Nurburgring 2006 \"Final call\" well you all know that Tim (Rattler) Kindly stepped in to help organise The DSC trip to the "Ring" this year! The uptake seemed very good at the time;) I'm not sure if it's going to happen or not,and i think a lot of the reason maybe, "Holidays" We all take different times/days/weeks off! couple that with other events, and it seems a Logistical nightmare to try and get all the peeps in the right place at the right time:( I have a quite a few U2u's from members/none members who have expressed an interest! so i think a better plan for anyone who wants to come out this year would be;) 1 make contact and open a line of communication with me! Email me at bike.rite@ntlworld.com (cut&Paste) 2 I can then put you in my data base and email all the seperate dates out as we get them! 3 you can then come with other bikes/cars at anytime it suites you! 4 I will be able to slot 1's and 2's of you in at short notice , or even meet and greet you at my hotel in germany etc etc if you want a DIY trip To be fair we are very busy this time of the year! so checking the board is not always as soon as i would like it to be! I think in General this would help all of you who think you might want to do it! get intouch I don't bite!;) and I would just like to say a "BIG" thanks to Tim (Rattler) for his help! A thankless task, as you all know when it comes to organising these things;) So c'mon guys get intouch if you want to do it this year! regards mav |
I only want to do it with the DSC massive - and then only if the dates line up. Which I think is fair enough. I can't commit anything until I know what the dates are - are we in a catch 22 big fella? |

Not Realy TP, I still want to do The DSC "Big" one! and once the dates are out (some are) me and Tim will resume! plan A:D My above post is more for the peeps who know what holidays they have got already, and want to take advantage of the above post!! If ya get my meaning! The problem is , when the date's do come out! (and I have put some up untill may1), If the date s are not in keeping for a DSC trip, then the Trip just falls apart! The others that want to go then loose out! I think this way we get (TWO) bites of the cherry! TP if you want to re-write that up to sound like it shoule do! Be my guest;) I'm up untill 2am at the moment, doing booking forms:D I'm now knackerd:puzzled::puzzled: |

I followed the previous thread and would like to do a ring trip. However as mentioned it seems to be a 'catch 22' situation at the moment. If a date was set I for one would be able to say yes or no. But it seems pointless and a waste of the organisers time for me to say yes without knowing the date and whether it fits in with other trips/holidays etc. If a date is set I could even organise my other things around it. Someone set a date! |
Mav I think personally we should aim for a mid to late May date, when did the Ring open last year around that time? Presumably we could then sort the dates round DD etc. At least in that way we could get something rolling and a date in the diary albeit in pencil at the moment |
Nice one Mav!!! The final list of attendees (from the other thread) is listed below. I've asked Mav to co-ordinate the best dates for the trip as other commitments for me means that I don't have the time to get all the final details together - apologies. Besides, this is what Keith does best - so please confirm your place below (remove the yes or no against your name) and lets get out there!!! - Webbyc - YES / NO - Clint - YES / NO - CK & AK - YES / NO - Rally - YES / NO - Urban996 - YES / NO - Fordie - YES / NO - Fil2 & Firefly - YES / NO - BDG - YES / NO - Blueto - YES / NO - Multi600 - YES / NO - TP - YES / NO - PhillC - YES / NO -age996+wife - YES / NO -Geoff M + 2 - YES / NO -Martin Dower + 1 - YES / NO - Beetle - YES / NO - ian johnson - YES / NO - bazzer sps - YES / NO - Nattyboy - YES / NO -wavydavy + Carrie - YES / NO Tim |

myself fordie and kelly are interested in this but are concerned about the noise restrictions on the " Ring ".....is it best advised to fit standard pipes before you go ...or leave the Termings on....?? What is the noise limit and how is it tested.....ie..at what revs..?...etc cheers Phil september 8th - 11th...suits us.....the rest is DD, track days , hols, and gives people time to shift things around if need be.?etc etc............ MAV - have been trying to get my name on the list since last November..will email you...any time in May looks good...Richard. |

phil here are the guide lines on NOISE:) The marshalls do conduct testing, both targeted and random. However, based on various experiences, we have concluded that Nürburgring GmbH is keen to be seen to be doing something to satisfy the concerns of local residents[1] without actually keeping too many people off the track. [1] Is it just me, or does it seem bizarre to live inside a race-track and then complain about the noise? For example, they sometimes pick out perfectly standard (and quiet) vehicles to test. Phil Gardner's theory is that by picking lots of vehicles they know will pass, this enables them to be seen to be carrying out lots of tests and report back that 95% of them pass, thus giving the impression that noise is not a problem at the Ring. They have also allowed vehicles to continue after failing the test by a margin, with one person suggesting that there is an 'unofficial limit' of about 100dB. However, the bottom-line remains that there is an official 95dB limit, and some people have been sent away for being too noisy. So if you go there with a noisy can, you run the risk that you might not get to play. Also, the German police have powers to confiscate noisy cans, which can spoil your day, especially if you've ridden there ... So unless you are going by van or trailer, and have the stock can with you for a swap if needed, I'd think about whether the extra 3bhp or whatever is worth it, especially as the Ring is not a power circuit. If you decide to risk it, most people who get singled out for testing do so by being silly. Don't rev your engine in the car-park, keep the revs as low as possible when passing through the barriers and don't go haring off from the cones at full whack. If you wait until reaching the bridge before opening it up, you have a much better chance of getting away with it. If you see them wandering round the car-park with a noise-meter, that is an excellent time to wander off for a coffee: if you and your keys are not with the vehicle, they can't pick you out for a random car-park test. As the trip organiser ! I cannot be responsible if you decide to "Risk" it ! I know you will understand. mav;) |

thanks mav...... If the dates gel..then i think standard cans is the only way to go........ Phil |
Mav, they also used to have a sound test between Exmuhle and Bergwerk. This one caught me out as they radio back to the gate for when you return. Standard pipes for me. |
To be honest, the standard can thing puts me off going. Its an absolute pain to swap the can on 999.I see on a German web*****e that db killers are available,...anyone have experience of these? Mind you,..I could always use the Multistrasse!:eureka: |

