

Actually, its not just 'not answering his phone' - the number on the website is 'no longer in use', so what does that mean ? the bill hasnt been paid ?

And the mobile number I was given by Maria is 'no longer in service'.

Draw your own conclusions.

I agree - eric is going very nicely !

However, that kind of skew to a picture reeeeeally annoys me - clearways is _not_ that much of a hill ! And 4 or 5 other photographers I have pics from dont ponce around like that.

Ray 14-Mar-2006 13:02

Picman is still alive & picing as far as I can see, he was at a car trackday at cadwell at the weekend, the website is full of piccys from the day,

Ray.
