servicing (where?)

I need to get my 998FE serviced, the bike is coming up to 6k/24m. Being it's the first Ducati I've owned, I am unsure of where to take it, in the South East/Kent area. I am well aware though there is places that rip people off. Is there somewhere local or do I need to go to Cornerspeed, long way away?
I know Pro Twins aren't far away, any good?
What are the prices for the service, I know it will be dearer than a C90 service!
Your help will be very welcome.:)

Pro twins , Yes they are very good. Probably noy the cheapest, but i've never had cause to complain. Their labour rate is cheaper than my local back-street non franchise shop. Ring around but i don.t think there is really much in it. A llarge chunk of the cost is service items. Petes the main man there and he does look after your pride and joy. And you know that the job is a good one.

What Doogalman said.

Excellent service from a very friendly bunch.

FE

Whens it due, mine may be heading north soon, or we could split the cost of a Nelly collection as I'm only 4 or 5 miles from you ......

big999duke 10-Feb-2006 15:05

Tec Moto is now being run by Mitch the mechanic, he did a top job on my 999. Apparently he's now concentrating his efforts on servicing rather than just supplying shiny bits. Seems like a honest bloke and seems to know his stuff, give him a go :D

I get mine serviced at a place in Kings Cross. The 6000 cost me £240 inc. parts. (new air filter, oil etc...nothing major)

Send me a U2U if you want details.

Another Protwins fan - recently done my superlight (which did need alot of work due to standing for years) and looked after my 996S for last 3 years but they are very attentive and Pete & Malcolm are very good guys. Send me a U2U if you want to know how much things cost.

rcgbob44 12-Feb-2006 12:24

ProTwins for me as their local and I have never had any cause for complaint!

Nice bunch of chaps & very helpful as well.

Dibble 12-Feb-2006 12:35

FE, as they say, a Nelly collection is when he comes and gets it ... I usually do a deal with Nelly that means he either collects or delivers, but it all depends on what else he has on, but obviously, if he were doing two bikes at once its more worth his while ......

Also I have only ever heard good things about Pro V but I have my own reasons not to use them, and they aren't connected to the workshop ...

tec moto is the place mitch has done quiet a bit of work on my 748 top man and you dont have to remorgage to pay for it

ericthered40 13-Feb-2006 22:55

Tecmoto Mitch he good.

:)

doogalman 14-Feb-2006 07:40

I went to have a browse around Tecmoto once. The guy there was allmost pleading for my service work. He told me he could save me loads on my bill because they were cheaper than my local prefered agent. He did not get far after i told him what i am charged allready. Don't have any recent experiance didn't they have a fire , change hands etc. I did not use them as i had a dislike for there puhy attidude.
Just my views .

mitchc 14-Feb-2006 12:41

So that every one knows whats been happening at Tec Moto in the last year or so: There was a fire in the store room/workshop in 2004, and the business was sold by the previous owners to Chris Carr in November 2004. I looked after his workshop in 2005, and took over the business in November last year.

Doogalman, not sure who you spoke to and when you spoke to them. All I can say to your post is come and talk to the "new TecMoto", hopefully you'll find I am not as "pushy" as the previous guy. As one of the post says I'm now concentrating on servicing, tuning, set-up etc rather than just bling......

Final edition, if you want to give me a ring i'd be happy to give you a qoute for your service.

Thanks
Mitch C, Tec Moto.

Mitchc, i may give you a bell at some point as i may need some service work doing . Twas about 18mth - 2years ago. Took an instant dislike to the guys approach. Hope The new tecmoto works well for you.

mitchc 14-Feb-2006 16:51

thanks doogalman, hope to talk soon....

antonye 14-Feb-2006 17:25

Another vote for Mitch - he's looked after my 600SS and will shortly be doing the 748 for me as well.

I've always taken the bikes to TecMoto and Mitch keeps up the good work.

Just don't get him started on his days on the Yamaha Superbikes .... zzzzzzzzz ....

Thanks for the possibilities on different workshops. I will ring a few up to get an idea of where they are coming from and are about. FE.

twpd 16-Feb-2006 14:43

Has anyone got any experience of Ducati John? I'm reet oop north like.

Teddy1 18-Feb-2006 23:28

I was told to stay away fom Tec-Moto. But If things have changed I'll give them a try. My last service just relieved me of £800, (new clutch though). Which I'm told was not too bad. Its a lot closer as well.

Do you park by the cherry tree in Brentwood?