Dude, the idea is to pick up on the last copy of the list and add/remove your name... not cut off everyone who has already responded. :frog: |

keefee B are the 999's that loud? :puzzled: |
I was talking about the noise thing with the Berkshire lot on Sunday. Sounds like if you follow Mav's advice about how to behave it will probably be ok. I'm prepared to chance it as I'm certainly not going to change the exhaust on my 999. :D |

I just thought the easiest thing to do would be to slip in some db eaters. |
The whole region is a bikers dream. A lot of first timers are not too fussed about racking up loads of laps. Even with loud cans you still normallly get some laps in. Db killers can work, just depends on the staff there at the time. (from my experiance they did not work, staff were going by the book). Just riding the roads there is worth the trip. Thats why we are looking for a house out there. |
Agree with Roy, I have been a couple of times and the roads are just awesome. I took my 996 with termis on round for a couple of laps, and before that the 749S with a termi system, both times with no probs (probably shot myself in the foot this time!!!). Anyway follow mav's advice and don't rev it in the paddock until you get past the first bridge. Totally confused by who is going and who's not so have redone the listing. - Webbyc - YES preferably end May early June - Clint - YES preferably end of May - AK & CK - NO (outside chance later in year tho) - Rally - YES - Urban996 - YES / NO - Fordie - YES / NO - Fil2 & Firefly - YES / NO - BDG - YES (but can only do from July 14th thru to end of July) - Blueto - YES / NO - Multi600 - YES / NO - TP - YES / NO - PhillC - YES / NO - age996+wife - YES / NO - Geoff M + 2 - YES / NO - Martin Dower + 1 - YES / NO - Beetle - YES / NO - ian johnson - YES / NO - bazzer sps - YES / NO - Nattyboy - YES - wavydavy + Carrie – **YES/YES** - Ricco 749S - YES There that's better:cool: |
Roy, can't see your name on the list? Or Tim's? |
can anyone do Friday 12th May until Monday 15th? saturday morning sample the 257/258 loop mmmmmmmm Twistie, lunch by the river in cochem and the evening on the ring Ring also open all day sunday!+ ride outs, etc The Reason I'm there for the F1 grand prix the weekend B4 If I could meet up with u guys in Dunkirk the following Friday It save,s me a load of money and therefore I can give you better discounts!!!!!!! Just an Idea? |
I'm sort of waiting for a confirmed date as we will be out there several times this year in the elise (house hunting, honest!!). So i am waiting for the dsc thing to go before i commit. |
roy are you bringing the Elise? |

Bow to the other guys experiences but I've been round on the 916 and 996r both on noisy pipes, went last year on a very quiet ST3 during our long haul European trip. The main testing area seems to be the start point but I guess they can check other places. Would be interested in going this year and have found some really great chalet type accommodation. We usually pay big bucks and stay at the Sonnenhof which is a belting hotel with free access to the sauna and gym after doing some track time. Ideal if you've picked a ****y wet time to visit ! The chalets are self catering but you can use the hotel which is just up the road for brekky if you prefer. Very reasonably priced with garaging for bikes. When we stay at the hotel they let us put the bikes under a sheltered walkway. If I go it will be 2 up on the ST3 so any other couples/2 uppers going and want some company riding there feel free to get in touch. |
Mav, If it's a joint reccie with Kim then the Elise gets to play. We are in talks with some agents so we will have to get over for some viewings. Do really want to get the duke out again for some play. |

Or you can come to a 70's throw back Hotel;) Have some real nice food ;) Learn something that you might think you know all the answers to;) use the Hotel's facilities ie: Relax, Drink fine German Beer, sod the Gym as you are there to ride your bikes! Throw some "Big bucks" into your petrol tank and on laps of the ring and rideout's ;) sit on a wonderfull balcony,on a 180deg bend and watch the local's get there knee down;) On the way back, we will pop into M schummackers Go kart center and do a few laps ;) And get waited on Hand foot and finger BY me!! ;):smug: |
roy do you want that lift in march? |

Nobody appears to have yet responed to Mav's earlier question, but I'm personally ok with the weekend of Friday 12 May. Webby & Clint have, however, indicated a preference for later in the month, so entirely happy to go with the flow... Knowing the potential saving for the weekend of 2th May, however, may produce a more positive reaction?? Otherwise, would suggest that Mav simply goes with the few suggestions he's received so far (ie end of May) and announces a date in order to draw a conclusion to what has been an impressive effort to bring democracy to the process...put an end to the misery I say! Those that want to go later in the year can hook up with the other DSC people with the same agenda and book with Mav for a later trip...just an idea, so only restrained criticism please...... |
Mav, yes still interested in your offer . When you know possible dates u2u me as i need to see if i can tie in wiv me work. |
I would be on for this. |
